Im using Lampard to highlight that our strikers arent good enough, never have been and never will be, we have lacked a Dean Saunders or a Dwight Yorke for bloody donkeys years and whilst I do like Gabby & Carew they are nowhere near prolific enough to push us onto another level.....

No offence mate but are you deluded or what, we do not have a very good squad far from it, we have one left back, a striker who cant score, a midfield back up of Salifou and Osbourne, a back up right back with no Premier League experince in Lichaj, Agbonlahor & Carew are never gonna score the goals to get us anywhere, Downing is average, we are severley weaker without Milner in our midfield and just content season after season to have the smallest squad, why we cant see the need for a decent striker is beyond me, as a club we have made more of an effort to showcase the new kit than sign players and even then they **** up the release of it so it comes out a month after the season starts, truly shocking for a club of this size, I will donate £10 to VT (sorry Im skint) if we finish above the blues this year.... I'll just reply to one bit... Agbonlahor 13 in 33 Prem games last year. Carew 10 in 30 Prem games last year. Utter bollocks there. Posting for effect, YAWN. Im absolutely disgusted by the lack of ambition shown by the chairman here, doesnt he realise that we will not finish as high this season meaning he will lose money in the final league placings etc, every club in the Premier League has brought in players this summer and we have done **** all, I have £90 worth of kit order for me & my son to cancel now out of pure and utter disgust at the running of this club, if he isnt willing to finance his toy anymore then sell it to some rich arab who will....

General Sir, your last post tells the fans what the club are looking for in regards to the new manager, you mention the RIGHT man for the people choosing, can you clarify then that, that rules out Curbishley, MacDonald, Southgate, Bradley etc as these people are no where near good enough to manage this club, surely Randy could see that these people would take us backwards....UTV

Relegation may be a long shot, especially with the likes of Blackpool, Wigan and West Ham down there but just how bad were we last Sunday? Certainly not a top six (ten?) side playing like that!! It doesnt matter if we have the good players, if we have a manager with no first team managerial experience then we will be in trouble, yes he knows the players and is good with the reserves but managing one of Englands biggest clubs in the real world of the Premier League with the media spotlight on him and the pressures of the job will not bode well for us....

General, may I start off by thanking what Randy & yourself have done at the club in the last few years, the way the club has been run has never been better that's clear to see in my eyes because my other sporting passion is Ice Hockey and my team there (Toronto Maple Leafs) has been run so badly over the years they are paying a heavy price now for bad management from boardroom level, so it's good to have nice competent people running the club, anyway onto the point of why I'm posting which is team selection for tonights game against Rapid Vienna, what is worrying / annoying me us the fact that once again we are treating this competition as a joke in that we are leaving first team players in Young x 2 and Petrov at home and coupled with injuries will be playing a vastly weakened team against opposition that knocked a virtually full strength Villa team out last season, as with two seasons ago when MON mucked around with team selection ensuring an early exit from the competition, so the questions I have to ask you are, 1: has Ashley Young been left at home so we don't cuptie him from European competition amid his transfer rumours because afterall it us only the 2nd game of the season, and 2: why do we after spending 9 months of hard work trying to get European football do we season after season seem to disrespect the Europa League by fielding weakened teams, General I thank you in advance for your reply and keep up the good work....UTV

I have wanted him gone for over a season and half now, keeps playing players out of posistion and absolutely shocking in the transfer market yet complains we need more players but never seems to add to the squad without getting rid of a few, TBH Ive never really brought into the whole MON is the messiah hysteria.....could do much much better than MON....UTV

Ive gone for NO...ok we have done better than in recent seasons, but MON's inability in the transfer market has cost us european football for next season, there is no way we should have gone a whole season without having at least 2 right backs in the squad, Zat Knight was a god damn awful buy who keeps costing us goals but SHOULD have played yesterday instead of having NRC in defence, why oh why MON didnt go after Defoe I dont know, there can be no arguments here as everyone knew he was a quality goalscorer that we have been lacking for donkeys years, Defoe could have also been the difference in us playing european football but little old Pompey managed to get him there, Salifou is non existant and not good enough, where is Routledge oh and he's not good enough either, Harewood has done ok but see Defoe..I think we need a manager who has some bottle in the transfer and doesnt get average players in to try and move a massive club like Villa forward, back to small clubs like Celtic, Leicester and Wycombe please MON

Ive gone for 11th - 14th, I must say that I cant stop laughing at the posts that suggest we are no weaker than we were this time last year, we have no depth in the squad and a manager that for some strange reason seems scared to spend the money available to him because he has let so many players that would have benefitted us this season sign for other teams, we WILL struggle this season and the buck stops with the manager for letting 8 players go and getting nobody in to replace them....

Ive gone for one (NRC) as what has happened or not happened has made me think that maybe we arent as big as what we thought we were gonna be and when you see players like Nugent, a good goalscorer with an England cap move to Pompey when we needed a goalscorer and he became available I was sure that we would sign him but to see him go to Pompey was embarassing, I cannot believe how inept we have been in the transfer market.......
