  1. I know what he means, the background art is really good but the actual character is very pixely and they stick out like a sore thumb, which is probably a good thing in ways. It was the same on the playstation but back then it was 1997 and graphics in games weren't what they are now remember. If graphics are important to you then it may well taint the experience, also if you're playing on a HDTV the graphics will be worse than how they were back in the day since it's a standard definition game. If you want better graphics then by all means go for FFXIII, the graphics are stunning, just the core gameplay isn't as good in my opinion. It also doesn't 'feel' like a Final Fantasy game, but maybe that's just me being a tad fanboyish.
  2. I'm coming in here. The Alex Mcleish Thread specifically has turned into a farce, I'm bored of getting wound up over things posted on the internet.
  3. Not sure I'd recommend that for two reasons: 1) The new Final Fantasy games are vastly different to the older ones, and 2) FFXIII-2 is a continuation from FFXIII, although I've heard it can be treated as a stand-alone story I suppose. Either way, it's your choice though. Buying a PS3 is the expensive option but then you can buy and download the older Final Fantasy games which are like 3 quid each now I think if the sale is still on. Unless there's an emulator out there on the PC that I don't know about. You'd be hard pressed to find a cheap copy of the original playstation game and you'd only be buying it second-hand I should think. The same goes for the playstation or playstation 2 console, they'd be second-hand. If you're a big gamer, buying a PS3 would be my advice, because there's a lot of other great games that are only out on it and not on the Xbox 360. Things like Metal Gear Solid 4, The Uncharted series of games (which are fantastic by the way), Demon's Souls (although the spiritual successor Dark Souls is also out on the Xbox 360 as well as the PS3) and plenty more games I'm sure I'm forgetting. Also, the PS3 plays Blu-Rays and has free online play. Another alternative could be the Nintendo DS or 3DS, there's a few Final Fantasy games on that platform. It would certainly be cheaper but you wouldn't be able to specifically play FFVII on it.
  4. Good analytical skills there, are you a games reviewer by any chance?
  5. I can't speak for the other poster, but I was simply defending against certain poster's derogatory comments against people who care about what the kit looks like and what they wear in general. It was more of a general comment from me. I'll admit I wasn't thrilled about the news that Macron would be our new kit supplier but I'm not assuming anything, I'll make my judgements when I see the shirt. Macron might make us some good kits for all we know. If it's a nice kit, I couldn't care less if it has the Nike tick or Macron on the label. I'd love them to keep it simple, that's my personal preference, but this year's home kit with the checks put me off. Most of what Nike gave us was perfectly nice though. Let's just see what Macron come up with and then judge.
  6. When did wearing a football shirt ever become a fashion statement ? It hasn't, all we were saying is that some people care about what the kit looks like and will only buy it if they like the look of it so the design is important somewhat.
  7. Yeah I heard Snake Eater was one of the best so I'm really looking forward to playing it. I never realised The Twin Snakes was a remake, I didn't really look into it though. Raiden is a bit of a whiny bitch but I still loved the game, and at least Snake was in it on the Tanker and later as Pliskin. Kind of Off Topic, what does everyone think of Revengeance? Aside from the kind of dumb name.
  8. Awful. Hated it. Couldn't bring myself to go more than about 10 hours in. Oh that sucks, I hadn't really heard anything negative about it until you said that. Is there anything specific that you didn't like about it?
  9. I got this the other day and haven't played it yet but I can't wait to play MGS 2 again. I don't know if this was a popular opinion but loads of the fanboys near me used to complain about it constantly, probably because for the majority you were playing as Raiden and not Snake but so what? I really love that game, and I agree, in retrospect it was ahead of it's time. I didn't ever get to play Snake Eater or Peace Walker either so for £30 it was a bargain for me. I wonder if they'll ever do a complete remake of Metal Gear Solid.
  10. YAWN!!!!! you read what you want to see. I was trying to point out how petty some people can be over branded mass prouced poor quality tat. peer pressures a bitch. So some people care about the clothes they wear, so what? Referring specifically to Villa however, people care about the quality of the shirts and the style because not only do some people like to wear nice things but also it represents our club week in week out on the pitch. There's no need to get so holier than thou about it, if you don't care about the clothes you wear then that's your prerogative, but there's no need to come here and look down your noses at people. Like someone said earlier, if you don't even care about this stuff then why even post your opinion if it's just going to be a judgement on others?
  11. I've not played any prior to 7 but 7, 9 and 10 are my absolute favourites. I didn't really get into 8 so much. I thought 10 as fantastic though, Blitzball was an awesome little mini-game. I heard 12 was really good too but my ps2 was broke and I was at uni when that came out so I didn't ever get it. Anyone played 12? Is it any good? 13 tried too hard in the story and not quite enough in the fights, although the battles did get better as the game went on. Switching between Paradigms was good and tactical but it did get a bit boring. I think FFX had the best battle system for me. Some people argue that having a time limit creates more tension and atmosphere and I can totally see that but FFX was more like a game of chess for me. You could see the order of who was attacking when and plan accordingly.
  12. Or you could just wait and see what Macron come up with and then judge?
  13. I suppose the Macron Man isn't as bad as the back to back Kappa women. I wouldn't like to go out and about looking like a claret and blue trucker's mudflap.
  14. Is the Macron Man on the Leeds kits that were posted a little while ago? They don't look like they are from those shots. Maybe because we're a big fish with Macron now we can politely decline to have the man on our kits.
  15. ...right :? But wait a minute... Nike sounds like Pike. Did you have a problem with Nike for the same reason? Adibass?
  16. He definitely didn't get the tactics right today and he made ridiculous substitutions. Our players looked so slow, Newcastle wanted it more. I've defended Mcleish against some of the things people have said about him, but today there were no excuses I'm afraid. If he seriously sets the team up and tells them to play hoofball, he has to go, because it doesn't work and it hasn't worked for us for years now but for some reason the people who make these decisions are the only ones who can't see this. If on the other hand he tells the players to play it along the ground and not to hoof it, then the players are more to blame but Mcleish still has to take some blame as to why the players don't listen to him and play his way. It's so frustrating seeing us play this way, we need a big change.
  17. Yep you're right. It's a dumb argument and there's no point arguing with some people anyway.
  18. Hm, I thought it was really good and wasn't too girlie. It is really good and it's not that girly, although it's predominately about falling in love. It was the girliest film in my collection though. I know what you mean though, it's not really a chick-flick in the strongest sense.
  19. Ok, fair points, but Warnock has actually played well in some parts, the game against Arsenal recently being one such occasion. Have you ever seen Stevens play? That's a legitimate question by the way. I personally haven't and I don't think many villa fans have so for most of us it'd be the equivalent of choosing between Warnock, an experienced Premier League defender who has made the England national team, or Stevens, an unknown quantity but one that we know has no experience playing against the quality of opposition we're going to be playing. And make no mistake, Newcastle are a very good team and they play some great football. It just seems to me that some people would rather play anyone than Warnock right now and it doesn't matter who it was or their level of experience. It would seem to be an incredibly risky move by Mcleish if he did give him his debut. The man is already under fire and he will be quite aware that most of the villa faithful are not behind him. I know that you're not a Mcleish fan Mantis, so a serious question for you now. You're for playing Stevens over Warnock, but if Mcleish chose to do this and it completely backfired, would you stick up for him considering you would do the same? I think most people who are anti-Mcleish would use it as a stick to beat him with if I'm honest.
  20. Fair enough, but it's all rumour still, there's no proof he said anything like that so it's just speculation. If he didn't really want to be here, wouldn't he have refused to play or have handed in a transfer request in January? I just think we should forget about that as it can't be proven either way, but that's just my opinion. . Ok, firstly, Warnock wasn't criticised by his boss, well perhaps he was, but we're talking about having abuse hurled at you from thousands of people who are supposed to be your supporters after you just made an accidental mistake. Secondly, as far as I know, he didn't "go crying" to anyone, in fact he kept playing and tried to put in a performance and from what I remember he actually played some good football in some of our attacks to get us back on level terms. I think that shows some bravery if I'm honest. He could have gone in at halftime and asked Mcleish to sub him. Maybe he did, but either way he still came out in the second half and contributed. I don't think anyone here has called Warnock or any footballer a hero. Also, it's very easy to say that if you were on that sort of money that you would be fine with people abusing you verbally, but I don't think anyone would be able to let that sort of thing wash over them without being affected. Again you finish off your post using the word criticised. He wasn't being criticised, he was being straight out abused and booed. They are not the same thing.
  21. Would be ecstatic if he did. Would love to see him push Warnock out of the team. Even though Stevens is unproven, only been at the club a few weeks and has only played against players in the League of Ireland? Add to that the sheer pressure of the occasion, making your debut away from home and he no doubt will have been witness to the boos from villa fans at the games he's been at. I'm not saying I'm a Warnock fan by any stretch, but I think people are thinking that anyone playing at LB instead of Warnock would be an improvement, and that's not necessarily true. I'd be ecstatic if the lad turned out to be a great player of course, but isn't it a bit soon?
  22. Right, but you were trying to relate it to Macron and Villa by saying that the brand and kit are important and can affect potential transfers. You then went on to quote another story from Le Tissier explaining about why his move to Spurs never happened and you ended up disproving yourself. As for the thing on Skysports, I didn't see it and I'd be surprised if anyone has a copy of it or a transcript, but I think we can safely assume it was a joke, because not even Le Tissier is that stupid that he would turn down a move for fashion-related reasons. Either way, I think you missed the point.
  23. That's the biggest load of tosh I've ever seen. Here's a quote from the man himself: http://www.orange.co.uk/sport/football/22711.htm Anyway, I'm not particularly thrilled about Macron but it's happening so let's just wait and see what they do and base whether we'll buy their products when we've seen them yes? As for the big sponsorships who will only want to be associated with us if we have Nike printed on the shirt, well so far (excluding acorns of course) we've had 32Red, FxPro and now Genting, none of which I had ever heard of, and we'll continue to use Genting as far as I'm aware so that's really not a problem at the moment.
  24. He played a great pass in both of the goals. The part he played in the second goal is obvious, but the first goal was so fluid. He just passed a quick one-touch pass which was then passed out wide to Hutton who put a good low cross in for Bent. It was great to watch.
