Popular Post BOF Posted May 29, 2018 Author Moderator Popular Post Share Posted May 29, 2018 There was one historic talking point about this season's list of goalscorers. Never in our history have we had 11 players open their goalscoring accounts for us in the same season. Even with the advent of the Premier League and the massive player turnover that resulted, we only had 10 new goalscorers in 91/92. Returning from World War 1 resulted in 9 new goalscorers that season. But this season we saw firsts from Green, Bjarnason, Onomah, Davis, Snodgrass, Terry, Samba, Lansbury, Jedinak, Grabban & Whelan. Unused Sub
Nice Stats BOF. I see you've added Jedinak's play-off goal to the tally. I too keep a record, but have chosen to not count the play-off games. Each to their own, unless the play-offs count as official games. Do they count as official games? Anyway, another stat for the 2017-18 season is that we've had 18 different scorers throughout the league & cup games, which is a record number (previous best was 17 in 2011-12). So is using 38 different players throughout the season (basically through playing the kids the league cup).

Anyway, I have broken down the league scorers into the number of goals scored against each club (list of clubs at the top and players names going down the side). However after converting it to a jpeg file its 2347x10247 pixels and is huge! So if it of any use to you, just shout and I'll fire it across somehow (just remember I'm not overly good with computers!)
BOF Posted May 29, 2018 Author Moderator Share Posted May 29, 2018 Holy moly. I don't need it myself thanks, but I'd say it would be of interest so we could link to it from here and maybe host it online somewhere?

Popular Post BOF Posted May 29, 2019 Author Moderator Popular Post Share Posted May 29, 2019 OP Stats updated for the end of the 18/19 season. Significant movers and shakers this season include ... Well we have to start with Tammy Abraham. His 26 goals in his only season mean he goes second all-time in 'goals per season'. Only Harold Halse on 28 is higher. Halse also got his goals in one season back in 1912/13. Those 26 goals are also enough to put Abraham 93rd all time for Villa. Just 3 goals behind our squad's current top scorer, Jonathan Kodjia, who himself managed to add 9 goals in what was a very stop-start season for him. He still managed to be our joint 2nd top scorer along with Hourihane. Conor's 9 goals puts him on 21 overall, just one behind Adomah who added 4 this season. McGinn finishes on 7 with Jack & Anwar getting 6 apiece. The season itself gave us 87 goals in total, making it our most prolific season this century and 24th all time. The most recent season to do better than 87 goals was all the way back in 1976/77 when we scored 105 goals. We had 8 new goalscorers this season. That ranks 5th highest all-time. Last season's 11 is the highest ever. This season's new entries were (in order of scoring) : Elphick, Elmohamady, El Ghazi, Abraham, Bolasie, McGinn, Mings & Hause. 6
8pints
We also became the team to score the most goals registered as 'other' in one season with 3 - B*llocks Belly Back Abraham against Forrest Hause against Forrest El Ghazi against Derby
Villadevon
I'm guessing only his mom would call Willie Anderson 'William' Great work.
Xela
Great work @BOF Just a quick one though - I always thought Platt scored 68 for us - going 5, 15, 24 and 24 in his 3.5 years. Did he have goals chalked off or do we perhaps not count Zenith Data Systems/Simod Cup goals? Just curious.
