  1. Bruce hasn't forgotten, with the sale of Amavi he'll have made Tony 20 mill back. He hasn't assembled an expensive squad, he's done the opposite AND improved it, yet still gets flack.
  2. So we really are getting freaky now. Not only do we want constant manager change, but we are also now looking back romantically at sheer failures of managers thinking what could have been had they had longer. This is messed up.
  3. Tis all speculation my friend, I think it is likely. each to their own.
  4. Ahh I'm boring myself. Just grinding the old axe. There was a lot of complaining about yesterday and it was mostly aimed at the manager, I do get that, I felt it too, but opinion aside I have to go on results as it's only fair and a lot of teams fecked up yesterday in their first competitive game so we are unchanged IMHO and we will have some serious options very soon with Kodjia, Adomah and Jedi back. I'm as impatient as the rest, cannot wait until next game. UTV.
  5. We don't have winning football is a safe statement, because in our 1 game this season, we drew. And our fans do want it all, now, that is evident in the bruce thread. I'm not stating like a loon that we WILL be fine, purely hoping, but we are what we are which is a championship team and the level of dismissing of teams like Hull is ridiculous, and that is down to a historical superiority that we all feel, but which is currently not backed up. All I'm after is a bit of humility about our situation, slagging off manager after manager, 21 year old players, teams like Hull - is all complete folly. As a fan base we're pretty blumin bitter, and this constant dredging up the past and the season just gone is not going to help us in the here and now, it will trap us.
  6. Just reliving the most immediate memory of this manager. Yes his name was sung, and yes he should have done better, yes also that Lerner screwed him. I still wouldn't want him in charge now, living off his champions league win at a german club etc etc etc etc.
  7. This won't play well on a fan forum, but I almost typed that the problem is the fans. The levels of expectation and impatience are off the scale. It sucks being sh*te, when Villa is used to better, but the divine right that we should be better is BS. We earn the right to be in the premier league and we earn the right to win the championship. If that means we play cr*p football and bludgeon our way up then so be it. Who wouldn't want sexy football and a 'philosophy' but right now we are absolute beggars and should humbly take with both hands any which way we can of getting promoted. F*ck ideals.
  8. Put the fork down and come quietly.
  9. Answering an Iraqi fan on a low level club question - Tony is a living ledge This Iraqi guy is awesome, cmon doctor lets get him sitting with Xia at the next home game, return flights paid for!
  10. No good in the championship, he'd get constantly licked.
  11. Well it's that old chestnut, hopefully we will get promoted, and should that happen I imagine we'll all be pleased. Either way it goes I also hope there'll be none of this I told you so nonsense, we only have faith after all.
  12. Bruce has actually made back 20 mill for Tony when Amavi goes.
  13. But do you remember all those times a fit Jedi played and we tended to win? We now have cover. What value did we get last term from our squad? Not a lot. What do you think to having a straight fight for places between Elmo and Adomah? I don't think Bruce is a tactical mastermind, but he has gone and got us a squad that will in a blunt enough fashion, do what worked best last season. I suppose I have to agree, he ain't a great manager, but I do have faith in his tried and tested plan for promotion, and I think I am coming to realise that what Bruce does best is to go out and get those players that you need in order to do an old fashioned job.
  14. I think a new manager should definitely get to start a new season with a clean slate (note Bruce has never started a season for us before).
  15. Yes and let's casually forget that he came to Villa having to work with RDM's expensive flops. He's worked some serious magic with the quality and balance of this squad, has had 1 competitive game to use them, but is getting judged almost entirely on what happened last season. I don't see Bruce as an incredibly gifted manager, but I do think that our success depends greatly on who is playing for us, and this season we have some actual quality so I'm optimistic. But as ever, each to their own opinions.
  16. Well I just don't get this wrapping up last season into this one to make 'a season'.
  17. Well you may never know if the manager was the right guy if you sack him after 6 months.
  18. Sooo let's swap managers again, having not even given the current incumbent an actual season of football? It doesn't really matter that Bruce is not Guardiola, what matters is that this club stops the drama and insists on stability. We will never, ever, get a settled team if we can't give managers any time. Bruce will have to be same/worse than RDM over 10 games to get sacked - that won't happen, I am certain, and if it means all the moaning carries on then good, this club needs less drama, more time and above all some patience.
  19. This is my point, not just if we'd won, but if we'd won and looked like we deserved it. Why not just if we'd won?
  20. There were reasons to be cheerful, then some orrible similarities to last year too. However, 1st game of the season, other teams also lost points so not the disaster it is being painted as in some quarters. Time will tell, but we have the players we need now - think it was only Hutton and Bacuna who started the first game last season - and hopefully they are replaced sooner than later!
  21. Sorry would post the link but am on shoddy smartphone. Probably just speculation, but music to our ears.
  22. Tad harsh, credit where it's due, he scored.
