  1. 15 goals would be awesome. In the league, don't care what happens against Scunthorpe in the FA cup
  2. Yeah but you just said it didn't you. Two gadgets you have to carry around. I totally agree, the cameras on the phones are crap; even the best ones. Sure they brag about megapixels but we all know they don't count for shit when the rest inside there is not worthwhile. The pictures are always blurry on the sides. I am positive the iPhone just changed the way all mobile producers will work in the future. When the phone, camera and mp3-player is all complete in one good enough gadget I guess I will be happy. They have managed the mp3 player and phone to some degree, the camera is poor but like I said earlier, every other producer should look over their shoulders.
  3. Yes the N95 is the obvious pick but: 1) It costs twice as much 2) It doesn't look very good, it's contruction isn't very solid and the menus are somewhat poorer than the best on mobile phones When you take it up from your pocket it always open itself up and it really should have been more compact. It has everything the iPhone has, it's just that iPhone is SO much better when it comes to grapchis and entertainment. No, it doesn't have the same communication abilities but seriously, other than business people, who needs it? Myself fit into the iPhone bracket, superior music and entertainment pack - and it's exterior is kind of second to none.
  4. No substance? It misses some important features but for those who don't need these communication specs such as EDGE and 3G (I guess that is most of us) it's state of the art. The screen and gadget is immense, the mp3 player is unique and the graphics on it spectacular. Being their first attempt I would say this is kind of worrying for pretty much every other producer of mobile phones. Stop bitching with the "I hate Apple and therefore I have to hate everything they make" without even trying it. Apple is a joke? I dear remind you they released the phone in the States back in June or something and they just realeased the phone with the same appearance in the UK. The same phone will come to Europe in a matter of months, perhaps smaller countries like Sweden and Norway as well. The same phone, and let's say March or April. I guess they will introduce a smaller and better phone next year, maybe not? But excuse me, doesn't every other producer do the same? K700, K750, K800 and K850, it's kinda hard to follow the trends nowadays. And on top of that; the price is spectacular. I just paid 399 dollars for mine as a friend is bringning it over from California. Top that.
  5. Ridge should go visit a tan studio before his skin dies. And for the record, looks like Barry has been there already
  6. He is the happiest bloke alive. Never done anything to actually deserve it and collects 5M quid a year? Dream job!
  7. I just got Heroes season 1 on DVD, viewing on DVD is much better than watching on the computer
  8. Please keep to the rule that this thread is for questions/comments for the General, thanks. Blandy
  9. I am pretty sure SGE doesn't rate Zat Knight that highly anymore, and who cares what he said years ago?
  10. i find this a strange point. these people professionally own and run a football club. if you accuse them of not knowing a single thing about football, it appears to me that you are accusing them of being unprofessional. i don't see how you can separate the two. They are very professional as business men, but they don't know much about football now do they? Take the General for instance. He keeps replying about his faith in MON and how he trusts MON and that he is the greatest guy in the game. But what does he know about other managers? Reading many of his comments, it's pretty obvious that he didn't really follow "soccer" before he got related to the Villa. Sure he knows a thing or two, but I am getting pretty fed up with this blind trust shit. Any employee should be followed and guided, I am not a fan of this MON above Villa thing going on, which has led to our beloved club doing poor business in the market this summer.
  11. As some years go by and our new regime get to know the game better I know we are going to challenge. As of now, this season, we aren't going to challenge for shit. To me (and let me stress, ME) it seems like the entire thing is a little bit amateurish, I am not saying they are not professional, it's just that most of them don't know a single thing about football. Not only is the squad too little, and without a miracle it's going to be far too little after the window shuts, but our reputation has probably been a little affected after we were bigged up and have now fallen to the ground. Surely players must think of us in a different way now that no-one of particular reputation has joined us (e.g Ljungberg or Bent), we have gotten in few (when we needed the most) and when no-one from within the club has gone out and... you know... talked up the club a bit. Letting know we are competing. To be big you have to first think big and then act big. Surely we aren't aiming for Eto'o or Henry, but don't tell me we can't bring in Bent, Huntelaar, Sneijder or even Defoe when they are all playing for lesser clubs knowing about the popularity the English league has in the European countries. Well, if MON thinks Harewod is going to add up in the battle against Spurs who has four attackers who easily beat him then he is very wrong. What's another year dangling around 10th place after spending 3/4 of the year in 14th? Well, I fear that it might give our competitors such as Man City and Newcastle, as well as Tottenham, another year to take a step further whilst we are standing still. Exactly where we have been the last ten years.
  12. What - are you kidding me? That is very, very poor in my opinion. Do you have any idea why? Thanks for the answer btw.
  13. General sir, can we please get to see the training pitches at the new facility? As a footballer that's what excited me the most
  14. SWP is a much better player in my eyes, he just needs games and stability. He hasn't gotten it at Chelsea. Imagine being thrown into the pitch and you have to perform or else Joe Cole or Arjen Robben are going to kick you out for two months. Hopeless scenario, even if he plays good (which he did recently) he is benched the next day for some reason.
  15. Up here we aren't really born into religion and very few go to church, so it's not a real issue. Also, when we see what religion does to the world it's not very encouraging to "join in" on anything. Especially in the Muslim parts of the world where religion is the excuse for acting like animals
  16. I too don't think Kevin Doyle will do anything next season, I smell a bigtime flop for the club that signs him!
  17. You don't necessarily need to have at least one player to bang in the goals - a victory is enough yes? Gudjohnsen and Carew would be a handful, even though it wouldn't be expected for any of them to score more than 10-12 goals.
  18. How many midfield options do you want ? Reo Coker, Barry, Petrov, Gardner, Young, Maloney, Davis, Berger, Osbourne ... that's quite a variety to mix and match for any given game (IMO) But very few of them are good enough for where we are heading. Reo-Coker isn't signed yet and isn't proven, Barry is our man yes, Petrov will get better I have no doubt about it, Gardner is not proven at all and might have a tough season, Young I have hopes for, Maloney is not proven, Davis is on his way out after a tough season, Berger is old and injury prone and Osbourne isn't good enough as of now. We need proven quality
  19. If MON signs Reo-Coker and that's it for our midfield I am not too happy, but with Sneijder or someone like him as well I would soon change my view. You need alternatives for the games Arsenal away and Sunderland at home. Also, players dip in form even though they are fit. Having a certain spot in the team is never good. Sure Barry and Carew is always going to start, like Henry and Fabregas, but players like Mellberg, Petrov, Young and Agbonlahor needs to be pushed all the way.
  20. Ashley Young was signed as a right midfielder (in my mind at least), but he was tried as a striker. I am certain this was just a try out from MON, he sees Young as a winger. Barry was tried out in the middle and we had Berger on the left and in the middle, Young on the right etc etc. Now what do you think MON has in mind over positions and possible transfer when you take this into account? I reckon Barry a left midfielder (like Giggs without pace/which is Giggs right now) and Young on the right as a winger, like Ronaldo. I like the defensive/attacking blend which many teams have. It gives you a perfect attacking and defending formation, because that's what we want. I don't want us to have the perfect defensive record because it would mean we don't score enough goals. Also, I don't want us to go gung-ho like Spurs because that would mean letting in too many goals. What do you think?
  21. I agree with GlastonSpur at this one, I remember I followed the transfer closely and after West Ham had a bid accepted for 10+ millions we were the only one to bid after they failed to reach an agreement. If I remember correctly their bid wasn't accepted, was it 6,5 million? They have a very similar player in Aaron Lennon and don't really need Young as much as we do
  22. Sonic_bouma: How many times have you seen Sanli Tuncay play?
  23. Carew had been at big clubs and never laid down his marker - that's why another one didn't want to take a chance on him Sanli Tuncay isn't as good as people make him out to be - he is a FM gem and that's why people big him up
  24. Fernando Torres is a huge talent, a huge name and he is like 22. Always played in the same team, which have never been in title contention, can probably pick the club he wants to join, except Real Madrid of course who wants no business with Atl. Madrid. John Carew on the other hand has no proven goalscoring record, he has a history of injuries and his career is on the downer as he stepped down from a Champions League team to a mid-table Premiership club, it also didn't seem like many clubs, if any, were interested. I know you are not saying these are similar types of deals but in my eyes they are lightyears away
