  1. Serious answer: Develop an in-depth knowledge of a sport (preferably a minority sport). Be smart and disciplined. Have a staking plan and stick to it. Develop an understanding of probability and randomness in sport. Follow trends closely, develop your own systems and rankings. Follow line movements closely and the reasons behind moves so you can anticipate them. Even more serious answer: Never back the Cleveland Browns.
  2. I wouldn't even care that much if we were as long as it was effective. I'm not a fan of tippy tappy football. I'm not a fan of frustrating/boring teams into submission. I am a fan of physical football, not just in terms of height and strength but speed and workrate. I am a fan of high tempo counter attacking football. We're certainly more of the second than the first. Like I've always said though you can be relatively successful just by playing differently to everyone else. We should be trying to find our own identity. There's far too much of a perception throughout football now that the Barcelona way is the future and every team should embrace it or be left behind. Of course this ignores the fact that Bayern absolutely destroyed Barcelona last season with a physical high-tempo game (of course they then quite bizarrely went on to hire one of the chief architects of tippy tappy football in Guardiola).
  3. Not that it would have made a difference but Kaepernick gets 126 points and Vick gets 58. Bit of a silly scoring format. I guess its my fault for not looking into the scoring but huge bonuses for passing yards and hardly anything for rushing yards for QBs. I don't like it.
  4. Also, it was great to see Cushing get his first TD on his comeback from injury and Ben Tate is at this point a much better running back than Arian Foster, keep that in mind for fantasy because Foster will lose carries and probably the starting job soon.
  5. My god what a terrible first half from Houston. I give the Chargers some credit, they played like they had nothing to lose but Houston were atrocious. Slow pace, dull predictable playcalling, soft penalties and the DB's, I cannot believe how bad Houston's DB's were, the pass rush also very poor. It wasn't really a surprise that once they put a bit of pressure on Rivers he turned to shit. There will be a serious reassessment of Houston's chances this year going on around the league now. You really can't get much more of a contrast with the Eagles first half where they played fast, aggressive football and Houston's dull, slow sluggish first half.
  6. Funny if Coughlin walked out and retired during the game
  7. So the Cleveland coaches were presumably thinking this morning: Lets let Brandon Weeden throw over 50 times but make sure Trent Richardson has less than 15 carries. That sounds like a winning strategy. Seriously, that was a close game until the last few minutes, how in the world did Weeden get to throw it 53 times and Richardson 13 carries?
  8. David Wilson looks a steal in the second round for me
  9. I'm so fed up of International football. It's not the pinnacle of football any more (if it ever was) as it has been hugely surpassed by the Champions league, it's benefits in terms of cultural exchange are hugely diminished as barriers to flows of information and people have come down. Worst of all the players of the top nations are lukewarm about it. They feel obliged to play but don't need the money and you can tell their hearts aren't in it. Plus, and I don't think this is that controversial, what exactly is the point when so many players can choose which country they play for out of 2/3/4 countries. It's making too much money to be scrapped in the near future but I wouldn't be bothered at all if it was. We could easily expand the football calendar with more international club tournaments and generally taking them more seriously. That may benefit the top clubs the most but we could for example have a Midlands cup in the offseason if we didn't get more prestigious offers. Plus, we could finally be rid of this nonsense of playing countries with a fraction of your population. Moldova has well under 10% of our population and we are playing them in a competitive game. Un-entertaining, unsporting nonsense that's purely a blatant moneygrab. I don't know why we put up with it.
  10. To be fair I thought he was phenomenal first half of last season. Poor second half though. The question is, what sort of player is he, is he a defensive midfielder or an attacking midfielder, I'm not really sure.
  11. Yeah and Moyes will end up as the fall guy for their failures
  12. 3 great games on Sky to kick it off.
  13. I'm not surprised. Their key players are either the wrong side of 30 (Van Persie, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick) or are too fond of pies (Rooney) and they can't sign any of the best young talent.
  14. I've never noticed a difference between McArthur and McCarthy, they may aswell be the same player. Another signing from Wigan for Martinez. I wouldn't be happy if I was an Everton fan. Overpaying for players from Wigan rather than looking for gems from abroad.
  15. He doesn't have an attitude issue and he's one of the best playmakers on the planet. Real manager was asked who he wants to keep out of di Maria and Ozil (to fund Bale). He picked di Maria so Ozil on his way. Real's loss is Arsenal's gain. I'll say this. Giroud is suddenly a huge fantasy prospect with all these playmakers behind him and no competition upfront.
  16. I said it earlier on the thread but they have hung Moyes out to dry here. I will be surprised if he lasts a year.
  17. Think he will be a star in the prem Well he should be for that kind of money. Surely they should have spent the money on a big bad striker or a defensive midfielder though.
  18. I'm surprised at the gushing over the Ozil deal. Very good player, destroyed England at the last world cup but either: a) Arsenal wanted him all along but Real were unwilling to do business until the Bale deal was complete before agreeing to sell him. Arsenal have panicked and broken their transfer record (by £27.5m) on deadline day on a little playmaker (the one position they didn't need) for a huge fee given Real were presumably keen to sell after shelling out for Bale. Plus is his attitude a bit of an issue? He always looks in a mood.
  19. Cassel Greyskull was unable to capitalize on their fortuitous draft position. Despite selecting third overall, they're projected to finish ninth in villatalk League with a mark of 5-8-1 (2,839 points). The coach of Cassel Greyskull must have arrived late to the draft party. After picking up the fewest projected points in the league over the draft's first half, they accumulated the most during the second half. Cheeky gits.
  20. Okay thanks. I was starting to think I had asked a really stupid question.
  21. It's a bit harder when you don't get a £25m striker given to you on a plate by the looks of it.
  22. Better is too definitive a word, he just has different qualities. The way Spurs set-up today didn't suit Soldado at all and would have really suited Benteke.
