I don't know anything about this Maloney kid...but i would go for Diop...given the time left in the transfer market...etc. But u never know...we might all be in for a surprise....at least nowadays we can feel more comfortable and less panicky when there is "silence".....maybe the calm b4 the storm...lol

I can't see MON droping McCann at all. But I can see him droping Barry on the left back and get another holding midfielder in with McCann and let the boys rule the wings + Petrov as a free player right behind the Hulk.

Now I know it's a bit petty but I dont like that shape as much as 1 holding player and then the other two linking with the wide players and breaking forward. I think O'Neill likes it too as in that formation both Barry and Petrov seemed to be encouraged to get forward and support.

I dont really get the Maloney fascination. We have Gabby and Young for the wide players in a 4-3-3 with Luke too. We have Luke and Gabby in a 4-4-2 alongside Carew (Angel and Suton his cover).

Grant I am told that he really is quite special

I understand that Luke and Gabby have played in the wide positions, but by common consent it has been them playing out of position.

Maloney is a specialist wide left attacker I believe.

I also understand the issue around players from the sweaty league.

Has the Diop rejecting Wigan been confirmed on SSN or anything?

A rumour in a paper doesn't count.

Could be a good signing in midfield if kept fit, want us to go after Reo-Coke though, young, current ability and potential.

Would cost but worth it imo.

Fair enough Richard but if he is that special, with only 6 months left to run on his contract, just why arent a host of big clubs in for him or being linked?

Not asking you so much as just voicing my own doubts. At that prices it would perhaps be worth it, for depth if nothing else, but I just feel there are other options that I know would work. I cant really see what Maloney offers that we dont already have in Young and Gabby especially.

Is Maloney that good that he'd be displacing these players because he certainly isnt a goal'scorer.

He got 16 goals and 20+ assists last season. And it's all well and good saying "well, it was only in Scotland", but at half a million it's hardly a big risk

The 20+ assists is more impressive tbh.

The goals...well is it is only Scotland. :D

Agree it isnt a big risak at half a million....though it'd probably be more to land him now, but same principle up to a couple of million anyway.

4.5 mill for an injury prone player that has problems with his weight is far to much. Barton may be swayed if he is looking at the ambitions of AVFC. No offence to Man City supporters but he will not see this type of ambition at Man City for a long time cause they are in shit loads of debt.

Papa Bouba Diop would appear to be close to finalising an exit from Fulham and his agent has revealed the midfielder is desperate to get his career back on track.

The Senegal star has been a key figure for Fulham in recent seasons, but he has slipped down the pecking after picking up a couple of injuries.

Wigan have had a bid accepted for the midfield powerhouse and Bouba Diop is currently mulling over his options.

A number of other clubs are considering tabling offers for the 28-year-old and Craig Hutchinson says the midfielder is desperate to return to regular action.

"He's fit and he's ready to play," Hutchinson told skysports.com. "He's not fully fit in terms of match fitness, but he is about two weeks away and ready to start."

Diop's injury problems have been a cause of concern for Fulham this term, but Hutchinson says his client will have no problems negotiating a medical.

"A medical will not be a concern," added Hutchinson. "As I have said, he is two weeks away from match fitness and he cannot wait to get started.

"He just wants to be playing first-team football again and that has been hard at Fulham and the time is probably right for him to move on."
