The point is, he didn't give the ball away that much. Certainly not to justify criticism over it.

Our mess of a defence with everyone out of position was costing us plenty of goals. Lets not pretend we were rock solid while this supposed genius move of playing him at rb took place

Come on. Look how he is playing. You think a few games at rb have made that happen?

Poor shots. Passing wise. He attempted over twice as many passes as mcginn and had a better completion percentage.

How did he have a poor game? Passed the ball well most of the time. Spread the play. Won a couple of tackles. An incredible free kick. I'd have him over the other options every game.

That sounds awful. Move abraham from where he is effective and start a striker who has been aysmal for us. Madness.

How is he improving? He dropped a ball, which could have cost us. He gifted them a corner, which could have cost us and chester saved us a goal. He made one save, which all keepers at this level should. So what did he do tonight which was an improvement? Because to me it looked like other performances just that he was fortunate his mistakes didn't cost us.

Back what up? He's 28 and most of his appearances have shown embarassing mistakes. His one where he cost us a corner would be laughed at on a sunday morning down the park. We would be fools to risk sticking with this guy, considering the points he has already cost us and the pressure he puts us under. I am confident a keeper will be signed in january

Overall played well. Sloppy a few times but was good. Wouldn't mind seeing him upfront, abraham has looked poor last few games.

I don't think it was an easy chance but Hogan didn't even seem to want to attack it. He literally does nothing well or better than others we have.

The discussion was are we trying to play different. So it was relevant to that.

Its a good point in regards to this discussion. However Paul Lambert proved that keeping the ball could be very pointless. Literally.

I have no doubt Bruce and xia would have caused more long term damage if they had more time.

That was his view for this one game. I wonder if he thinks scrambling to get a draw with no concern how they got it, would be the best way to get promoted over 40+ games.

It really isn't. And it's a little insulting to suggest this just because you haven't seen what others have. Last night every player in our back 4 attempted over 60 passes each. I've checked the stats and as i suspected, we haven't come close to that in a single game under bruce this season. I suspect it would probably be the case for the majority of games under Bruce. We very clearly are attempting to keep the ball more, starting with our defenders.

Last night, each of our back 4 attempted 60 + passes each. When I have more time i will compare to previous games, but i'll be amazed if we have done that once this season.

You seem to be changing the discussion. Your original point was that you can't see any difference in how we play. It was pointed out to you that we are clearly trying to pass the ball more and build from the back. No one has claimed it works brilliantly so far. Everyone accepts this is still a bruce team and it will take time. But clearly there has been a change and for the first time in a long time, we have played with a consistent style in consecutive matches. It's clear that we are trying to build something now, rather than roll our sleeves up and hope for magic of one of our better players.
