    This. We’re 11th for a start and not 5th. We’re very likely to happily settle into a solid mid table spot and spend the rest of the season planning for the summer and getting the existing squad up to speed with Emery’s approach. People don’t understand delayed spending and gratification. We care about what Villa do over the next 10 years, not for the rest of this season. It’s so short sided and gives the club and Emery zero credit. You sell when others are paying premium prices, and you buy when you can get a deal. It’s basic finance.

    Be a part of the solution and not the problem. Constantly whining and complaining isn’t a good look. Kamara alone made the summer an amazing window. If we don’t buy anyone it’s because our manager and other staff have decided the cost isn’t right for the players available. We have a real back room now. Have some faith.

    I’m confident based on performances and points in the tank that we won’t get relegated. I’m similarly confident that we have zero chance of 4th. Europa league is a sack of shit. So we can afford to wait. No need to rush anything here. Just buy players we love at reasonable prices if they are available. If not, then we wait. You don’t fight with teams that NEED players in January / you’ll get your face ripped off. Not sure what all the panic is about / we are in the best spot we have been for a long time now. Things are looking up by the day. If we don’t sign anyone, it doesn’t bother me. We can scrape together at least 15 more points with what we have plus kids. I expect way more than that, but reminder this is a long term play. We aren’t about winning now - we are looking to compete over the longer term. There is not infinite budget in the FFP world.

    I genuinely think that in 30 years time the Holte will still be singing about what Unai did for the club. Wow. I’ve been envious of other fans and clubs over the years. I’ve never been this fired up to be a Villa fan. What a time to be alive!! I feel like I just loaded a new Football Manager save as Villa manager and downloaded the best tactics and training schedules… I KNOW I AM, I’M SURE I AM, I’M UNAI TIL I DIE!

    Selling one player who barely starts, is over the hill (even though he is our top goal scorer), who has 18 months left on contract and who is no way in hell re-signing for us. Good business. Trust the process... He doesn't fit Unai's system and therefore he doesn't fit Aston Villa. Move along.

    Personally - I take so much from this performance. Old Villa played one way and one way alone - there was zero clue how to change it up. we’re going to have bad days and spells. Sometimes the other team just have your number. But he changed it up, made some wacky subs and we almost grabbed the win. That’s what top 6 clubs do. The find a way to grab something even when they are shite… I wish fans were a little bit more forward looking. Believe in Unai…

    Yep. It was entirely accidental in my opinion - he wasn’t being malicious. But it was still a penalty. If the ref had given it, they would have upheld I reckon.

    We lost. Oh well. We’re going to have a lot more of them along the way too. This was a weakened squad. Also for all of you saying “why Olsen”… Can you imagine the morale hit on Emi if he missed the World Cup due to getting an injury in the league cup… This ain’t a premier competition! We kept pace with United for most of it, and in fact we’re leading them twice in the game. United had better subs to bring on. United have conceded 7 goals at home this year in all completions and we have two of them… I personally took so many positives from that. I enjoyed the way we played - we looked dangerous the entire game, even though the back looked weak (but it wasn’t our starting back 4). I like him giving lots of players a chance and the LC is the venue to do that. Bad result. With Emi in goal we at least make penalties… Good performance compared to where we were.
