  1. Not a lot out there. This one is extremely long.
  2. For sure, we could use a Gattuso type in our midfield. The Camara kid I mentioned earlier is that type. Not the same build as Gattuso, but always finds himself in the middle of it
  3. When he took over Napoli had 9 points through 10 matches. They've had 50 in the 27 since he took over. That's more PPM (1.85) than he had at Milan (1.72). Anyway, this is far too much Napoli discussion for a Villa transfers thread.
  4. This isn't your grandfather's Serie A. More goals scored per match in Italy than England this year. GOALS PER MATCH Bundesliga: 3.21 Serie A: 3.02 Premier League: 2.72 Ligue 1: 2.52 La Liga: 2.48
  5. Ha, ironically enough there's a lot of smoke about Boga going to Napoli right now too. Likely as a Callejon replacement. As for Berardi, he's no longer "The Future of Italian Football," but I think he's still an excellent player. The question is if Sassuolo will want to let him go. They've been pretty adamant about wanting to keep Berardi and Locatelli etc. How serious they are about that? I don't know. It's hard to read the situation there as it is so many places right now because of the pandemic and its financial impact. In the end, I think if somebody decides they really want Berardi and hit the magic number, Sassuolo would move him along.
  6. Yeah, most expect Allan to reunite with Ancelloti at Everton. Callejon was somebody I was arguing we should go after in January as his contract is up at the end of August. He's probably older than what they'll be looking for now, but if he's available on a free, I still think it could be a sharp signing.
  7. Couple of defensive midfielders I like that could help solidify us. Manuel Locatelli, Sassuolo - Very disruptive and can move the ball forward when at his feet. Mohamed Camara, RB Salzburg - Similar to Locatelli, but still unproven playing in Austria. Love the potential here, and he's only 20. An absolute bulldog. Eduardo Camavinga, Stade Rennais - You know, just in case we want to outbid Real Madrid for somebody.
  8. No where yet, but it's not a matter of if but when once the season ends.
  9. Not a bad idea, though I do wonder if he'll take on a larger role with Osimhen coming in and Milik on the way out. As a Napoli fan, I've felt that Gattuso should play him on the wing more than centrally, as he seems to be more effective there.
  10. Wouldn’t mind going after Karlan Grant this summer. Sneaking suspicion we could have him from Huddersfield for around £10 million this summer instead of £25 million next summer.
  11. So they’re just like everybody else then?
  12. I wouldn’t expect him to show up and score 10 goals, but the eyes and numbers suggest he would be a boon to our attacking capabilities. Excellent with the ball at his feet and can dribble as well as pass. We don’t have nearly enough of that in our team at present.
  13. If we do lose Jack, I hope we go after Josip Brekalo from Wolfsburg. I know a lot of people on this board like Milot Rashica, but I think Brekalo is on a par with Rashica and could prove to be better. Not all that dissimilar to Eze, either, and could be more of a bargain.
  14. I like Chiesa, but I do think the purchase price is of higher quality than the player at this point.
  15. What can you tell me about Josh Dasilva?
  16. If we're looking for help on the wing maybe we should look into this Ronaldo fella.
  17. Maybe instead of signing Brentford's best players we can sign the person who signs all their best players.
  18. Yes, every time I watch Fiorentina it's hard to not see Milenkovic. He stands out for all the right reasons too, not the other reasons CBs sometimes stand out. I haven't seen much of Lopes, so can't speak to him.
  19. Some CB targets since we shouldn't forget we did just allow 67 goals Big Money Starter Types Boubacar Kamara - Olympique Marseille Jules Kounde - Sevilla Nikola Milenkovic - Fiorentina Not Too Expensive, Could Start, Could Be Depth Marin Pongracic - Wolfsburg Robin Le Normand - Real Sociedad Stefan Posch - Hoffenheim Axel Disasi - Reims Perr Schuurs - Ajax Of the big money types, I think Nikola Milenkovic is somebody you could get for around £25 million now and be able to sell him for £50 million in a few years. He's an excellent defender, but he's also a much better threat on set pieces and corners than anybody we have by a mile.
  20. Might be too old (he's 27) considering the philosophy of what this club has said it's looking for, but I'd be quite pleased if we made a big splash and got Alassane Plea from Monchengladbach. Had 10 goals and 10 assists in 27 appearances. 0.42 xG per 90. Very creative player, for himself and others. Also would take a look at Arthur Cabral at Basel. He's 22 and would likely be in the £5 million range. Like his potential.
  21. You're certainly entitled to that opinion, but the numbers suggest they're far closer than you think. This season: WESLEY Non-penalty goals per shot: 0.16 xGoals per shot: 0.21 xGoals/90: 0.36 GOMEZ Non-penalty goals per shot: 0.25 xGoals per shot: 0.15 xGoals/90: 0.29
  22. I agree. You'd certainly like to see him score more and become a better finisher, but he was doing a lot of the things Dean Smith asks him to do. Wins the ball in the air, holds on to it and moves it. He's not great at anything, but he's good at those things. If he becomes a more reliable finisher he has a chance to be very good for us. And I make the comment about Gomez because Gomez is a better finisher at this point than Wesley is, but he's not as good at the other stuff, so he's very much dependent on service right now.
  23. After seeing how Villa fans reacted to Wesley's play this year, can't wait to see how they'd feel about Gomez.
