  1. Last time the manager was removed by the previous regime, so that Randy Lerner could start with 'his man' Same will go with the next takeover, I think.
  2. He is not going to get the sack before the end of the season. The best thing that we can do is fill VP next Saturday and roar this sorry mob to safety. Recriminations can come afterwards.
  3. I guess that you, like others, enjoyed it when O'Neill was here? Have a thought for those of us who have been waiting to see decent football at VP in this millennium
  4. You may well be correct, but is it fair to demand the regular grief of 35000 strangers over 2 years as sponsorship of your Open University course?
  5. Shirt £40 League Cup 3rd round £10 (exit) FA Cup 3rd round £10 (exit) Your only dilemma is what to do with the £1.50!
  6. You could always try plane spotting instead ? And there wouldn't be anything wrong with that :-) Airshow summer just around the corner and I can forget football for a bit. Yep, Just booked a small road trip. Gilze-Rijen (Holland), Karup (Denmark) and Schleswig-Jagel (Germany). 2000 miles in 5 days, guaranteed entertainment-you can't beat a good airshow! Oh, and I am renewing today as well!
  7. But then 'soccer' is not big at all really, is it?
  8. Been shopping at Waitrose again? Show off
  9. We did have one of them 'higher profile' managers, which is one of the reasons we are where we are now.
  10. Lunchtime I thought I would check out the UK movements of the desired duo, Ellison and Anschutz. Ellison flies to London semi-regularly, and was there last month. Anschutz's jets rarely darken the shores of the UK. If either are interested, they haven't been near enough to kick the tyres.
  11. As I have received confirmation that I am in need of a sense of humour by-pass, and that boring plane talk is allowed, here is the PM. Please note that this is an observation, not an ITK, and that it is only something that fits 'circumstantially' with David Thomson but is, in my opinion, highly unlikely. Canadian registered movements are fairly rare at BHX though: Something or nothing, but two private jets showed up at Birmingham last week from Toronto. The bigger one stayed for a day, the second one stayed until yesterday, so possibly a team who had some work to do (due diligence)? Canadian private jets are all registered to a couple of operating companies, so it is difficult to know the actual ownership. Could be completely unrelated, but it was unusual.
  12. I wouldn't get too excited, it's only sleuthing plane talk, which is embargoed on here.
  13. Yep - He's always a probability - Im skeptical of the whole US billionaire thing now - TBAR'S credibility has gone through the floor. PM'ed Useless. If you want the PM, ask him to forward it to you.
  14. Looking at it he has 'spoken' twice in the past week, showing support for Faulkner and Lambert, and accepting responsibility for the general situation, attempting to remove the heat from the two guys running the club. So, prior to yesterday's revelations, I expected him to show up this week, probably just for the day, to show his support by way of his physical presence. I know that we disagree over Randy Lerner, but he is a decent man who doesn't hide.
  15. I'm not there, but he is normally alone. Any potential buyer would make their own way to Birmingham I think.
  16. The returns queue for season tickets would be the new regime's first big moment!
  17. If it's Anschutz I guess we can look forward to taking over lots of Austrian teams Done earlier in the thread, and went south a bit then. Funny, but I think that you need to be of a certain age.......
  18. Unsure whether I am allowed to post this here, but I'll make one final run at risking the wrath of a 'moderator' Randy Lerner will shortly arrive in Birmingham for his first visit since September.
  19. Me too. My intended 'he doesn't really get you' to Smetrov's post is now redundant. Gotta be quicker on VT
  20. Ah, Cameron Diaz. I missed her in Antigua a few weeks ago because my daughter didn't want the couple of hours at the beach for the final afternoon. Apparently Ms.Diaz was happily mingling and having photos taken with folks. My daughter was more gutted than me, but I have to secretly confess that as a fat, bald, middle aged man, had she posed with me it would have been a hell of a FB wall post!
  21. Massively cutting the wage bill, limiting investment while waiting for a buyer and asking for a large sale price. So basically, by not throwing another £100m after the £250m the guy has already burned, he has ensured that 'his losses aren't too bad' A more childish poster would be 'haha-ing' at that. Did I say £100 million. Look at what Mr Lerner spent the last 3 January windows when the manager was crying out for help. Now there's a first. I never thought that I would see the day when you stood up for Alex McLeish
  22. Nobody knows whether Faulkner is good or bad at his job. There are more pointers towards him being good, but he is Randy's man, just like Steve Stride was Ellis's chauffeur, so when the owner goes, he goes.

  24. A small correction. Ellis got 'awarded' for his charity work after he left. Basically, when he was at the Villa, the money that he leeched from the club was his only source of income, so philanthropy was far from his mind. After he pocketed £28m from Randy Lerner, he made a substantial donation to Childline which, regardless of how he came about the money, he should be lauded for. The knighthood that he always craved soon followed.
