It’s the lack of being able to do the basics that’s staggering with Smith There is no pattern of play, the midfield changes every week Also selling our only striker when we have no replacements is baffling Throwing Drinkwater in when he is clearly miles off the pace is a mind boggling decision The constant fannying about trying to play out from our own 18 yard line when we clearly are not capable is suicidal Not making changes quickly enough when other teams make changes and we are being pushed back is annoying. Smith doesn’t help himself at all at times

A change may fix individual errors Smith likes to play out from the back and always has It doesn’t work though when you have fairly crap players all round, especially at the back and in midfield A simple change in philosophy to get rid of the ball in and around the box would be a good place to start Also telling the midfielders to stop showing for the ball whilst facing their own goal in our own half would be another good idea Hardly rocket science, but mistakes we make over and over and over again We have some fairly pacey forwards, if it danger clear it into the channels and push up instead of trying the Barcelona build up from the 18 yard line None of this will happen with Smith in charge

We can’t defend at all The only times when we look okay is going forward. We have no forward and no focal point Man City are a better team but that was one of the most embarrassing inept performances at Villa Park I have seen in over 30 years A complete shambles all over the park, it’s going to be another shambles Brighton are crap, we are beyond that at present Last weekend was totally clueless and Smith will sleepwalk into the same problems again

Brighton are crap. They are only 3 points above us and we have been largely woeful. Not having a centre forward for this game is criminal. It should be a game we are targeting 3 points from as they are a relegation candidate I think we have given away any chance of a win though by not addressing a Wesley replacement in time I think they will thrash us which given the fact they are not very good is a telling sign
