NRC would be a really good addition and a step up from McCann. He is the sort of quality we can expect this summer. Some names being mentioned here are a bit pie in the sky. Even Chelsea had to start somewhere. They didn't sign huge names to start with other than maybe Crespo.

I agree kkr decent, average players. You would be ok with a few "nasty" players coming in then, without it affecting you support at all?

Think it's a really interesting question to be honest

How about Kakha Kaladze? Big left sided defender...can play left back or left central defence. Apparently wants out of AC Milan due to not playing. Would be a great partner for Laursen

can we please stop arguing about people in no way linked to the villa, its completely futile, if that carries on move it to off topic because it is in no way related to the villa at the minute

Sissoko falls under that and we're discussing him.

Well it depends on nasty... I wouldn't want to watch a Ben Thatcher kicking lumps out of people down at VP but then again...

anyone catch some of "When Sports Stars see Red"on Sky1 last night...showed the punch up at Toon when Barry dragged Bowyer off Dyer... and Roy Keane seeing red mist once again! Its an unfortunate part of some sportsman's makeup... they had a Sports psychologist talking about Rooney and his aggression and what a shame he hasn't worked with someone to channel all that talent and fire into positive emotion on the pitch. MON has studied forensic psychology, he's no fool and so far he's been great at managing players and their personalities and getting the best out of them.

This thread is so pathetic. I agree with Daz that it is futile arguing about people that aren't linked to Villa in any way and it is also petty the way some of you bitch with each other over player, whilst trying to score points against each other. Its pretty childish

Well you say nasty players and you are obviously referring to Bellamy, NRC and Barton.

Bellamy has an attitude that's for sure, but it is something we have lacked in this team and if anyone can control him it is MON who did so at Celtic after the fiasco at Newcastle.

Dont get this NRC ego nonsense. The guy has been made a scapegoat by west ham and their fans and still he gave 100% and helped keep them up, he would be fantastic in our midfield working under MON and combining with our growing wealth of young Brittish talent.

Barton does seem to be a word removed and a bit of a nutter really, but for 5mil his ability is worth that risk and im sure if we acquired him, MON and staff would let him know he is on a short leash.

but oh no "he's not good enough!!" , he's won the uefa cup, La liga and the Fa cup!!, all without being able to pass?!!!, yeah right!!

Djimi Traore won the champions league and FA Cup without having any ability at all, it proves nothing.

David May won the treble, Shearer's won 1 league title....does that mean May was the better player?

You judge players on ability, not what they've won.

Obviously you like to judge them not only on what they've won......but what they've haven't won too, like Sissoko winning them the champions league. :crylaugh:

Arguing with you is like drowning a puppy....too easy and a bit cruel!

Yes and Traore was 22 when he won the champs league was he? , Momo won the title in spain when he was around 19 years old, so again your argument is floored, you seem to completely miss the point i was making, that crap players don't win as much as he does and play for not one but TWO decent sides without having all round ability, blimey your idle drivel is in over drive today!!, stop crying and move on.

So Garcia won the ball every time and took on the whole team. Remember the words of one of the greatest players Zinedine Zidane "Players like Deschamps and Makelele are the water carriers of team" I'll explain what that means if you don't understand, every team needs a player who can get the ball back, You dn't want Kaka, Ronaldinho tackling players you want them to get the ball and hurt the opposition, At Milan that ball winner is Gattuso, Barca its Xavi and who do we have McCann.

Julie, think your right, I'm not too worried about who we are linked to because I trust MON, if he signs someone, he is sure he can get the best out of them and I know he doesnt stand for any messing around at all.

So from that point of view it doesn't worry me, but at the same time I have always seen Villa as the friendly underdog team, all good people playing honest football, maybe that needs to change just a litte in order for us to progress.

It would take a while to see bellamys slimy face in a villa kit though I do have to say!!

This was my point. All the top teams have a player who specialises as a defensive midfielder and if we want to compete against the top 4 and in europe we too will need one for this job.

Therefore i would be surprised if we didn't sign someone, like Sissoko, who is a DM and utilised just in that way. Perhaps MON sees Reo-Coker as our Makelele and replacement for McCann?

How is his age relevant? I'm making the point that you don't have to be talented to win medals.

He's a Benitez favourite. I think Everton was about his level until Benitez came in, no other top club would have touched him.

You don't know what you're talking about. You've proven this with your comments about him winning them the champions league/Super cup, with your comment about him striking the ball clean....despite him never scoring a professional goal at club level...and with your comments that medals somehow prove whether a player is good or not. You also seem to think he's a great passer, which is ludricous.

Yeah that is interesting although there seems to be a few statements in papers at the minute, they don't neccessarilly happen though.

I would be pretty happy with NRC though, not sure about the ego reports but he is an athletic player who can only give us more and more stength in depth.

Had a chat with my dad today, he can't understand why we want so many midfielders, but that is exactly what we need, strength in depth. Becasue he has seen people like gardner and osbourne come on in leaps and bounds, he doesn't think we need anything esle, but a few years ago when similar players were struggling he was saying we needed strength.

So, despite the youngsters playing well, the more talent we sign can only hold us in good stead for next season, especially during november and december when the going gets tough

it is interesting that the Mail are sayin gwe WILL sign Reo-Coker.

I think we are the front runners and have believed as much ever since the report a few months back that said we would do all we could to acquire him in the summer.

Garcia did the damage. Obviously he needed players around him, but surely that's obvious??

Oh and I think you'll find the 'water carrier' comment came from Cantona and it was used in a derogatory manner about Deschamps.

Next time you try to be patronising, at least try and get your facts straight.
