  1. Spoken like a true loser about a losing team going out of the cup - which was very important to us. Extremely important. WTF!? Positives? You are aware that we are playing a very crap team from Austria that we should be beating ten out of ten times when it comes to a double tie - that would relegate with ease if they were in the Premiership? This is a very sad day for Aston Villa Football Club, and I dread what would have happened if we had lost 5-0 to Liverpool and this happened. There would be MON OUT posters everywhere.
  2. I guess anything under 2-0 should be accepted as decent tonight. We should go out with a 4-6-0 defensive unit and a 4-5-1 offensive unit. We are going to be battered hard. If Davies isn't playing and we have to field some Youth player then MON needs to get a real lesson from somebody over him in the hierarchy.
  3. I had huge hopes for him like everyone else - and in pre-season he looked good. However, when he gives a performance like against Wigan we can all understand he is not anywhere near the best players in the league. Sure, you had Everton who let in 6 goals at home to Arsenal but at least we know their players are capable of keeping the goal shut. Cuellar has always looked out of sorts on the right back and now his gruesome PL displays have continued. Looks shaky when running, looks like he doesn't control his body that easily and his passing is poor.
  4. 1. The grit and determination amongst the lads was non-existent which is very sad for an opener. Lack of business a factor? Like they didn't care at all. 2. Atmosphere in the stands was also very low. The fans didn't seem very excited, and after 45 minutes, I can't say I was either. Very strange indeed. 3. MON is obviously not a tactical genius - but somehow all the pundits say stuff like "MON can bring on someone who'll totally change the game". 4. We were tactically beaten by a rookie manager and we were outclassed by a mediocre (at best) side - we rarely gave them a scare at all. 5. Not playing in midweek and then a beaten Liverpool at Anfield - do I smell our worst start to the season ever in the Prem? Friedel - 6 Some flaps but also a few decent saves Shorey - 4 Very poor and created their first goal with a stupid backhead with no aim Cuellar - 5 Didn't seem very comfortable, I was very let down after having high hopes for him in the middle. Like Bambi or a big moose on the freeway Davies - 5 See the above. He is young and he is going to develop, however, I do not have the same high hopes for him anymore. Hope I am wrong Beye - 6 Average but sadly amongst our best players on the day Young - 5 He tried at times and had a lot of the ball, but he looked like he didn't care in the end, wasted a lot of opportunities and missed a sitter Delph - 5 You can see that he is an awesome talent, he has no fear and does pick out a tackle as well as a pass. However, he should never have started at all. Petrov - 5 Didn't really look good at all. He is the kind of player who looks good when his partner is good (Barry) but lacks when he has to do more stuff alone Milner - 6 Same old, average Milner story. Not really much happening in terms of attacking contribution but at least he "tries" Heskey - 5 He wins headers and he fights on the pitch, but that is never going to be enough for me. A very limited player whom I'm never going to want in the team that starts a game. I mean, if you can't create anything at home to Wigan then when are you? Limited passing and no creative braincells. Agbonlahor - 3 I seldom give out anything under 4, because it's just stupid to do such a thing. However, Gabby looked overweight, tired and disoriented. How did he get a start MON? Oh that's right, we don't really have much to pick from. Subs: Sidwell - 6 Some drive and a little bit more punch to it all. Delfouneso - 5 Didn't see him Albrighton - 5 See the above We OBVIOUSLY should have done a 451. Friedel - Shorey - Davies - Cuellar - Beye - Young - Delph - Sidwell - Petrov - Milner - Heskey given the injury on L. Young (for left back) and Carew. We are so relient on lack of injuries it's sick... imagine an injury on the defenders, who would cover in the middle? It would be suicide to field Baker or whatever they are called.
  5. Well the season starts and we have had the task of replacing our two best players - none of them have gotten replacements. We have sold an extra central defender as well, which leaves us with two! I wonder who would play away to Liverpool should one of the guys get injured and MON not bring in a new one. However, John Carew was great last night and should definetely go ahead of Heskey in the first game and hopefully it will stay that way forever. We are favourites and this is actually a must-win game in terms of us missing the second game before meeting Liverpool away the following week.
  6. Who cares.... seriously. Would I take him back right now? Yes we haven't replaced him and the season starts in two days. Especially as we haven't replaced Laursen either. Would I take him back in a few years? Couldn't care less about that question and proposition.
  7. Perhaps Carew is tired after hanging out in Puerto Banus every night since they have been there. I met him twice late at night and one of my friends met him another time. I think the clock was 6 or 7 in the morning when I met him and Ashely wandering around with some girls... don't know if they had been drinking but I assume they didn't at that time. No doubt the other night though....
  8. The squad for this game is shocking... I don't even know how many of them look like...
  9. On the goal where Ashley Young scores against Atlante, he looked very fast. Is he not?
  10. What the hell is Mous Salifou doing dere???? I had the impression that we were rid of that donkey!!!
  11. The two greatest teams in the world by far - so this is a final in every sense of the word. Will be very interesting to watch, perhaps not as gung ho as everyone thinks it will be. It will be extremely tense and the pace of the ball will be as high as it gets! People regard United as favs because of Barca's inability to play as a real team and they have also played four games against Chelsea/United the last year without being convincing scoring just once. However, will things turn out the way we think it will? It never does in these matches! Expect a penalty shootout and United to lose this time If I was betting I would toss 1-0 and Vidic to score on a late header, in terms of value that is...
  12. I think it's funny that so many people are angry at Barry for wanting to join Liverpool. There is a reason why he, and not Petrov, is being linked with a club such as them, and not the other way around. Do you think Petrov would have stayed had they made a mid for him? That is hypotetical of course, as they have never shown any interest in the player and neither has any other big club.
  13. The most biased poll ever? One just signed a new contract and the other is perhaps leaving the club... Barry has had several consistent seasons being a club favourite and recently the captain. Petrov played in a Micky Mouse league as an attacking midfielder - joined us and nearly got shipped off due to lack of quality showings. Turned into a more defensive player and got back into the game. Much due to the fact that Barry alongside him is one of the best midfielders in Engand at the moment.
  14. Idiotic thread really and the answer NO is the only right one. And when was Joey Barton such a good player anyway? He is mediocre, and had a little period at Man City where he blossomed but many, many players have done the same before vanishing into nothing.
  15. At least be nearly correct when you make statements such as this one. He was tugged outside the box and just lied down. Clear free kick, but it was outside. And not Clearly inside like you say!
  16. Our two best players in terms of ability and consistency are Martin Laursen and Gareth Barry. Then comes Ashely Young but he can drift out of games for 2 months. If we lose Barry and Laursen I would conclude that we will not be able to sustain the same challenge as this season, no matter who replaces them. I think MON will never be able to replace the two.
  17. I also think there were only two valid penalty claims, but then again the two of them were crystal clear and Øvrebø saw them.
  18. When it comes to big decisions at board level and in the business world, you always have to have an alternative before making drastic changes. I ask the incredible people who have decided to choose "no" - who on earth would do a better job?
  19. Gerrard or Vidic, depends on who wins the Premier League if you ask me.
  20. Hey - let's be honest about this: I don't think her producers cared much about the opinion of 50 year old English people when they made the song. Just like indie rock loving people hate RnB, the ones who love it don't care much about that kind of rock you're listening to. And it's not just 12 year old girls who listen to it - it's of course anyone between that age and let's say 35 and perhaps even older in the States. Also, for those who go out RnB is probably the most popular music to be played around the world in clubs next to House music - which tells a tale of the music being easy to listen to as well as making you feel happy. The discussion between musical genres is not worthwhile, no opinion is better than anyone elses. Sure, there are some extremely poor productions within pop music it's frightening to listen to, but hey, that goes for the more respected genres such as rock, guitar, band, bass and drums music as well. Like I said, some 40-50 year old bloke commenting on Rihanna's banger is hardly worthwhile, the opinion is kind of obvious before you're stating it so why bother I guess most of the guys commenting on this thread or the other recent thread about Chris Brown have heard as much as one song from her and still they're slating it for fun. Personal opinion of the song is that within it's genre, and for it's purpose, it was a huge hit. Great build-up and bass use, collaboration with Jay-Z which secures radiotime and MTV openings. It seems making a hit or reaching the "top 10" is the same as being a bad thing these days, especially amongst people who think they know the answer to music - but I guess Rihanna and her bank account don't care much about that. You don't have to play guitar to make great music...
  21. Jesus this forum is heading downhill, why is this in the main forum section? And spare me the "**** off don't read the thread then" bullshit as the mods on here usually are pretty crisp when it comes to throwing away pointless threads.

    Ssssmokin!!

Just about the answer I was expecting, an answer that has got nothing to do with this interesting topic. To die from drinking you have to be an alcoholic and to die from eating you have to be sick, obese and all that. To die from smoking, well, every 5th American or so die from smoking.... need I say more? It's just so unintelligent to smoke it's unreal.... And my aunt died at 49 last year because of cancer after smoking, and my mum's best friend has smoked all her life and just got breast cancer due to it. I know they were "tricked" back in the day, that it wasn't dangerous to smoke and all that, but to start smoking in 2009..... well, it's not very clever.

    Ssssmokin!!

I know it's harsh, but please give me a single reason to smoke when the evidence is there that you die from it. And please don't give me some "you can also die from drinking milk" rebound So in fact, if what I wrote was not true, then give me some valid reasons why smoking doesn't make you a class A idiot.

    Ssssmokin!!

I have to say; all people who smoke are absolute, class A morons and idiots. The facts are; you are certain to get cancer and die, your skin gets grayish, you smell awful and you get yellow fingers/nails.
