  1. Havent the 48 hours gone? Or was it 80 days around the world?
  2. If the stock market hasnt closed dealing with Aston Villa shares down then there´s no buy out close... I even suggest that they´ve got announcement from the parties that any take over talk is way of mark. The stock market must have information from a company that has shares in the market that is telling the situation. Otherwise Aston Villa can be shut down from the stock market... As long as there is no reaction from either the stock market, Aston Villa FC and The Comer Group...I would really say that this is not going to happen. It is a strange situation whereas the take over talks has been dragging on too long if there was any substantial interest from The Comer Group. I dont think that they´ve put in a bid for Ellis to consider yet...and the reason why lies only with The Comer Group. However...I do have my own theory that The Comer Group is really not too impressed with Villas financial state....or books. I think that Villa has been handled like shit when it comes to business and therefore Villa doesnt held as high value as Mr Ellis want them to.
  3. We should´ve that Pompey Russian instead...that could put up money to shut Ellis down. The Comer Group doesnt seem to have enough power to make a quick deal...or...most likely...Ellis is taking his time because he´s old and senil..forget who he talked to a few minutes ago so they´ve been starting the discussions on and on... I´m nervous that this will end in a big farce...like the evergoing hunt for Berson...and when he comes to the club they never use him...or use him properly.
  4. Baros wasnt available when we tried to get Beattie. Bellamy came along when it was clear that he couldnt be at Newcastle. I see these two players as opportunity that came along the road while Baros has been more planning. I´ll say that we got the best players of these three without any doubt! Baros is good and he can come real good because he is only 23!!
  5. I think that DOL plays with the pair that looks most sharp...it is very good that Villa has competition there now!! I wouldnt mind if DOL made a little special thing with the team and choosed to play Angel as an attacking midfielder. He wants the ball and he is a good passer.
  6. We need Baros..or the similar kind of "Big name" player but we need around 6-7 new players in that region to give Villa a good team that will challenge for Europe and for Champions league. I answered the third choice because Baros is a little bit overrated and he´s probably going to be too expensive. The reason why we choose to buy an expensive player is up to the clubs lack in fantasy and creativity. There is quite a few other prospects around outside of England that could do as good job as any... As I see it we need one classy goalkeeper. three new defenders where two is central. two creative midfielders one big profile and "20 goal" striker.
  7. Davis has a very good chance of overtaking Hendrie soon, but still I do rate Hendrie more as an attacking midfielder. I like both...but Hendrie do have som heavy backpackers with him that stops him from becoming a true legend. The lad is troublesome but I bet everyone holds a fist in the air and shout HENDRIE!!!! when he scores a goal...like he was a true hero. Little bit double here people? Hendrie has done many good things at Villa so I really think we should give him credit for those things instead of complaining about his errors. If he wasnt good...or rated...he would´ve left Villa long time ago...still he´s there! He is loyal...despite the team not having much to cheer about.
  8. We surely need someone in the same class as Mellberg when he´s at his best. He needs someone that can really challenge him and put him up to a real test. We dont need another squadmember because we have Cahill, Ridgewell and Hughes that can play as CB... We surely need competition for Samuel so he picks himself up and produce what we know he can produce. It is sad to see him only going 50% of his real talent. The same goes to Barry that I really think only uses around 70% of his capacity. McCann on the other hand...I dont think he can get any better...as for Hendrie. They has reached their peaks and they doesnt really be in a class that gives anyone hopes for Europe. I would love to see DOL trying to get someone else in that really can challenge McCann...and soon we see McCann returning to Sunderland. I´m very disappointed by his contribution to the Villa midfield. We must have better players in that region...or we will never get above 10th place. To dream about Europe is quite stupid if comparing to other teams that compete with us for top 6 place. Just look at Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool and Tottenham. We wont get above them this year if we dont improve massive...and Middlesbrough, Charlton, Bolton is almost above us. Newcastle has a bad manager and that holds them down. Man City has an unproven manager and that is going to show this season. Everton will have a good year, but will not reach Europe again because they dont have the same luck as last year with injuries and they cant cope with the programme for Premier and CL...
  9. Its gotta be Big Ron!! He had football within him and I really enjoyed his time at the manager post! Brian Little was too much into defensive display for my liking. He was good too of course..but not the same league as Ron Atkinson. I liked John Gregory too...but mostly because of his attitude towards life and football. A funny guy that did much for Villa...but wont be noticed for that. If given the same opportunity as the men above, David O´Leary will be a hero and a true Villa legend. Theres only one man in the way...and its sadly enough our chairman Doug Ellis.

    Are You ?

Pesimistic and frustrated with the clubs lack of ambition...it is there for everyone to see. We have a team that could end up relegated to be honest.
  11. Free transfer targets Luis Figo and Christian Vieri would get us up where we belong...so David O´Leary...make a real crunching coup here! They still have a lot to give the club they signs for and I would love them at VP thats for sure! Not only because their own capability...but for what it gives Villa in comercial aspects...both football wise as business wise! Well...I keep dreaming...but someday I´ll hit it just right... :winkold:
  12. RantinRob: Yet another bitter comment... There´s no obligation in writing or participate in every poll...or thread. So please show some gratitude that people do turn up here from time to time. The forum has sometime a negative tone and I think thats sad...and when you try to pick up something to talk about you´ll often end up throatcutted from some member that been here for a long time. I understand that it sometime can get too much with rumours, polls and so on...but is it really necessary to turn it down like garbage? :winkold:
  13. I have to say Beattie...he´s younger...he will play in europe and he will be a better long term assett then Phillips. Phillips will be a very good assett for Villa, but still little bit too short for comparing to what Beattie will mean for Everton this season. £750.000 is a very good price for a player like Phillips...but with his age in mind I would compare it to a value of £5m if he were the same age as Beattie.
  14. Berger, Hughes and now Taylor is more about getting back up for the ones he already has... Now it´ll come to "big" names...I think that DOL will bring on two more signings. One striker and one midfield. I would guess Dacourt and Viduka....or Butt and Phillips. I would prefer Aimar, D´Alessandro and Robinho but lets get honest...we´re not there as a club to make such a signings.
  15. Great signing really! He has a well known talent...he´s 24...and he´s coming to Villa to push Sorensen from the first spot! Sorensen will probably be the first choice for DOL, but if Sorensen make stupid mistakes in the beginning of the season he´ll quickly make place for Taylor! I think he´ll become our new goalie within a season...I have a feeling that this can be another Bosnich in the making (of course meaning when Bosnich was in his best days).
  16. Its easy... Glazer doesnt spend so much time and so much money to throw the Man U trademark away. I guess it is just pure business for Glazer, but on that road Man U will benefit in players that the club brings in. He is a man that took a shattered baseball team and made them winners...would he go the other way with Man U? Nope...he will make this club stronger and if he sells...he´ll get more than he gave for the club. Will Man U ever be the same? That is the question...will this hurt the traditions and legacy of English football? Probably...but he isnt first to do that...Abramovich is on his way to destroy the league and the history of British football. Something is ringing highly in my head..."The world is not enough". Man U will probably take their trademark to USA and probably there will be a club started there...to play in the WFL or what it is called... I think that this can sparkle a downfall for the Premier League if they not on their toes...a world league with the best teams can be on the verge of a start.
  17. The "None of them" should´ve been there because I made that in the poll, but somehow it didnt go through when I sent the thread...
  18. Interesting days for Villa...first Portsmouth´s Berger and now...
  19. I like the old better than the latest. However, the old one does look very much like the one of Bayer Munich and the official UEFA logo... That doesnt bother anything at all, but the one with Bayer Munich have sometimes made me wonder about history, where the logo came from and so on...
  20. I do hope that he doesnt sign him. He´ll get even older next season and if you cant score more goals than this against a team with defensive problems like Villa have then I would certainly question his ability today...and tomorrow!
  21. I do hope that he doesnt sign him. He´ll get even older next season and if you cant score more goals than this against a team with defensive problems like Villa have then I would certainly question his ability today...and tomorrow!
  22. He will surely regain his place IF he starts scoring on a regular basis... He´s getting better so maybe we´ll have a good striker next season.
  23. How can Solano be voted the most improved player of the year???? Strange...I´ve seen him better...and I´ve seen him better last season at Villa. Davis on the other hand has really taken a big step forward, as Ridgewell.
  24. Laursen! Davis isnt a newcomer eh??
  25. Villa need someone that is aggressive in the attack to complement Angel or Vassell. Both of them are too much "Mr Nice Guy"... I want attitude and will for the next season...someone that make some sleeping people to wake up in the team!
