I think the General has made things pretty clear now. The MON leaving story is already yesterday's news and by the club releasing an official statement now it would only bring that rumour back into the headlines.

I agree. Bad communication (if the rumours are true) is better than no communication. I'd be more worried if MON and Randy were not discussing these sorts of things with each other.

Just had a bit of a read on 606. Lots of trolling going on there and it's been said that O'Neill has left and it will be announced tomorrow, O'Neill has left and they're trying to talk him out of it or O'Neill will be leaving at the end of the season. Most, if not all of these rumours are probably a load of bullshit but they linger at the back of your mind. Don,t Go MON

This Saturday's game just went from being a big game to a VERY big game. In my opinion it wont just define this season but may define seasons to come.

Even if the club do deny it I doubt all people will quit it with these rumours. They'll be asking things like "why did the club take so long to respond?".

Hardly. He said there's no point adding to the story by making an official statement. He also pretty much said these things happen all the time (e.g. MON to Liverpool, MON to United) and that they'd be releasing statements every day if they replied to internet rumours.

Totally agree with the theory but will he? I'd say it needs to be a couple of very good players. Couple that with getting rid of the mediocre players / no hopers (about six at my count) and I think that sounds like a plan. MON is certainly not a bad manager but probably not as good as everyone thinks he is. His biggest fault is not learning from his mistakes. I think so. I said this already but I think we might start to see a new MON. I might be wrong, I might be right, only time will tell.

If MON starts rotating his squad more and we sign a couple of good players in the summer I think we'll have a really good chance next season.

and if we do - fine. But if you were a betting man, you would say 8th at the moment, and if you argue that, then you are aguing for arguings sake I'd say 6th or 7th. I think to say Villa will most likely finish 8th or 9th is too pessimistic and to say we'll finish 4th or 5th is too optimistic.

Very good post there. I would be so gutted if MON left because some of the "fans" pushed him out. It's something which could've been avoided.

I hope and think that they will. We may not get 4th, but let's go out there and give Spurs, Man City and Liverpool a run for their money and finish the season on a high. Winning the FA cup would be nice too. -
