It's not generally sung along to in the USA (it felt slightly odd singing along to it in Columbus for Villa's visit to Crew Stadium, but the British fans there had done a rousing rendition of GSTQ so the Yanks in the crowd felt compelled to sing along to ours). I remember watching a Blue Jays WS game with my mom, who commented on how the Canadians would sing along to (of course, O Canada is probably the best national anthem EVAR!). I figure the reason for generally being silent during the singing of the anthem is that it's viewed as a solemn occasion and should be treated as such. That probably answers why so many American fans complain when fans from the opposing nation boo the American national anthem in football. It's the norm for the home fans in Europe to boo the away team's national anthem... just like it is in South America. Btw, Italia's and Eire's national anthem > ALL national anthems :winkold:

I went to bed when it was 4-2 to Yankees and I was quite certain that I'd wake up and finding out Yankees won game 4... quite right I was too because Yankees batsmen have been excellent in the last two matches... especially A-Rod. And yes, it'd be AWESOME if Yankees win the WS in Philly tonight. Would be hysterical to see all the arrogant Philly fans start to cry.

West Ham are playing well right now and they've been so unlucky with results and tough fixtures they've had so far, but if we continue to play the 'Bolton' way I can't see us winning. Why can't be entertaining and play sexy football again? I'm very concerened about us in central-midfield now without Petrov... who's going to deliver, Coker, Sidwell? We still haven't replaced Barry and I think it's been shown this season, the only way we'll dominate in midfield is if we have a 5-man midfield, but that'd mean not playing Carew.

You think Cuellar's tackle late on in the game that lead to his second-booking was deserved? I personally don't think MR. Probe (despite being a crap ref) would of dished out a second yellow to Cuellar if Bilyatdenetonov was not sent off for his assault on Petrov and the Scousers getting hasty encouraging the referee to send Cuellar off. MR.Probe sent off Cuellar because he was influenced by the Everton fans and what had happened before with Bilyatdentonov - not the actual tackle.

But we all watched the stream and until Bilyatdetonov scored, the only noise we heard from the miserable Scousers is "Waaaaaaaaaaahhhhh" and "Handball"... there was a repeat of that in the second-half too, especially when Cuellar got his underseved second booking - pathetic. What did you think of Cahill's assaults on our players and Cuellar's second booking, Lucy?

Oh, forgot to mention... I did say beforehand in the "Weekend Football thread" we need to start capitalising on other results that go our way i.e Spuds getting hammered by Arsenal, we've failed to do that again and have missed out on the oppotunity of going 4th. It's a thing I'm getting annoyed with this season... but a draw at Everton isn't too bad. But there's no excuses, we NEED to beat West Ham next week - we can't go 3 games without a win.
