  1. We question by seeing the end result which is game time. Coaching the players during the week from fitness, tactics, style, game plan and everything else is all in preparation for the game. If game doesn’t produce (which is not only about winning) then that has to do mainly with preparation, which leads back to coaching. I have never said that, what I have said was that Gerrard was brought in to improve it and hasn’t to date. It’s early, I agree, but I would’ve hoped to see something…I just saw the same things Mate, that’s a distraction tactic…but let’s go with that line. I didn’t want either of those either, we were supposed to have an upgrade and not a side step. Smith, Gerrard, Potter, Howe…I don’t see a difference to be honest of level. If Gerrard has a higher ceiling he needs to get there quicker. Newcastle and Brighton had better players in crucial positions? I definitely don’t agree with that. Yes we had a problem at DM but I can’t agree with you. As for putting more emphasis on being hard to beat, I’m not sure that’s a positive position for Gerrard. They both finished above us, we Howe and Potter better at what was needed for the games then? Anyway it doesn’t matter now, it’s just what he(Gerrard) does this coming season. For me he needs to step it up, no point being a side ways move on Smith, he needs to be better. It looks like the club will invest in him, so he needs to deliver. The jury is still out on him, but he has time, he just needs to deliver.
  2. I agree but his coaching so far has been questionable, we were told that he needed a summer and his own buys, so next season he needs to start showing us because excuses start to become thin because he’ll have more of his own players to go with the players who he already has that so far don’t seem to be doing well under his coaching/tactics/style. We can only hope it works!

    Keinan Davis

Maybe they are worried about his injury record vs the fee likely for him. That injury towards the end of the season may have spooked them.
  4. Yep it was so incredibly funny, how did I miss the hilarity of the comedy!
  5. History suggests when people make comments like this they generally haven’t heard anything, so you’ll either tell us what it is otherwise it’s pointless making that comment above because it tells us nothing and looked at with skepticism.
  6. It’s a fake Twitter account not the real Villareport
  7. Is that genuine VillaReport account, it hasn’t come up on my Twitter feed and looking at the account I can’t see it? just checked it, pretty sure that is the fake VillaReport account Read his other tweets they are all parody tweets, it’s a joke account and not the real Villareport
  8. He did it to somebody else as well but aside from that I just don’t think he’s very good at this level, that’s what I’m basing my view on. Just watching him when Burnley played I just didn’t rate him in many aspects of his game. He’s close to being 33, he’s not as good as the four CB’s we have so I’m not sure this has legs.
  9. Ok, not sure many will agree on here. He’s an awful footballer at this level.
  10. I think Archer will be loaned anyway. Yeah, you would imagine a starting striker given the players, on the whole, are starters he’s buying. As for the other two, it will depend if he plays one or two upfront, it was a bit of a mix at the end of season. In that situation, having 3 strikers sounds about right. Hmmm, not sure. We aren’t likely to buy just one more player, so a couple of positions, therefore for me a striker is within those few priorities of positions we need upgrading. I think it’s a weakness in our team at the moment. I guess it’s just fans differing views of what is needed. We need to sell those anyway, I’m not sure if they stayed they add much at the level Gerrard wants anyway.
  11. I disagree. We’ve heard a couple of times the notion of selling either of those two dismissed by the club but we’ve also been told the club are interested in a forward. While you can’t see it, everything we are being told suggests otherwise.
  12. I agree a lot of the set pieces weren’t great but I remember many times when the likes of Mings and Konsa not hitting the target when it seemed easier to hit the target than not. Anyway off topic for this thread so I’ll get back to buying players talk.
  13. See, I’m not convinced he does. He wants them around because he needs options but I think he was getting frustrated with them, they also don’t really fit his style, they weren’t delivering so I wasn’t surprised with Suarez rumours, and/or Percy and some other credible sources saying about interest in a forward. Gerrard isn’t here to buy back up/squad players with most of his buys being starters and I don’t think the same will be about the rumoured forward we are interested in.
  14. I’m the opposite mate, I think they will be buying a main striker for reasons I’ve outlined before. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.
  15. Wow, just feels like other teams CB’s occasionally score on set pieces and ours just don’t but I guess based on the stats that’s not true. Thanks for the info.
  16. Seems pretty poor return for most of those players, I think only Cash seems ok
  17. More Bale talk. My gut feel is that I’m not interested in him coming here
  18. Can’t agree, McGinn scored 3 league goals, Luiz 2, Konsa 2, Mings 1…these figures aren’t enough. How are our big CB’s not scoring more for example.
  19. He’s always been honest before when misinfo has come out so I’d be surprised if he was lying this time. He comments on things when he thinks appropriate so for the moment I’ll take him for his word. NV’s post that I reposted on the last page are slightly different so maybe they are the real kits…who knows!
