  1. To be honest I think the whole "rape" thing is worth discussing in this thread because it seems the TV show got it badly wrong. The director has came out and said he didn't think it looked like a rape, which it clearly did, and GRRM has distanced himself from the scene on his blog. Cersei was up for a bit of slap and tickle in the books, it seems they tried to show that in the TV version too and they cocked it up (though I guess when you bring Jamie back to Kings Landing so much earlier it was always going to be difficult). It might be more confusing for people next week when Jamie and Cersei carry on as if nothing has happened... Was going to say this myself, the whole scene was uncomfortable and slightly disturbing, but for book readers it was also completely baffling. The problem with the scene is, like GRRM said himself, they took the dialogue from the book away, which leaves it at Cersei pushing away and generally looking like she's not willing, however she explicitly tells Jaime to continue in the book, a line which could have easily been added and lifted a lot of the uncomfortable-ness from the scene, obviously not all though, as the scene is still pretty **** up. It's also worth noting that in the book, this is Jamie and Cersei's reunion after Jamie gets back to King's Landing, hence the random having sex in front of your dead son. For me it kind of destroys all the character building of Jaime from the last few seasons too, he was starting to become a good character, you could begin to understand his motives and that under it all, he's actually an OK guy, but now it seems he's a rapist as well as everything else, I just don't know if I can like TV Jaime as much as I like Book Jaime. It was one of the few examples of the poorly implemented scenes by the show. They may nail most of the show on the head, but there's a couple scenes they've absolutely butchered for no real reason, other than to possibly come across as edgy, Drogo "raping" Dany from S1 being another example (as noted in the link CED provided up top)
  2. Not sure where you got your figures from but Lambert's is currently a tad over 26%. No it isn't. For this season it is 27%, last season it was 34.78%, overall it's at 31.32% as originally stated. How so? This season he has won 9 out of 34 and last season he won 10 out of 38. Maybe at your school these figures equated to 27% and 34.78% but not at mine. I'm using every competitive game, not just league, how every managers win% has ever been calculated.

  4. Because at the end of the day, he's still a Villa fan. He still wants the best for the club, he's still the president even. Also, he can massage his ego by saying to all the Villa fans "Look, I sold the club like you wanted, and as I left I hired MON, our most successful manager in recent years, and sold to Lerner, someone who pumped loads of money in when he came" Then, despite not being chairman anymore, he can still take credit for our success.
  5. I understand what you mean, and I agree to an extent, but it shows how frustrated he is currently. The reason he's arguing every decision is because things aren't going his way with the ball, and instead of lashing out at himself, he lashes out at the referee over every possible decision to get his frustrations out. If he ever manages to recapture his form, he'll stop arguing as much. He just needs to concentrate on his own game though to do that imo.
  6. Considering that we are consistently told that Randy knows nothing about football, then yes, I think that's exactly what happened. MON was Ellis' parting gift. And of course MON knew someone was taking over, but no-one has disputed that.
  7. What makes you think its unusual though or possibly Villa related? Just because its rare? Both of your questions are answered in the post you've quoted; Unusual: Canadian movements at BHX are rare. Villa Related: these two sentences suggest that thetrees thinks it's just coincidence.
  8. yeah get warrior in... or get a deal like the baggies, stoke etc where we pay adidas to make our kits, but at least the fans get the 3 stripes on their arm rather than the macron men... or give the shirt to whoever pays us the most, if macron are daft enough to give us £8m a year to make our shirts then so be it 8m in a year. £50 a shirt and it falls apart? Shirts are about the fans, bought by the fans. The club getting £8m a year is good but fans forking out £50 for a very badly made 'shirt' is wrong IMO. I've had all four kits, and none have fell apart. It's been said on here before, but you just need to wash them properly.
  9. Off topic but what is the scuba Steve stuff I must've missed that in off topic Go over to the Hall of Fame and read the Honeytrap thread, it'll be worth you time
  10. To be fair, in the book, it is a bit less rapey. A bit. Edit: Remembering back, it isn't seen from Cersei's POV, but Jaime's. The point still stands though, my reading of it was that it was consensual, just a bit twisted. It's one of the things that the show misses without the internal monologues, it's hard to really tell what's happening at times.
  11. Barnsley have now scored to give them a lifeline too As I say that, penalty for Derby... Saved! and Rebound missed! Come on Barnsley, put even more pressure on the bastards!
  12. 2 for all teams but Charlton and Blues (in their little Relegation table). Blues have: Leeds (H), Wigan (H) and Bolton (A) 3 very lose-able games, especially with their home form. Brighton now 1-0 up v Blackpool though
  13. Come on Charlton, one more now! Goal disallowed for Blackpool too.
  14. Yep Unfortunately, Charlton are currently losing, come on you Addicks!
  15. Charlton currently losing 2-1 too, looks like they won't slip into the bottom three today.
  16. Surely Curtis Davies is a contender? Ex-Player and ex-Bluenose, he's gotta be up there.
  17. Yes too much has been made of this. This type of leaking goes on all the time. Has done for years. This is the same argument Gary Neville put forward when he claimed kids should be taught to dive, and it's just as ludicrous. They've broken Premier League rules. Plain and simple, it's cheating. And just because everyone's cheating, doesn't mean it's OK. It's one of the things I hate about football nowadays, everyone just accepts cheating and does nothing about it. Look at Rugby. A couple years ago, eye gouging started to become a real problem, the IRB didn't like it and wanted to stamp it out. So what did they do? They started handing out heavy bans, about 17 in 3 years with one being for 70 weeks, for anyone caught doing it, and now it has virtually disappeared from the professional game. The last ban was in January for a 7s player, but before that? You'd have to go all the way back to 2011. As I say, virtually gone. This is why I'd like to see the FA throw the book at Palace. Not just because it might positively affect us somehow, but because the point of the governing bodies is to stamp out cheating of any kind and actual govern the sport. But what am I talking about here, this is football and the FA. Palace will probably be fined £10,000 or something, and then everyone will forget about it and go back to calling football "the beautiful game" despite the rampant cheating that is incessant in the game that everybody turns a blind eye to because "Everyone's doing it".
  18. Could be Washington Nationals owner, Ted Lerner...
  19. He should've had more opportunities, he was brilliant at 17 and shit at 21 He was mismanaged, he had so much potential, he was the best young striker in the country, I'll never forget how good he was in 08/09 he was never good in the first team though. And despite what you say, he had plenty of chances. His problem is he never took them. Was just about to say this. Despite how highly rated he was at youth level, he never did it at senior level. I don't think you can really blame it on being mismanaged as he had plenty of games to impress in, 50 to be exact. Whenever he played, he seemed to me to be 1 or 2 seconds behind the play. Whenever a ball was played behind the defence he seemed to take a couple of seconds to assess what was happening before he made his run, something he probably got away with at youth level but meant he hardly ever got on the end of those balls in the Premier League. Anyway, onto Robinson, seemed OK, I'd say start him next week, can't do any worse than Gabby's been doing, so may as well try. Plus he was awesome when I had him on loan at Rotherham in League 1 on Football Manager, so hopefully he can play well enough to become a real life favourite for me, as well as a virtual one I think he's the first player to play for Villa that is younger than me
  20. They are accused of breaking these 3 rules by Cardiff :- B.15. In all matters and transactions relating to the League each Club shall behave towards each other Club and the League with the utmost good faith. B.16. No Club either by itself, its servants or agents shall by any means whatsoever unfairly criticise, disparage, belittle or discredit any other Club or the League or in either case any of its directors, officers, employees or agents. B.17. A Club shall not without the Board’s prior written consent either during its membership of the League or at any time after its membership has terminated disclose or divulge either directly or indirectly to any Person whatsoever or otherwise make use of any confidential information as to the business or finances of the League or any other Club or any of their dealings, transactions or affairs or as to any other matters which may come to its knowledge by reason of its membership save to statutory and regulatory authorities or as may be required by law or to such Officials and Auditors of that Club to whom such disclosure is strictly necessary for the purpose of their duties and then only to the extent so necessary. I don't know what the punishment would be though, but I sure as bet that if Cardiff's complaint is upheld, we'll complain too, and I'd imagine every other club would want to know if it's happened against them as well. Depending how many teams they've done this to, assuming they have knowingly, they should be punished pretty harshly.
  21. Won their 5th game on the bounce today and they apparently had our team exactly right hours before kick off, possibly much sooner. Added in with the Cardiff stuff, something very fishy is going on down their IMO. Pulis may be doing a great job at the minute, but with the recent allegations, I do find myself wondering if their sudden upturn in form is anything to do with said allegations.
