  1. Granted.. what happens when we are promoted, can he take us on to that next level where Tony Xia is aiming for, I am not to sure he could?
  2. One of the posts of the year. Couldn't agree more.
  3. It's whether our own aims and ambitions are as high really or if we are an attractive pull. I fear the longer we gamble in a hope Bruce gets a miracle the more likely we are to attract someone like Citizen Smith, let alone Dean Smith!
  4. Do we risk gambling further time and dropping more points in our push for promotion and become a less attractive pull for say a manager that actually could rescue our season and build beyond. I think we are now dicing with death the more we allow this clown to 'rescue himself' imo.
  5. Yep. A premier league job that is only one takeover collapse away from total disaster where it to happen. If he was manager of Man City or the likes I would totally understand the reasoning, - he is in charge of a Newcastle team hovering above relegation in a hope of a takeover happening soon in the bid to sign reinforcements whilst having a weak clause in his contract. Hardly the most cemented jobs of security and stability now is it?
  6. We know that now, but let's be honest no one and their brother would ever have merely suggested signing JT in the months before hand let alone thinking he would drop down for a challenge at a lower level by coming to us. It was a statement of intent by us also to show our ambition by pulling it off. The links and connections you suggest also helped. Granted. True he isn't and I agree he doesn't have to actively look for a step down. Yes he stood by Newcastle and was convinced to stay and kept his part of the bargain and got them back up, Ashley never kept his part though - suprise suprise! - again he (Rafa) didn't have to and could have left for a team with bigger heights across europe. It's no different to them being relegated and then convincing him to stay then when he again could have left? In another sense I agree, they are not a bigger pull than what we are and not that attractive for that to have happened hypothetically, no I don't understand how he is way too good for this job but was good enough for a relegated Newcastle after a bit of persuasion? I am not trying to convince anyone about anything but merely posting in the topic of which it relates and a potential interest at that of mere suggestion for us a club to ponder over. He would absolutely be a fantastic coup of a manager no question but I don't think he is as ungettable as many would think. Ultimately it would be down to him if he fancied it but as it stands, We are currently 9pts away from an automatic promotion spot and 5 months left in this league (hopefully) - bit let's be honest, it is Hardly an unattractive position for the manager in question or any decent manager that has the same ilk. - Just a thought following what our own targets are as a club and what Tony Xia set as an aim upon his arrival for us to achieve. We are a demanding lot and I think this is the 'type' of manager we should be aiming our sights at next, your Dean Smiths and Gary Rowetts as good as they are, don't strike me as being Top 4 esq managers who have been and done it which is surely the kind that we should be going for? We have already had one Champions League winning manager so I don't think we are that unattractive to say the least.
  7. I never started! .. the missus however, f'ing terrible!
  8. Yep I know exactly where you are coming from, I had a brief spell back in 2013 time with them at the xmas period and I told head office exactly where to shove it after I was moaned at for not delivering the parcels to their liking. (Why knock a door when you know Mrs Shaw is working till 5pm?) Just leave it in a safe place!? But nooo! Not acceptable according to them. I suggested they then pay me £1.00 a parcel instead and I will deliver it on a silver platter! - no surprise I gave them their zapper and books back the day after and politely told the snotty cow on the phone where she could stick that!.. and it wasn't in Mrs Shaws wheelie bin either! Also victimisation was witnessed on several occasions. Horrible little polluted company.
  9. Without taking this thread off topic a list of potential could be's are here.
  10. But the man has a £6m buyout clause, so if that was met there is not a thing Ashley could do about it anyway?
  11. Totally agree. Works out that they are on feeble as 50p a parcel at some firms like Hermes/Yodel, when you move furtherr up the chain to the likes of Amazon prime etc where you also need to lease vans and meet strict deadlines or risk not getting piad at all or even fined which in turn makes the days work done the day before wiped out. Slavery is no other way to describe it.
  12. Even more reason we should throw in a cheeky £6m bid for him and scupper their takeover at the same time.
  13. Spot on. But you would have to say they must indeed be desperate or do not know any better?
  14. Not too bad but it has taken them years on shoe string budgets. We need out of this league this season or we could be stuck here for a long time. The expectations at this club would also not allow Dyche or the Howes the time they would need to do the same thing here like they have had time to do at other clubs.
  15. Absolutely. There is working and having a job but that purely takes the piss. Also doing a bit of research into it and it makes for even more horror reading. How companies like these and sports direct etc. get away with it is just baffling.
  16. It is not a line rolled out, but have a look for yourself TRO. Aston Villa transfers in 16/17 and 17/18.. and that just being transfer fee's. - We won't include things like signing on fee's, wages or bonuses into debates it appears - if we do the figure will not make for pretty reading considering the shit we are served is supposed to be acceptable? Anyone else spending that amount in this league with the right manager it's fair to say would be where Wolves are at the minute as expected. Even the players we have right now could be in the same position - under the right manager. Out of interest what things against Steve Bruce do you not agree with? Surely there cannot be many?
  17. I agree with many of your posts above @sidcow and highlights for me some of the underlying problems that still remain at this club. It does not help whilst also worrying when majority of fans expectations seem to have now slowly and gradually dipped, piss poor management and displays are slowly being acceptable and peppered against any critiscm in some instances and to a point where many believe Dean Smith is now our answer. Worrying. I just hope our chairman and co. can see through this and have our actual sights set a little higher.
  18. He never really dropped down but he came down with Newcastle in a view to get them back up, which he did. And possibility being Zatman that yeah he won't come here, but no chance..? I guess the same was said about Terry too. Now I am not saying that he will deffo leave Newcastle and say, oh yes Villa.. let's go! But you would hope that A, we atleast try to get someone of this calibre. B, Have our sights set higher than just the Dean Smith's etc. If I had said months ago the same thing but for Pulis instead, I guess your answer may have also been similar and he wouldn't come anywhere near the Championship either if he where to leave WBA with plenty of other clubs in the Prem would snap him up!.. he lands up at Middlesvilla! In a world where football has gone to a different level I would say that at first glance maybe not possible, but it wouldn't be nigh impossible either. If Tony/Villa come along and said right Ashley, heres potentially £6m waiting, we want to talk to Rafa. I don't think it should be totally written off until the man himself where to say no, but to just assume he would say no is debatable.
  19. Could you explain what like then? And why you think he won't be?
  20. Loans are available. I have said all season Hogan is shit and agree with you on that one. The summer funds will come from the man running the club, ideally promotion and tv deals etc. Some decent manager will do it as it is not that bad a job surely?
  21. True, but it is only January they do not have funds. With the players we already have I don't think much cash will be needed, providing we get a manager who will be able to get the best out of our current crop I do not see too much problem, but finding a decent manager willing to go with this is the tricky side. This is a great challenge for anyone worth their salt in management though.
