  1. Walker on debut & against his former club? Surely a guarenteed goal for the lad, hope he starts
  2. Can't believe they didn't show Gyan's miss on MOTD. The time he had to either square it or take it round/slide it past Freidel makes it worse than Heskey's miss for me. Anybody want this **** badge shit?
  3. It's got to be bad when the player who missed a sitter and got sent off was the MOTM by a country mile. We had nothing with him off. Disgusted with the amount we gave the ball away, and seemingly refused to run at Sunderland. Sunderland were awful, so to lose we must be beyond awful. The subs were way too late...Houlier got a lot of stick on his way out, the players looked furious, especially Nige. Friedal just looked distraught, as did Ash Ha yeh I'm sure Houlier would call them sweepers and Randy quarterbacks though...
  4. Anyway anyone looking at train travel don't get ripped off, there are currently returns avaialble for £11.50 e/w however this requires selected trains (as opposed to the on the day fare of £37.80) If you are prepared not to have booked seats though split your tickets into a day return New St - Derby (£13.70) and day return Derby - Sheff (£8.80), totalling £22.50. Also to add you won't need to change trains doing this either! What times were these tickets for man? Cheapest I can find is £25.50 (in total), and thats arriving in Sheffield from New Street at 14:17 and leaving at 17:27 (via derby) I've got a railcard so can get that for £17.50, but the other 3 I'm going with don't have one. Unfortunately my supporters club have had to cancel the coach due to lack of interest - it wouldve been £5! Although there is the Leamington one (via Cov) which is £15... Might end up driving up I reckon :?
  5. Wow, that many? I thought they'd be snapped up by now...hope they are aswell!
  6. The chairman of my local Supporter's Club has reserved my 4 tickets, hoorah! We're picked them up weds night at the Sunderland match. Still no idea if they're available or not, can't buy them on the site although I fill the current criteria, and havent bothered with the ticket office on the phone
  7. Just rubbish ones...? I've got a pretty good one, although it could be viewed as rubbish, as it came about as a result of rubbish-ness. Judge for yourself; When I played U9's on a sunday I played for a really awful team. We lost every game in our first season, and didn't score a single goal. We were scouted by the BBC to potentially appear in a competition. Turned out we were shit enough, and got picked. We were on a show called 'Whatever You Want' on BBC1 on a saturday night, prime time actually! With 2 other really awful U9 teams (our record was the worst though!) and we were to have a penalty shootout were the winning team won a prize. They didn't tell us what the prize was. Peter Shilton was in goal. And they were those tiny 5-a-side goals, so we had our work cut out, although he mustve been about 90 then, as I think he's at least 105 now Gary Mabbut would place a ball, a player would take a pen, and as soon as the next ball was down next player took the next pen. Most goals in 30 seconds won! First team scored 5, next team scored 7. We were up last and scored....7. So another round a pens was required. The other team again went first and scored 5. We scored 6 and won! It was glorious, such scenes. Then there was the reveal of the prize... We were to travel to Barcelona, and spend 5 days there (turned out to be full board and a pretty spiffy hotel, but being kids we didnt give a shit, naturally). Whilst there, bearing in mind this is 1996, we would see Bobby Robson's Barcelona play a game at Camp Nou! Wonderful! I need not remind most of you I'm sure, but that side contained players such as Ronaldo, Figo, Stoichkov, Popescu, Blanc, Luis Enrique. Great side. They won 4-0 against Seville. BUT. The main event of the trip was a training session with the man himself, our Bobby. It was a great thing being so young cos we were just like yeh OK let's get on with it, being star struck or in awe of him or anything like that didn't come into it. We also watched the senior side at a training session and got to meet them and get signatures after - not Ronaldo though, he was ushered away via another exit. Keeping in the spirit of the thread though, with a truly rubbish claim to fame; Richard Bacon ran down my street with The Big Breakfast one morning I used to watch it everyday before school, and when my mum shouted up the stair and said 'Richard Bacon's down our street!' I don't think I had ever got up and ready so quickly. I met up with my mates just down my road as we usually did, but instead of going to school hung around and ended up on TV when they did the competition thing. The mayoress of our town turned up too, and said we had her permission to be late for school, which naturally was excellent. We when we got to school 45 minutes late, and we told out teacher we had the Mayoress' permission, she didn't believe us...can't imagine why not
  8. Good result, I think the best most of couldve hoped for before the match was a point, we've put in a good performance and shown alot of heart today. Let's hope we carry it into the Sunderland game!
  9. Villa-Ultra if you're in Coventry with family that would be a really weird coincidence...? As chappy says, ring the ticket office ASAP, the online ticketing site is not known for it's reliability... Would love to say that's helpful but...ticket office is closed till 11am on monday :winkold: I got in contact with my local Lions Club chairman, he can't check till monday either but is going to see if he can get any from the Supporters Club's allocation Still no news on the OS if they are all gone or not though! Although I suppose we have to afford the office dolly's some time off...
  10. Are they sold out? The site isn't clear at all... My cousin has just let me know that his wife's family are over from Oz, they're Villa fans and would love to go, I can select an area in the ticket section on the site, but not a quantity, and therefore can't order any. I'm guessing they're all gone?
  11. Enter the Void. Best film of the last decade, let alone 2010, no other film comes close to the experience it delivers to the viewer.
  12. Yeh Frontiers is a pretty good shout, although it is the French Chainsaw Massacre, and is therefore very predictable if you have seen Texas. And just in case you havent seen it; Alien? One of my all time favourites, and I can't think of any better survival horror film at the moment
  13. Oh Battle Royale **** yes, just got the 2 disc blu ray, it's a great set
  14. Slasher movies ok? If so 2 great frenchies - Haute Tension (Switchblade Romance) and l'Interieur (Inside). Otherwise, The Mist and Cube...and apart from that only the obvious Zombie movies come mind
  15. No trains at all through New Street today, don't know about buses though, I assume they're running normal sunday times ?
  16. Yeh, it's practically exactly what you'd expect. The whole thing is basically a lazy metaphor for how the Serbian government is raping the population, from the very second they're born - hence the films most infamous scene. I just didn't find the idea engaging at all. Compared to some of it's peers, like Salo, it's a pretty poor.

  18. I have honestly no idea. Didn't take anything away from my enjoyment of the film though, I thought it was wonderful. As for Black Swan, I know it's UK cinema release isn't til Jan, but I will have forgotten about it by this time next year so it counts as this year right
  19. Oh was it? I bought the DVD and watched it for the first time this year, but I imagine it mustve had a limited cinema release in 2009? In that case I guess I'd stick Inception in at 5
  20. 1 - Enter the Void 2 - Catfish 3 - Das Weisse Band 4 - Toy Story 3 5 - Black Swan Been some crackers this year, Enter the Void is in my opinion the best film of the 21st century thus far. So glad I made the effort to see it at the cinema during it's limited run. Catfish and Black Swan are two films I've seen only very recently, in the last couple of weeks in fact, but they were both fantastic and very very memorable
  21. Is this the Aliens RPG? Or is that the one that was scrapped?
  22. And you should too, it is a fantastic movie. Although I'm very biased as I love literally all of Haneke's work - although that's not particularly difficult as he is, in my eyes, the very best director active in world cinema at the moment
  23. I'll be getting this, and am pleased their using a completly new engine, but am somewhat torn about some of the other issues with the game. It'd be great if they fixed the facial animation and employed 100 voice actors instead of 5 but...there was just something about a beggar in the Imperial City asking you if you could spare a coin in a really crone-y old voice...and then replying in perfect RP when you did so
  24. Gutted. Watch them get Ipswich with the 2nd leg at home now...
