  1. Thought the game changed when dos Santos was taken off. After that, Mexico seemed content to camp in their own half.
  2. Brazil: 2 Chile: 1 Colombia: 2 Uruguay: 0 Netherlands: 1 Mexico: 2 Costa Rica: 1 Greece: 0 France: 2 Nigeria: 0 Germany: 2 Algeria: 1 Argentina: 4 Switzerland: 2 Belgium: 3 USA: 1
  3. Hmmm, Ilitch owns the local baseball team not the NFL team and as far as I can recall, has never owned a soccer team. Otherwise, I agree he could potentially be a great owner. Wants to win and isn't afraid to spend to get there. Also, I'd love to see the little Caesars mascot return with "Villa, villa"
  4. Good response from the eagles. Need a stop now.
  5. NO vs philly should be a shoot out too.
  6. Neither team seems capable of stopping the other. Wouldn't be surprised to see a couple more scores before this is over
  7. I thought it was a worrying sign when Tan showed up on the sideline after the win over Citeh at the start of the season. He paraded around like he'd scored the winning goal himself.
  8. Yeah but I was figuring fla st would win.
  9. I know auburn beat Alabama (and Oklahoma will probably beat Alabama just to make me look like a bigger moron), but I was secretly hoping for Alabama-FSU for the title. (At least ohio st isn't involved)
  10. Haven't seen much of Oklahoma this year, but they're giving Alabama more than I expected.
  11. Yeah, happened right after I said that
  12. Oklahoma needs to be careful here. A quick Bama TD and now a turnover. If they're not careful it could get away from them.
  13. But if we do win it all, are we the best ever?Best ever team or offense? No chance on the first I'm afraid. But there is on the second? Most points, most touchdowns, several other team and individual records. Seems like they should at least be in the conversation. One big strike against them (in my mind) is how offensive the league is as a whole. Most of the best offensive teams in history have been in the last 5-10 years.

  15. I find this all very interesting. We're talking about a third round encounter with a league one team. I'd hope we can make some squad changes and still be able to progress. Then let's see who we get next round. With a good draw we could get to the quarter finals without a major effort. By then we'd know more about our league position and be able to make a better decision about "going for it". With a shit draw, well, then we probably aren't going to get real far anyways.
  16. How I met your mother, IT crowd?? Neither are great, but have their moments. If you're open to longer shows, there are more options as well..
  17. Thoroughly agree. Seconded, this is important. Even if possession in general isn't necessarily critical, it is important that we have the ability to keep possession at key times ie, end of games or to kill momentum. Right now we still seem incapable of doing this, although there was a nice spell at the end of today's game. Used correctly, possession allows you to control tempo and dictate to the opponent. This cane be used not just to up the tempo and pressure the opponent, but also to slow the tempo at key spots.
  18. 1. Villa 2. NE Revs of the MLS - local club for me these last 10-15 yrs 3. None as of now. I've been trying to find a third club to follow, but no one h as stuck for more than a few games, let alone a few seasons. Until then, the half-hearted search continues!
  19. Only positive thought I can cling to is that since we didn't sign another CB maybe it's a sign that Lambert is giving up on 5-3-2. Other than that, I don't know what to think.
  20. With our luck that's probably for the best. If we had an option in the summer, it would guarantee he'd be awful. This way, there's still the possibility that he has a great run in the side and then heads back to Spurs. Sad I know, but I'm clutching at anything positive..
  21. Agree. i also think imo we focus way too much attention on transfer fees. If we can only offer minimal wages, then having a big transfer budget doesn't matter as we won't get the quality players we really need. It'd be like a new company offering your employer a few million for your services and then offering you 1/3 your current salary. You'd laugh them right out of the building.
  22. I couldn't care less if lambert or Lerner or anyone else at Villa talked to the press. Actually, I'd prefer they spent every waking minute figuring out how to get us out of this mess. I fail to see how the manager telling the world that we had a shit game is going to help. As for Kendrick, he's always come across as a decent guy, but his job is to sell papers. Right now, that means riding Lambert, which he's doing.
  23. They did romp their group, finishing top with 15pts over PSV and Napoli but I can't find any evidence of Boateng being involved. According to Soccerway, he's only been in 2 matches this season (both league) logging a grand total of 146 minutes. http://www.soccerway.com/players/derek-boateng/619/
  24. Ha, I should saw seen that coming. Fwiw, I've been a packer fan since long before they were any good. I suffered through many 4-12 seasons back in the 80s/90s. Between that and my affection for Villa, I think I can refute any suspicion of being a gloryhunter!
  25. Hi all. I'm a Packer fan by birth but have been living outside of Boston so have started to follow the Pats a bit. They win too damn often and I'll never feel the same as I do about t he Pack!
