  1. yep, some great players have disappeared in teh last few years - we had a great team /s for a while. and his debut was amazing; didnt martin petrov say he shouldve signed for a bhigger club than villa when he left celtic and that he was a bulgarian national hero etc etc. i think his wedding was on live tv over there!
  2. bristol rovers took 40000 to their play off final and whatever the cup final is called these days that divs 3 & 4 play for. they average 5/6000 at home though. doesnt mean owt.
  3. i was born in brum and grew up in Bromsgrove. I think there is a mix of both there but the only ones who ever made a big deal of it were blues fans. i think they work on the basis of if you keep saying the same thing over and over ie; bromsgroves full of blues fans then they think its true. id say there are as many man utd fans in most parts of brum as there are villa and blues fans.
  4. ive been a few times to watch the rovers and my mate has given me his season ticket (home end as he's on hols) so im going but the wrong end at this rate. quirky ground, good atmosphere when they can ber arsed turning up - the gas heads as they're known took 40000 to the play off final a few years ago but average about 6000. away end is behind goal then a random open terrace by the corner flag for another few hundred id say. lots of boozers on the route from city centre to the ground via gloucester road - got to give the cider a go!!!
  5. lallana didnt do a lot on saturday. soton had a lot of poncy looking players who were believing their own hype. bristol city announed £11 mill losses for the year, and £30 mill in total for past 3 years, the club car park had better motors than VP, cpnvertible bentleys, overfinch range rovers, 911's etc. could buy a couple of the players on the cheap. and its sam sonite who plays for west ham
  6. i watched bristol city v southampton on saturday and thought two of the bristol city players were very good. QPR fans are apparently twittering the club to tell them about lower leagues and foreign players so maybe we should do the same? Neil Kilknenny, ex blues by all accounts was the best player on the pitch. centre mid, like paul scholes, little dinks round the corner, good through balls, lot of vision etc Alfred Aldomah - right winger, big guy and very direct. not the greatest touch but kept going round players and out some great crosses in. anyone else seen any good players in the lower leagues? I also really rate the guy west ham signed earlier this year from MK dons - sam someone. he looks very good.
  7. why isnt there a craig gardner topic on here? surely his actions deserve one! "as soon as i heard sunderland were interested it was a no brainer" what a mecenary little oik he really is. better players have stayed with teams they took down and didnt purport to be a lifelong fan. im sure he's 65% midget too, when he scores and goes ruinning off waving his arms they never look long enough to me. im not a heightest by the way, i love ronnie corbett
  8. which teams will be in the champs league places though thats the thing. i'd say its chelsea, man city, man utd for def, then spuds, arsenal, liverpool for the last spot. how long before uefa make champs league places for the top 6 because everyone wants to play in it?! right now we are in the 3rd group with the likes of everton / newcastle in my opinion. players dont have the loyalty we do to the team and in many respects we shouldnt expect them to. its a job to them. with the rich getting richer and likes of man city and chelsea being able to buy their way to the top table we shouldnt expect that we will be as big a draw as we should be. sad to say it but Villa is now a team that will have amazing days occassionally but if we are realists the money pumped in around us and the mercenary approach of players and agents will mean everyone is always looking for the next big thing. look at spurs - did brilliantly last season, QF of champs league yet modric and bale looking for ways out to bigger things. sign of the times unfortunately. i said at the end of last season (09-10) that this will be the best we have for 20 years with a cup final, a cup semi, europe and 6th place. not being a pessemist but just the way football is going. Fancy dress

just back from a stag do and we went out as a circus - good craic if there is a few of you - had the ringleader, strongman, knifethrower, juggler, clown, few animals, palm reader, snake charmer etc etc - bit of variation!
  10. you cant be offside from a goal kick apparently
  11. This is exactly what I thought, really Blackburn would have thought they'd get the foul and then get back and reorganise but Downings positioning was good and a great decision by the referee to read the game as he did as Downing was still running on to the ball would not have been surprised to see the free kick given 9 times out of 10. When it came to it they did all they could in that move in the end, but once Downing had the ball it was always 3-0 either by Bent or Downing unless one of them messed up. if he had gone over to tackle dpowning it wouldve been a carbon copy of the bet goal at united recently, young drew the foul at exactly the same point in the move, downing races on to the gap behind and on this occassion tookit in the space, against united bent gave him the option to tap it in either way, good movement, quick thinking and a goal for the villa.
  12. kyle walker woulkd be a good signing too as he looked good on the ball but we did over complicate things in the final third - the goal was quick and flowing and looked good. dont agree with YIM, i thought our centre halves were solid bar the 45 second over the top ball and the second goal was more because noone seemed to anticipate (bar nani) that if berbatov won the flick on he was unmarked. 3rd goal conceded an unlucky corner trying to nick the ball away. that said freidel made 6 great saves so couldve been a thumpoing but they are very good and we looked far better than 3 months ago. young needs to stay on the wing!!
  13. driving home last night from OT we had heart or smooth or something on; they had alison moyet's only you and elton john's and i geuss thats why they calkl iut the blues. both fitted well with jean makoun and i reckon the alison moyet one could last for ages rather than a quick chant, "all we needed was the shot you made all we needed was the pass you played you are claret and blue jean makoun" then it goes on for ages with lots of na na, na na, etc etc. may be a bit gay but a good fit and easy to remember. or elton john "and i guess thats why they call him makoun time on the ball and a pass through to stu tackling like .... passing like .... shooting like thunder, long trip home, havent thought it through but could ber a start!
  14. i thought we played well in large parts and Makoun was very good - if you could have one complaint against him it would be that he was on the edge of the box at least three times and i wouldve hoped at least once he may have wanted to have a shot. Ashley young has to be on the wing, he's not a second striker but i think ged is trying to play marc, downing and him all together. didnt think petrov was that bad but we do need one of the two holding midfileders to occassionally burst forward rather than sideways passes all day long. great move for the goal, dunne and collins were very good bar the first minute and brad stopped at least 3 goals. MOTM Makoun p.s. went with utd fan and sat to the right of the villa fans. not criticising as its me in there doing the same most weeks but i think we need some news songs. only thing we could hear everynow and then was holtenders in the sky. UTV
  15. i like it. could see that working well with a few thousand brummy twangs
  16. bradley F, rolls the ball to dunney dunney on to stan the man and out to marc albrighton marc albrighton down the wing like a torpedo throws the ball up in the aiiiiiirrrrrrrrrr for bent the holte end hero
  17. agreed. i did like he's strawberry blonde, he's strawberry blo oo onde collins aint ginger, he's strawberry blonde
  18. how about jean makoun makoun he's SMALLER than me and you he's over from cameroon jean makoun makoun
  19. the other issue is the apathy and looks you get fromthose around you if you did want to stand up and sing in parts of the ground and even th eholte. the Brigada should make themselves useful like real ultras and anyone who doesnt join in should be made to by a chav with a handkerchief covering their face... and i still think someone in brigada should take the role of pissed up, mad italian / spanish man at the front with top off facing the holte with a megaphobne getting the songs going!! propa ultras!!
  20. i love sheffield utd's you fill up my senses and given i live in bristol - the rovers sing goodnight irene and have done for 40 years. both great club anthems and we need to have something other than songs about SHA all day
  21. in terms of left backs i was surprised fulham got salcido, i thought he had a great world cup. how about the fat bloke at man city with the big arse and really slow???? he was quite a good left back in his day, perhaps he could come back.....
  22. to be fair i think we were all this excited when we thought we were getting ireland and this site was going to crash with the anticipation, me included. it may show ash we're serious about where we are going too and makoun and bent will be the end of reo shit for three years but now give me £50k to stay coker and big john.
  23. sam matterface is a prize penis - such a try hard
  24. I did these about 3 months ago - it would be great to have a few new songs BUT the biggest thing we could better is O Lord.... If you compare that to how spurs do oh when the saints go marching in - they get it just right. They do it really slowly and build it up for about 5 minutes and to be fair to them (and I cant stand spurs) it looks and sounds great as they all have the jazz hands going on. we do our O lord and its like we're in a race to finish it - its a great song we started up (and its now got a lot of copied versions) but we bomb through the whole thing in about 20 seconds. If we could slow it right down and got it going for about 5 minutes it would be wicked.
  25. That has been a problem for decades, it's like it's the law or something agreed. my mrs has the misfortune of talking about this weekly - villa i reckon give the ball to the opposition from at least 50% of throw ins we've had for about 7/8 years.
