  1. Herd or Bannan...not really known as trouble makers are they??? They have had one incident each when they have been on the pop, but besides that have never heard anything that they cause trouble on the training ground...
  2. It's not something that I have ever thought about but fair play Lambert, if he see's it as important. As for the Holte making noise, its reactive, if the team are creating chances then noise comes from the crowd, if the team do not attack and do not put in effort, life is sucked from the crowd...there is no need for drums or anything like that. It's a catch 22 situation...chances created, crowd make noise, players perform better, more chances created, more noise.. From the sounds of it the majority of people are happy with the appointment and there is a sense of excitment behind Lambert therefore I expect VP to be rocking opening game
  3. Petrov is highly unlikely to play a competitive game in a villa shirt again. Given isn't the most vocal of goalkeeprs and doesnt always command his area, only on experience would he really get the captaincy. Dunne? No thanks, shouldn't really play for the club again. Even if he did I just don't see a leader there. He is pretty quiet on the pitch (look at game vs west ham beginning 10/11 season dunne and clarke centre backs and clarke shouted more than Dunne) , is prone to a lot of errors and doesn't seem to care about the club. Like others said don't think the captain is at the club, unless PL is going to build the team around the youth and then (big ask) it could go to Clarke or Gardner who have both led at reserve levels. Would be a lot of responsibility at such a young age, but could work wonders.
  4. Excellent news! He wasn't my first choice but he is still a good move and I think will fit perfectly here....
  5. I really hope some movement’s today guys... it's classed as normal day today isn't it...surely negotiations will be on-going and maybe an announcement could be made today. Cant see it. What does it say? I can see it okay. Basically says that Lambert had a clause in his contract to speak to a Premier League club. Norwich went against the clause, he resigned, things got heated then calmed down. Legal proceedings were threatened, Randy willing to pay a small sum to speed things up... things currently at a standstill. When I click on your link it just says deleted tweets etc....but then doesn't show any. What's the crux of what they say?

  7. From what i can see, no. I seen the "Villa will approach PL in within the next 24 hours" on sky sports website, but i can't find anything backing that up. Honestly ...how many people have said today? Welcome Paul We're hiring Paul Lambert. Nobody listened did they! People (me included) can't come on the board & tell people how they know sometimes you just have read what they've posted!! That being said you were also making noises only a day or two ago re moyes....
  8. You won't be happy unless we unveil Mourinho. Laudrup Benitez Klinsmann Let's be realistic now. At best I'd say, based on our squad and past few seasons, we'd be lucky to be rated in the top 10 of the Premier League. Also our stock in Europe is almost 0 due to lack of European football. The above 3 would probably respond with "Aston who?" On that logic so would the current crop of BYT's - Lambert, Bob M & Rodgers The point being we are not in any position to just turn up and say "we're Aston Villa sign this contract" Out stock has dropped dramatically over the last few years. We need to sell the club to managers and doing that to the likes of Laudrup and Klinsman would involve monumental amounts of money. With all due respect we can however offer a better job to a manager coming from Norwich, Swansea or Wigan. Whilst I can see the point you are making, isn't Laudrup out of work? IF and it's a very big IF he was interested in continuing with his management development a role at a decent sized English club like ourselves may be seen as a perfect step back into management. Not that I think we will get him, but I could see why if offered the role he would take it under serious consideration. The point re Klinsman is very valid.
  9. My understanding (Gazton please feel free to say if incorrect) is that Gazton himself wouldn't have any further info until July ie his source is away, rather than the club not making any moves until July..
  10. I agree on this...I only mentioned Rutland before becuase he (unless by some ridiculous scenarios) is not going to see a minutes action in the Euros...it would be more effective for his career to go to Olympics (where he has a chance of starting most games)
  11. Slight over reaction maybe???? There are 4 premiership clubs (including european champions, and one of the biggest clubs in world football) all looking for a permanent manager, all of which have been doing so for a similar amount of time to us (in Albion's case a lot longer) and yet none have made an appointment...does that mean that no one decent wants them either?
  12. Don't think it says anything about the money being made available. Think they are looking for something new and different to add to the table. At this moment in time we have no idea how much money will be avialable Why are we being linked with managers who have been recently sacked? OGS, Lambert, Martinez, Poyet, RDM, Grayson...all recently been sacked? We are being linked with all and sundry doesn't mean we are approaching any of them.

  14. Doesn't s'gate work as youth technical director for th fa? In which case he wouldn't be that cheap....
  15. In my eyes this is a ridiculous call up. It now means that he can't play in the olympics, which would've been more benefital for his long term benefit than being 3rd choice (and nver playing) in the euros
  16. So he didn't miss training? He didn't miss a match? He met up with the squad at the correct time when they are due for a long haul flight? Was he bevvied up the night before a game? Don't really see that he has done anythiong wrong too be honest.
  17. 20 yr league table. Saw this before (not sure if fits in with the branding, but not worthy of new thread), league table of 20 yrs in the prem....always a team full of draws...far too many...
  18. Haha that's ace I had the Amiga 500+ spent hrs and many broken joysticks (international athletics or something of that ilk) on that....I had so many copied games, that if I played each for 30 mins, I probably take a week to get through....those were the days....plus villa were pretty competitive in those days ( early 90's)
  19. The tinkerman wouldnt fit us well at all imo....would want money...hasnt really set the world alight recently....Albion welcome to him... Wilkins (someone else quoted before albion interviewing) on the other hand would be a good move.
  20. I doubt he'd fit the "vibrant" criterion that's been bandied about, and I think Randy & Pauly are also looking for someone younger. It's not clear yet whether Ranieri has been interviewed alone by the Baggies, or in tandem with Ray Wilkins. Personally I'd welcome them with open arms right now! I think the vibrant thing has gone. Don't forget when he made that statement:- OGS - has probably indicated he was interested Liverpool - Weren't looking for a manager (Now looks like they have first refusal on Martinez) Lambert - was tight lipped about his future So when he made that statement - he was probably referring to OGS - and even if something went wrong he had Martinez. We should have done the deal with OGS on the friday - who were these other people we were waiting to speaking to....Simon Grayson, Glen Hoddle ? What are you basing the statement on? The club has made no noise on who they are considering. How do you know that it it isn't someone vibrant abroad? Talk about jumping to conclusions
  21. Whilst I agree that Benitez did a good job, there was a pretty good squad to start with. Has he ever had to start the building job? I don't know, so it's a genuine question
  22. Rafa would be good but really can't see it happening, would want a lot of money and doesn't really fit in with the infamous "vibrant" policy. Still hoping that they have approached someone off the radar, who will be a perfect match. Someone able to attract good name signings, have an excellent scouting record, good at intrigating the youth and plays attacking possession football....well we can dream.
  23. Is this talk of an annoucement false? Just wondered where people are getting this from?
