  1. I agree. It's not just a let-down from "unrealistic" preseason expectations. There was a punishing and sinister quality to it that I don't think I've really ever experienced as a Villa supporter because of the combination of: the Mings' injury AND the abject failure of Leon Bailey AND the weird desperate pathetic shit Martinez did AND Ollie's ridiculous and perfectly typical miss AND Konsa's error AND not getting Philogene on sooner AND Kamara running around like he was playing a completely different match from everyone else I could go on ... I feel angry about today. We have some serious weaknesses that were exposed, and it's embarrassing. And really, totally unexpected. So yeah, it's humiliating. BUT BUT BUT ... it's just football. I don't take it too seriously, I would hope There are children in cancer wards and refugees fleeing wars and people starving to death in the world, and sometimes it's important to remember this is all just entertainment, isn't it. But yeah, what a shit experience -- in the context. It was, all in all, a very Villa day, I suppose. We'll probably lose to Everton and beat Citeh now, you watch.
  2. I'm amazed at how much vitamin B12 and key amino acids and complete protein. Not for everyday, but if you eat meat, they are very healthy in moderation. And they practically give them away at our local meat counter. I got two big veal kidneys for about £1.
  3. Still feels unreal to me. Arguably our most important player apart from Emi Martinez. And he's ****-ing gone suddenly? The whole Villa paradigm is going to have to shift for Aston Villa and Emery and the squad this year. There's no papering over such a loss. He's a defining player for a certain approach -- the approach that's been winning. It's really up to NSWE to signal very clearly that they're going to step up and make sure Villa make the transfers we need to deal with this loss. Players get hurt. This one is a terrible loss. Time for NSWE to support some aggressive and smart transfers.
  4. There is no silver lining in the Mings injury, but the mauling the Villa have suffered today provides a stern reality test for us. It DOES seem much better to get disabused of any false consciousness about our weaknesses BEFORE we're deep in the tumult of the season and the transfer window closes. We are what we are today, not what we dream of being next year, after all. We have to deal in facts, too, not merely in hopes and wishful thinking. It all feels a bit like one of those RPG games where you've earned some pretty good magic and armor points but forgotten to spend them. Well, we better ****-ing use our armor and magic points now!
  5. I just feel like there's not a lot to debate any more when it comes to Leon Bailey. He is a liability for us. He certainly isn't good enough to start. There's not some imaginary grouping of resentful haters unwilling to believe in his talent. I think any reasonable person looking at the quality on our squad right now has to see that he's not doing some of the most critical tasks we need him to do. Are we supposed to be feel bad for noticing that? It's not personal. It's not fair. It doesn't matter what so-and-so said when he was signed, or what so-and-so says now. He's simply not good enough, sadly. I feel really sad about it, too, because I find his personal story poignant and his family really cool, but it's just football, and, well, he's a very wealthy young man who will be just fine in life, materially at least. He's playing MLS or Championship-level football, so it's not like he doesn't have a future. But I don't think Emery will risk starting him again in league play. That would reflect poorly on Emery. Who can honestly say that he hasn't been given lots of chances? How many more times can we afford to keep trying?
  6. Thanks. About right for me, too. I would rate Cash a 4 and Bailey 3 -- I actually think Bailey hurt us. I'd give Bouba a 6 -- poor coaching and fatigue, I felt, and Watkins a 4. The worst of it all is I know my Man U fan mate will not say anything about this. Whenever Villa really suck, he doesn't say a word -- and somehow that makes it sting worse lol.
  7. At the risk of sounding condescending -- and I can think of worse things -- can we not police people's emotions? If someone feels gutted, let them feel gutted? If they feel a twinkle of hope, let them have their twinkle of hope? Just a thought.
  8. Painful. Need to assess, work some transfers, bench or sell Bailey.
  9. It must be said. That is a big reality. There are no ifs or buts about that. It’s tempting to romanticise football, but much of it just does come down to who can afford the incredible players.
  10. Oh yeah: Newcastle have spent millions, too. Perhaps has an effect.
  11. Digne, Diaby, Martinez, Torres and Kamara have all been good today. Let’s stay hopeful.
  12. Do we just never have our forwards to going forward together? I’m so sick of this. Where is our coordination upfront?
  13. We are missing Buendia badly, too. He **** up Newcastle’s shit.
  14. I’m surprised we’re not losing by more at this point — and that we don’t have a red. Need Carlos, Tielemans and Philogene in. Bailey, Cash, and Digne off.
  15. All would be forgiven if he would occasionally score a goal. But none.
  16. I do feel a lot of faith in Diego, too. He’s an amazing player. He will step up.
