  1. Yeah its about the stability of the club but when the owner is Mega-rich, until UEFA FFP rules come into play next season (which wont affect things until 13/14 season) then if the owner is extremely rich, then so is the club. So for now, if the owner makes £3.8m and gives it to the club, its the clubs money. For instance Man U are financially **** and the Glazers somehow using the clubs own revenue to pay for their aquisition of the club. Man U and Chelsea also can't afford themselves but because of their owners they are financially 'stable'. Where as Carson had to take out a £12m loan just to get through the season and there are serious doubts about the health of the club because Carson may not be able to support them financially. Even though the clubs revenue may not be big, the fact they are now wrth £60m (compared to £45m 4 years ago) shows pretty big growth and could be considered to show they will be financially stable. This still would have stood had they sold the entire £16m worth of shares they wanted to sell. But by only selling 3.8m then it looks bad from a business side of view. Short version 'Well we tried to sell 24% of our business in a massive market that big investors literally jump at the chance to get into but turns out we can't actually attract any of these investors' is a pretty shit thing to effectively say. Saying 'we increased our value by 33% in 4 years' is pretty awesome. Depends which way UEFA look at it. It's the fact they are still £23m in debt, which at their current rate could take another 4 years to get rid of, which is clearly not good enough. Disclaimer: I am not Alan Sugar and could well be wrong about everything I just said, but I think its right!
  2. I was just really looking forward to a new era, new location and new assassin, 4th game with these three characters and its a bit of a let down. I only bought Assassin's 2 just before Brotherhood came out so i was up to speed, so its been too quick for me. Its not a game like Fifa or Cod [which i couldnt buy this year because i got so bored!] that I could buy every single year. They should take a leaf out of rockstars books and make it a MASSIVE release every few years but i'd settle for every 2 years. I quite liked Assassins 1 but was very repetetive. 2 was amazing a very good game. Brotherhood came round a bit too quick for me as i'd only just bought #2 and it felt like i was playing an expansion pack - but the ending of the story made it worth it for the cliffhanger alone. Liked the guild sections aswell.
  3. i am excited! I just dont want to expect a new Cristiano Ronaldo! Like with Fonz and us expecting the new Henry
  4. Oh I wasn't moaning about him at all! He seems to be very good for his age, but there is a habit on these boards of wildly exaggerating a young players abilities. Im not saying I doubt he is good, as that is the opposite of what I think, it's just youth players on these boards are very much exaggerated at times. For instance [sorry i forget how old Jack is] 14/15 yr olds can develop at very different speeds, he seems very promising getting called up to the under 18's. But me saying he shouldnt feature until 2013 is still only 3 seasons away. Jack Wilshere didn;t get his big break until 18 really, suggesting (like some have) that he will soon be in the first team is a bit of an exaggeration (not a slant on Jack) its just that many players dont get their big break that young, whether he will be great or not it very rarely happens. From the [very small time] ive seen him, he's looked impressive, i was simply saying that some people may exaggerate their beliefs because they want to believe we have a world class star in the making. The 'i doubt it' bit was simply in reference to some of the times this board has proclaimed a player to be future world class and then they end up playing in the Cheltenham reserve team.
  5. I'm sure the kids dont see messages on these boards to be honest but I would feel sorry for the younger lads that get slated. One thing they need to remember is that the ones that stand out now may not be the ones that stand out in a few years time. It would be a shame if the likes of Drennan were put off by reading stupid posts on a board (for instance if Grealish hears something good about him on here through Kevan and is happy about it, the other players may want to see what is thought of them!). As good as say Grealish is now or Gardner is now, if they work hard enough theres no reason why Caira, Jenkins and Drennan cant make it. Bannan wasn't well thought of on here before he broke through either - some still dont rate him but I think the majority can see he has a place in the squad - would hate to think if Bannan was put off at an impressionable age (aka 14). He may not be a world class player but he's good enough. Same goes for Gabby, was nearly dropped from the squad and only kept for his pace and he worked out well the last couple of seasons. edit: Barcelona take on 300 kids into La Masia and Ajax take on 160 into DeToekomst. Rafael Van Der Vaart was found at a Ajax youth competition [think Britains Got Talent, just one big football competition i guess] with 1000 kids. How many of them do you think shine at 14? How many of them make it? Not alot. So moaning about the few players we do take on is counter productive, quite simply the more okay/decent/passable players we take on at 7-14 the more likely we are to pick out a world class player.
  6. If he's as good as everybody's making out [which I doubt] I'd start introducing him for half hour in early cup games in the 2013/14 season
  7. They're both to young to sign contracts yet. One isn't 17 for another year and the other is only 14 (I forget which is which). So the 16/15 yr old can be poached next year and then 3 yrs time for the other one
  8. Just announced as the new Assassins Creed game. 1/3 Ezio 1/3 Altair and 1/3 Desmond. Terribly dissappointed that its not a new assassin after having 2 Ezio games already.
  9. Interesting! Whats he normally like for being ITK?
  10. Hope he means for the club and not for Gabby.
  11. Seems a bit weird that people who claim to be our ITK's are sure Moyes is nailed on to be our manager but there aren't any mutterings from Everton fans [that i know of]. Would have thought things like that would originate from their side.
  12. Lets be honest they could have had a red kit with Carlsberg as the sponsor and Everton fans would like it better than that pink monstrosity.
  13. Was about to post about their little windfall. Tried to make £16m ended up only managing to whore out 1/4 of the shares they wanted to. Atleast they just earnt the money they are surely regretting spending on Curtis? edit: I guess its bitter sweet for SHA, they had £28m loss to make up and show UEFA they are in good financial position. But only made £3.8m so that sucks. But [correct me if im wrong]. Yeung bought 30% of SHA for £15m [100%=£45m] and now they are selling just 6% for £3.8m [100%=£60m]. So effectively increased their worth by 33% in 4 years. Saying that they are still in debt to the tune of 38% of their entire value. [again, i could be wrong, im tired]
  14. The kids made 40ish appearances and hasn't been able to tie down a spot in the squad. However, thinking back on it after the game vs Blues we were all calling for him to be given a run in the squad as he had a good game when he played those few minutes. I think it was pretty unanimous that we thought he should get a run in the side (this was before we truly realised how much shit we were in i think?). Then we signed Bent and had to battle out of the mire. I wouldnt be surprised if we gave him a good long run at the start of next season.
  15. wasnt that discussed for Makoun or Downing? until everybody apparently decided neither requires a song?
  16. Woah. Plenty of Fish works? I thought you had to pay for parts of it too? FWIW, I can see why people would use these sites and it is pretty interesting but I'm not sure I could ever seriously use one and i definitely wouldnt go about paying for one.
  17. Knowing our luck Emmitt will be the world class one out of the two Fonz's
  18. Dont think we really know yet, he has potential but seems unable to fulfill it. Obviously won't be worldclass like some of the more *ahem* optimistic of us had hoped but could still make it in the prem if he pulls his finger out.
