    Think this one will be a real tough game. I don’t expect us to have the freedom of the park like our last game with them. Big games needed from Ross, Grealish and Traore to create the chances!

    I guess this is true. It’s all ifs and buts but I do think he would get better with game time irrespective of his limitations. Still, he won’t be getting ahead of McGinn, Luiz, Barkley and hopefully Sanson so you certainly have a point about his suitability as a squad player.

    I like Nakamba. I think given a proper run in this new look Villa side he would improve.

    I loved Benteke but this is true. He was always angling for a move to a ‘top team’. To think he may end up playing for Albion and getting relegated.

    We are a good team that’s for sure. Love this from the BBC live coverage: Newcastle sign unwanted players from bigger clubs. Villa sign the best players from lesser clubs. Villa's way is cheaper and better. John McGinn and Oli Watkins being prime examples. We have always paid over the odds for players with little return on investment. We are building something special here from top to bottom.

    Fantastic article above. Konsa is going to be a top top player. For me, he is the best English centre half on current form. Give this man a new contract!

    Think there has been a photo of Emi as well?? His Instagram suggests he is back in training So just RW and the subs bench to fill? As already mentioned, Elmo will probably go wide right. We don’t have much of a bench anyway. We will have to wait until tomorrow, but it seems it could have been a lot worse judging by these photos.

    Bit of a free hit this one in my opinion. Obviously want to go out and win it, but not knowing the state of player fitness and without training it is a huge ask. Rather this game than a game that ‘on paper’ we would normally be favourites for.

    We should not be playing this Wednesday. However, I wonder who actually has COVID. It may just be 1-2 potential starting 11. The issue is we will not have been able to get the team working on the training ground in preparation. I really do not understand why Villa would want this to go ahead?! We have no other cup commitments like many teams so our schedule isn’t bad. Play it later in the season. Anyway - precedent had already been set with 3 other clubs - Newcastle, Fulham and Man City.

    Disgrace if the FA and an absolute lack of class from Liverpool. I would expect them to put a team out to win, but half of their first 11 against 17 year olds. **** em.

    We are a very good side. Huge work in progress and making big strides forwards. We gave them a very good game. This game went to script. Absolutely terrible decision for the penalty and the ref let too many fouls go without bookings. The inconsistency in decisions is absolutely atrocious.
