I know where you got this from - and I will go against the grain. Despite you and I thinking we know what is best for the child - I think the child has a fundamental right to be with it's natural mother. We don't know whether the mother will change her behaviour after being reunited with her child. Labels such as 'junkie whore' are all well and good - but she is still the child's mother. I can't speak for anyone who is adopted - but there surely must be some curiosity as to who the natural parent(s) are? It certainly isn't as black and white as ' we should never return the child to a woman who is not a fit parent'.
