  1. This part of the story makes me immediately think it's bullshit. Just a bitter Spanish outlet bothered by the money of the Premier League. https://www.elconfidencial.com/deportes/futbol/liga/2023-01-14/calabazas-merino-aston-villa-clausula-real-sociedad_3556769/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=BotoneraWeb
  2. Everybody saying Ashley had him in his pocket when he's the reason Leeds scored. He's a hell of a bargain for that price. I don't think he'll ever be anything special, but squad players in the Premier League for £4m? That's good business.
  3. Looks like I've found the wife's account on here.
  4. I'm happy for him tonight, but I also remember Coutinho tearing this Leeds team apart as well. Also, Leon wasted an opportunity with Ings by himself and nobody to stop him to dribble into multiple Leeds defenders and lose the ball. He does that far too often to ever be a consistent threat against a team that has a plan defensively that isn't RUN REAL HARD. If he could run without looking down the entire time he might become unstoppable.
  5. First image is Jacob, second is Guendouzi. They're somewhat similar, but I think Jacob is a better goal-scorer while Guendouzi is more of a creator for others. They could easily play together with Kamara behind them.
  6. When it comes to carrying the ball forward and drawing fouls, yes. That's one of the reasons fans of other clubs hate him so much.
  7. Yes, it would be awful to buy somebody from Serie A like Liverpool did with Salah, or Tottenham have done with Perisic and Kulusevski lately. Because, after all, one player has failed. By the way, Lukaku is struggling with Inter too. It might be Lukaku.
  8. Agree. Finding a striker right now means vastly overpaying for one because everybody wants one. That's an area that's better to address in the summer.
  9. They're different players, but Guendouzi would be the most "Grealish-like" player we've had since selling Jack. We don't have anybody in our midfield capable of carrying the ball forward the way he does, and he draws a lot of fouls.
  10. Sign everybody French. No longer Villans, but Vauriens.
  11. Hard to do that when the manager was hired in December, there's a World Cup break, and the transfer window is January. What you're describing is likely what will happen in the summer.
  12. It was brought up here earlier, and you're right, you will be ridiculed for it, but it makes sense for what Emery wants. Like a lot of Man United players, Wan-Bissaka is not as good or bad as everybody believes based on the way the team is covered. He's better defensively than Matty, and about the same going forward. Also, while he's far from great, his crossing isn't terrible. If you go back two seasons when was the last time he played regularly, he had more goal creating actions per 90 than Reece James and Kyle Walker.
  13. The guy can't get into a PL match under three different managers but plays well against a League Two side. He must be great!
  14. I don't think it would be a popular move, but I don't think it'd be a bad one, either. However, I don't think you can just bring in AWB. You'd have to bring in a considerable upgrade over Bailey on the right or opponents won't even worry about defending that side.
  15. Does the Felix signing make Pulisic more available? Let's sign McKennie and Pulisic. I've always said the way to winning titles is signing Americans.
  16. Well, I have great news. If we can't beat Stevenage with our bench, we weren't winning the FA Cup with our starters.
  17. The same fans upset with Unai for today's lineup would be roasting him if he threw the normal XI out there today and we then lost to Leeds Friday. A Premier League bench should be able to beat a League Two side. This is on the players.
  18. Leon Bailey is what happens when you scout the numbers but not the player. He's empty calories. He "creates chances" in the sense that he makes a pass into dangerous areas but the pass is rarely a good one. For instance, the cutback to Ings. If he sends it to him with pace, Ings is able to get a shot off. Instead he gingerly rolls it to him and allows the defender to break it up.
  19. As a Napoli fan it's my duty to inform you that Villa can't afford to pay for Osimhen.
  20. I've never liked Bailey. Anybody here who still thinks there's a useful player in there either doesn't pay attention or just refuses to admit they're wrong. He does something cool once in a while and then spends the next two months giving the ball away, refusing to defend, or refusing to make runs to give another player space. He's nothing but step overs.
  21. We could also use a few players willing to do something when they don't have the ball. Or we could by more Baileys and Coutinhos and wonder why we can't crack a low block as they stand there refusing to move until they receive a pass.
