I think we know where he is gonna end up in the summer. Absolutely gutted that he is going though. **** hate the squad at the minute. Decent people that are gonna be leaving, and we have clearings in the woods we still have contracted with us for 100 years.
  2. BOLLOX! Nah, only joking. Merry xmas fellow VTer
  3. We'll have to wait and see until after Jan. I'm gonna support McLeish for now.
  4. These all seem like excuses to me. McLeish somehow managed to get SHA 9th in 2010. No way should they have been relegated in 2011. They went down not because of their squad but because of their lack of desire and fight. We were often criticised as lacking fight under Houllier (which was true sometimes) and I foolishly believed McLeish would at least offer that. However, he hasn't. As far as motivation goes he seems to be worse than Houllier. Unfortunately we rarely ever attack teams either, and our defence is as useless as ever. So far in his Aston Villa career McLeish hasn't really got much right. As I said, he's got all of Houllier's negatives but none of his positives. Didnt something similar happen to Tottenham though? The only difference being, they didn't get relegated? I put that down to the quality that Spurs had to get them out of their rut. We have better players than SHA had last season and id say this is a fairly poor squad that we currently have compared to what we would/could have had 3 seasons ago. (just thinking about it now- Milner,Young,Downing,Barry - so,so nearly) The squad clearly needs improving as there are some very obvious weak links in the normal starting 11. McLeish changed that on Wednesday and we saw a fairly good display. If we get that team going for a few games we could get some results with maybe the addition of 1 or 2 players to help us out. I know it's not impressive he got SHA relegated - Twice... But again I put it down to the players he had. Here's to hoping he buys (or as he likes to say, 'trades') well.
  5. Indeed. But again, I think it was down to the quality of player that he had at his disposal. I think be brought a lot of crap. Could it have been down to the funds he had available? Did be have a lot of say in who came in even? This window coming up is an important one, because it will show whether or not he has what it takes to actually stengthen the team having had a few months to identify our weak areas. From then, will we know whether he is the right man or not. I'm expecting us to lose the next two games unfortunately. Iv prepared for that. Anything other than two defeats will be a nice surprise. I want McLeish to have January and February though.
  6. I dunno really - just a hunch. He seems a decent bloke I get the feeling that he WANTS to do well for us. He's frustrated at the moment because we are **** up simple things - I think the reason for the decline is the player quality rather than Mcleish. Obviously he picks the team etc but, ultimately, we don't really have a lot of choice? We'll see, but... Just a feeling in my waters.
  7. He's got a long way to go - but I have a weird feeling he will do it. I think we will have some more hurt on route though unfortunately.
  8. That's the thing - I think this as well, but when you run through the list and see the people that played today, I look at each individual and think, keep him and then before I know it the whole lot should stay! The ones that definitely should go are the ones that arnt frigging playing all the time- Beye Heskey Delfouneso Ireland (maybe) Marshall In addition - from the current core team I would only put Collins, Hutton and Delph (again, maybe?)
  9. Yeah that'd be great.....another 45 minutes without a goal. I actually lol'd. Haha!
  10. Indeed. He is in the wrong job unfortunately as he was never going to be accepted. Not properly anyway. Mantis - imagine in your place of work you failed to hit a target - a target which would mean that you and your team would receive a bonus in their next pay packet, and because of you not hitting your personal target, it means that they missed out on theirs. You walk into the office after they find out and they call you a **** dick (I'm not calling you that btw, that's just an example) and tell you to get out - how would you feel? Mcleish will have 30,000+ people doing that to him, because we have lost a few football matches, he really doesn't deserve it. Yes, he is paid a lot of money, but that's the world he managed to get involved with. Well done him. On the flip side, I would prefer we had a higher profile manager leading us. Mcleish's tactics are poor - but i'm happy to vent my frustrations on here. I will be disappointed if we lose a game I have attended, but I will never hold up a banner or hurl abuse at the manager or a player. The sad thing is, fan power will work, rather than the owners acting on their own accord. Keane was even booed this evening for walking out the tunnel for the 2nd half. That was a new level of manager hatred that was not nice to see. Poor bloke.
  11. Let's just wait and see what happens. We got top 10 to finish in - woohoo!
  12. I think it showed that fan power can work. you should have seen a few of them run right up to the barrier by the dugouts at the end of the game to hurl abuse at him. If that happened at villa - I don't think it would go down very well with the hierarchy! But, we must be in a mega mega shit position for that to happen at VP. Mcleish doesn't deserve anything near the abuse Keane got tonight. Let's not forgot though, all fans are fickle. If Keane strings 2 wins and a draw together in his next 3 games, they will be right back in it. same for us with Mcleish - if we go another 7 match unbeaten run again (which includes a win or two) then I will be damn happy! A funny game is football...
  13. Yup - was quite nasty. I'm pretty sure Blackburn fans themselves were singing 'your getting sacked in the morning'.... They just booed him coming out the tunnel as well...
  14. Wow - Blackburn fans reaction to them going 2-0 down was pretty savage. Wouldn't wanna be Kean right now!!
  15. Why would we swap someone who can finish with someone who can't (at this moment in time).
  16. Bollox - Bent is going nowhere this January.
  17. Says to me that Mcleish is definitely a fan of COD.
  18. Trent - what were the figures after 15 games? What's the betting that Bolton will draw their first game this season on Saturday? If we win, I think coyle will be gone and Hughes will take over. I don't think we will be relegated, but, could be close. I think Wigan, Blackburn and either Bolton or Wolves.
  19. Yes. Nah only joking - 3 wins in 14 is a joke, plus we lost to Bolton in the cup... Absolute disgrace...
  20. How are we more secure? Our defence is no better and we're creating less chances. Not only that but McLeish has proven himself to be tactically inept. I don't think we'll get relegated either but then again the only reason why it was so close last season was because everyone was beating each other. This season there are a lot of shit teams down the bottom. That last sentence is exactly the reason why we are more secure. There is no way we are as bad as Bolton, Wigan and Blackburn. Maybe even Sunderland as well. (for now). He is struggling at the moment to find the right balance in the team, fair enough, but let's see what he does after 1 season and how he can change things up. I recon we will sign Zarate which will please me ... We won't be going down this season, but we will play shit football along the way. It's just the way it's going to be unfortunately.
  21. Not sure where we are in comparison to last season at this time - but I feel a lot more secure, that's for sure. There is no way we will be relegated, and no way that we will be involved in the scrap either. We arnt winning as much as we would like, but we arnt losing either. 3 defeats in 13 isn't all that bad. Just wish we could attack a little better. I am accepting this as a transitional period, and want the team to develop and gel so that we can look slightly more convincing going forward. I'm not at the Mcleish out stage - nowhere near in fact - I want to see where he can get us to finish (8th) - that will be progress on last season and I look forward to Randy supporting the manager and giving him some funds next summer once we have cleared out the shit.
  22. Ironically Collins has been the better of him and Dunne - Hutton has been ok on the ball, but a liability off it, Warnock has done well again. Bent - Shite N'Zogbia - Not Awful Herd - Not bad Delph - apparently can't control a ball Heskey - absolutely awful Gabby - best player again, but shouldn't be out wide! So, overall, an average shite performance again- least we are consistent that's the main thing. Keep it up Mcleish, thanks.
  23. There is no chance of Mcleish being sacked though. If people want him gone the only way that can happen will be for hardly any fans to turn up to home games and completely boycott the away games too. I don't know how I feel yet, I'm not at the 'Mcleish out stage'. That's probably because I know for a fact that that there are 4 teams far frigging worse than us. But, for What happened Monday - we can't have another performance like that - that really was a load of shit. I actually wanted the time I spent watching it back! God knows what those who actually went to the game felt...
