  1. I quite like Westwood when he's on the ball, it's just his positioning off the ball and defensive work that needs sorting out
  2. With 3 of our first choice centre backs out, I can only see Arsenal scoring at 2. Just remains to see whether we can do anything in an attacking sense
  3. He's also tweeted the team of the year already ahead of tonight's ceremony. Be interested to see if he's right !
  4. I'd be happy if we went in for Chalobah, been good the few times I've seen him and has loads of potential
  5. Not surprised about Allegri, more surprised that he's managed to hold on for that long. What a talent Domenico Berradi looks as well, 4 goals in a game for a 19 year old and 11 in 14 for a team near the bottom is ridiculous
  6. Hey, I'd love a PM too please. Depay is a special talent!
  7. I like Wells as a player and would happily have him here. He's young, quick, skillful and has scored goals at all levels he's played at. My only concern is that if funds are limited, are we really in a position to take a punt on him when other areas of the team need strengthening more ? To me, he's the sort of punt we should have taken instead of Bowery who hadn't even really proved himself as a goalscorer at League 2 level
  8. Lacina Traore could be very good for West Ham, only seen him play a few times but looked a threat every time
  9. How exactly do you 'step-up' your interest? "Hello, Porto, we're interested in Defour" "Okay..." A few days later: "Porto, we're really interested in Defour" "Well put a bid in then!" "We're preparing a bid." "We'll brace ourselves shall we?" I must have missed the stage when we were "keeping tabs" on Defour then
  10. I doubt we were intending to sign Defour to play him deep in my opinion. Wouldn't be that different to Westwood if played like that. Part of the reason he flopped at Porto. Did Defours agent not say this evening that Villa were showing interest. I know it could be him trying to engineer a move but never know. I would have thought Westwoods position would be exactly were we would play Defour That's exactly how I see it too. Don't think Defour will happen but him, Delph and Hoolahan looks quite a decent midfield and KEA, Westwood, Bacuna and Sylla as back ups
  11. Defour and Hoolahan are very different types of players though so can't see why we can't go after both ? Always liked Hoolahan, clever little player and would be a good link between midfield and attack
  12. Made a £1.5m bid for Wes Hoolahan according to the Mirror http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfer-news-wes-2985369
  13. Would love to think there was a chance it could happen but sadly, I think this might end up as Belhanda mk2. Hope I'm wrong though!
  14. He'll also know Vlaar and KEA from Feyenoord too. Birmingham mail reporting our interest in Guidetti now too.
  15. That article from Nursey is quite interesting in that he mentions were looking at an all round midfielder from abroad and Defour would certainly fit that bill. He's got good experience, was a captain for his team at 19 and according to a couple of different sites, his salary is about €12-13k a week too ? No idea how well he's been playing for Porto but he's always looked a good player for Belgium and looked great at Standard Liege too.
  16. No thanks to Heitinga or Dann ( experienced but really not that good ) or Marveaux who was mentioned earlier ( gets injured way too much ). Mohammed Sissoko could be an interesting one but no idea if he's any good still and would presumably want huge wages as he's on a free and was at PSG. Ronaldinho ? Behave...
  17. I actually think playing in a team that is struggling might be a good thing for him in the long term, he's gaining invaluable experience and can only be character building. Fair play to him, he's really starting to make an impression on games by the looks of it. I desperately want him to succeed here too as I'm mates with his cousin !
  18. Lovey header from Adebayor. What a player he is when he's up for it
  19. Now added. Fire away everyone. I think you are undervaluing the team though. Remember we got £2-3 million when we sold Bannan where as some people were valuing him at about zero. Maybe so but I can't see anyone realistically paying £9m for Ciaran Clark or £12m for Gabby
  20. I don't think Spurs would loan him to Everton or Newcastle as they would both be considered rivals to get into the European places. Swansea would definitely be a possibility as Michu is injured for a few weeks and he knows the setup there. I don't think we'd have much of a chance signing him permanently but on loan, why not ?
  21. The fact Sherwood seems to favour two strikers means that there selection of midfielder's looks even greater, so you could be correct. Sherwood has also put a couple of youth team midfielders on the bench recently too so added to the 11 first team midfielders they already have, they definitely have too many. Siggurdson doesn't really fit in anywhere in a 4-4-2 either so you'd have to think they'd consider a loan enquiry for him. Wether he'd come to us is another matter. Funnily enough, he was always someone I wanted us to sign when he was at Reading too
  22. If he does get back to full fitness, I'd actually like to see him on the right side of a 4-3-3 with Benteke and then Gabby on the other side. He was at his best at Wigan when he was cutting in from that side yet to my knowledge, we've never really played him in that position ? I personally don't think he's great as a number 10 as his decision making is a bit iffy but I'd certainly welcome him back into the team to have someone running at players again !
  23. Yeah Sigurdsson would be a great signing in my opinion, he has always been good as well it isn't as if we'd be signing somebody who is hit and miss. Consistently played well for the last 4 or 5 years, right from the lower leagues as well. Experienced, talented and still only just turned 24 in September. Would Spuds want to sell him though? Better yet, could we afford him? I don't think he's that realistic for a permanent signing as better teams would be in for him than us (sadly) if they were to sell him but on loan could be realistic ?
