  1. Not sure on that. When he came he had Downing/Ash at the club I think he genuinely thought he could score goals for fun whilst those two were around (and to be fair he did) but now those two are gone it's hardly surprising the goals stats aren't the same as last season either. Except that the 80k that is often banded around may well be a quite conservative estimate and its well over 100k. The same rumours of him and Gab not getting on are also where this higher wage has been mentioned. I'd like to hear if MM knows. Bent didn't come here just for the money. Very ignorant to say otherwise.
  2. How close are we to 'balancing the books'. It seems we could sell every player and replace them with conference players, yet the board will still want us to reduce the wage bill. This whole financial fair play is total bullshit. We're not going to reach the top 6 again so why is it still being used as an excuse?
  3. Just imagine if he sold Gabby at the same window. And before someone says Gabby love us...Well, he can't love us that much considering he was gonna leave if Houllier was here for another season. Talk about being bitter because he wasn't playing him every game.
  4. Eck is short for Alex. It's no more a "shit" word than, say, "Bill" is as a short version of William. I've never seen a nickname like "Eck" before. I can't see someone going "Alright Eck, how ya doin'?" It just sounds weird.
  5. But I gave the reasons why we was doing so bad last season despite having a better squad. McLeish has had all the time in the world to get the team right and yet he's still messing about. An example is Clark was sitting on the bench for the majority of the season so far and now he's starting. Same with Ireland. What was using Heskey in midfield exactly about? This should have been all addressed in the beginning.
  6. Why is he called Eck anyway? What a shit word.
  7. I don't think it'll be as bad as when we hired McLeish. Probably worse than when we sold Downing though.
  8. so why doesn't Mantis rate him? What I mean he's a good man manager, but not a good modern manager where you'll also have to be flexible with the squad, be smart in the transfer market, being the attacking side (MON was hopeless at that...that's why we had a better away record where we could play counter attack) etc.
  9. We may have 2 points better than last season without Young/Downing, but back then we had no pre season, a caretaker manager, a manager who was trying to change the whole system, a massive injury crisis and no capable goal scorer. Yet even at Houllier's lowest point (which was bad, 18th), we're still not far from points as we are now. It's the fact the 5 teams below are doing extremely bad this season we could be safe this season, not because McLeish is doing a good job at 'steading the ship'. Oh, and get this...McLeish is only 1 point ahead with the same amount of games played as last season when he was under SHA. So he's had better tools to work with and he is just doing as bad as last season with no carling cup run to show for it.
  10. We will never win the FA Cup under this manager so I'm not bothered if Bristol Rovers cause an upset. At least his position will become untenable at a faster rate. Out of both cup ties disgracefully and no hope of achieving anything season apart from looking over our shoulders. Then all it'll take is one slip up against Everton and he has lost the fans forever. There would be no way back for him and he'll be finished. Then it's up to the board if they want to kiss goodbye to the Sky money because it'll just go downhill from there.
  11. But it's just bizzare why not. He has been successful everywhere he's gone, he was successful at Villa, itt's not luck, he's a good manager. How can you not rate him? He has flaws like every manager but he gets results everywhere he goes. His record is there to look at? :? You don't understand why he doesn't rate MON? How about the fact he's left us with a terrible squad. I mean look at it. It's rotten to the core. The players he bought in were signed for massive wages (Randy is to blame for that as well) and were overpriced. Then later on they were sold for peanuts, if that. What about their horrible attitude as well. Thinking they're better than they are when in reality they would look out of place in a pub team. He's wasted alot of money basically. He's a good manager. Let's not kid ourselves. I would take him back right now over the current manager. But overall he hasn't adapted to the modern game so he's extremely limited. I would also like to know as well why you thought he was successful here. Top 6 back then wasn't anything to brag about. Moyes managed to finish above him twice with a shoestring budget comparison to the millions MON spent and wasn't far off when he did finish below him in the final season under here. Since his depature, the top 6 has gotten stronger when it's become the new top 4 back in the days. And finally, what on earth did he win? Nothing. He wasn't successful here and the fact you think that is actually painful to see. He failed to reach the Champions League or win any worthwhile silverware. Oh wow, he got 2 wembley trips that he lost in and Europa spots that he couldn't be arsed with after wasting millions of reaching there. Like I said, painful to see.
  12. Ok it's been over 6 months now. Does anyone understand why the board hired McLeish? He cannot steady the ship. He wasn't a cheap option. He's no good with the kids. His football is horrid. SHA connections (not a really big deal, but still) No good in the transfer market. Fans have been on his back from the start for good reason. 7th highest paid manager in the league. It's the biggest catastrophic appointment I've ever seen. It's not good for business at all. How can it be good for business. How?! I think the only valid explanation why he was hired was because of the letter from SAF. Makes me **** sick.
  13. I can't see Bent being happy with him at least. He could possibly destroy his trip to the Euros.
  14. As long he has his love letter from SAF, screw his multi million investment.
  15. 3 years won't happen. It cannot happen. I'll be livid if the attendence will be on par next season. I won't have any sympathy for the fans if they decide to renew after finding out what McLeish is about here.
  16. But he had an unbeaten run at the start. It was like the best thing ever. Surely he can't be doing that bad? Honestly, the amount of fans who keep bringing that up didn't have a clue. Drawing many games won't get you anywhere. That's why SHA got relegated under him.
  17. Nowt would be better to be honest. McLeish would just waste it and we'll be left with a dud who's on the wage bill.
  18. Of course they will. Like I said, MON is better than McLeish in every department. Make sure to sharpen those pitchforks.
  19. Basically Sunderland are the new Villa and we're the new Birmingham. Randy has made us this way. He should be forced out.
  20. Haha at least there's something to cheer about. The bin dippers are fuming over him. Thanks for the 20m suckers.
  21. Will someone get this **** clearing in the woods out of our club already. He's horrible. 25% win rate 5 home defeats out of 6 Goal less 8 times out of 20 Over 50% goals conceeded from set pieces Hardly any shots on target Poor possession Ugly hopeless football Hopeless at the transfer market I don't even think he would be good enough in the Championship now.
  22. MON being at a another club (esp in the same league) is the equalivent of your girlfriend hooking up with your mate. I don't want him here but don't want him anywhere else. But I would take him back over this rotten manager we have now. Never gonna happen again. Good times are well and truly over.
  23. Can we just hand Sunderland the 3 points now? I couldn't stomach him coming here and humliating this club. MON is better than McLeish in everyway. That's his bitch. There's no way AM will do anything right in that match. **** despise the prick.
  24. How the **** did MON get the Sunderland job anyway? If he was in the wrong at Villa he would have gotten a bad reference from Randy. But I doubt it. I bet it was the clueless yank who was the naughty boy. Kids below the age of 10 know the game more than him. If he's here for 10 years he'll bring us down to the conference. It's his decisions. They're like mentally retarted. The Browns must count themselves look there's no relegations or else they would be **** completely.
