  1. Because if the journalism was decent in that site we would have seen it over the last year, not just now.
  2. Totally agree but apparently unless you have blind faith you are to be mocked.
  3. But exactly. They then change and give a really interesting article that represents the club well and we’re supposed to believe it wasn’t fed by the club?
  4. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfers-benrahma-watkins-18889308 The Bham Mail has spent the whole season flogging crap about JG being sold but then suddenly comes out with an insightful article about our transfer limitations... literally, this is the only article all year that wasn’t click bait or already confirmed.
  5. I think it is noticeable that the excuses are starting to be drip fed from the club. There are many clubs constrained by FFP and other issues that are strengthening their squads. We are not and it is a failing. Just because I love the club does not mean I can’t question their ability to perform in the transfer market.
  6. Ah yes, much much better to make no attacking signings at all after promising the players and manager they would. Good stuff.
  7. Whether we like to admit or not (and some on this thread seem in denial) other clubs of our level are making signings and improvements. We are not, and it is not ok.
  8. The Athletic are reporting that Newcastle have bid 17.5m plus add ons and confirmed that Bournemouth want Matt Ritchie. I can see that deal coming off which is a shame because I was just warming to the idea.
  9. Twitter says Romero is now linked to Chelsea and we’re asking about Spurs back up keeper.
  10. BBC reporting that there is no agreement in place for this deal. The inability of Villa to get a deal over the line is concerning.
  11. I honestly didn’t think we wouldn’t complete a single signing in the whole of August.
  12. Re the wages... If we’re going up against teams such a Fulham and West Ham for players, it has already been discussed how London clubs have an automatic advantage (especially if the player is already based there). Our reputation is not what it was and will take a while to rebuild so they probably are going to have to offer big bucks to convince players to come. Our wage structure is low which has served us well during the pandemic but realistically if we want to maintain PL status, it will need to rise.
  13. Squad options are going to be especially important as the PL are apparently going to the 5 subs rule to the revote in September 3rd. Big 6 weren’t happy they lost.
  14. If he ever sees this thread, he’s going to employ security Carryonvilla and SeanVilla are first in line for the restraining order.
  15. Southgate now furious that he’s going to have to think of yet another reason not to call up.
  16. Yes! I also wish they would do that but then they might aswell just advertise the ones they really are into. eg...AVFC are in for Higuan, Eze, Abraham, Buendia, Trippier, Rashica...”no, we’re not” AVFC are in for Aarons, Watkins, Edouard....”no comment”.
  17. I can totally see that logic but we don’t have much control over that these days with fake accounts on Twitter linking us to everyone. I really wish the club would get one decent one over the line tho.
  18. Well Tammy’s just been posting “welcome brother” messages to Ben Chilwell on Insta so maybe not.
  19. To be fair, my son looked like that at the same age, he loved the boob. He is now whippet thin, age 8. I feel like I’m on Mumsnet.
  20. This sums it up. It’s like the people that are soooo relaxed about our lack of transfer business think that points only count after October 5th. We need people in place before these games.
  21. As long as it’s good, I’ll be over the flippin moon!
  22. I don’t play Football Manager and I have been supporting Villa for over 25 years so I know we are completely capable of messing up a transfer window. Out of interest, at what point will the “have patience” folk start to be worried given that Smith himself cited the troubles of player landing days before the season started?
  23. The “have patience” line was fine a couple of weeks ago but is starting to wear thin now. We need a minimum of 4 signings, we should have at least sorted one if not two by now.
