  1. That’s probably the first time he’s trusted his body to show his pace since his injury.
  2. We can compare to Newcastle last season - they had a similar wobble last season but then they got a couple of wins together and cruised the last few games to qualify for CL.
  3. 49% possession. 46% against Man City in the win at Villa Park. We’re a good effing team.
  4. If the players don’t have the confidence to win every game from now until end of the season then they should kindly inform Don Unai they’re not made of the right stuff.
  5. I said it that we will beat at least one of Man City , Arsenal or Liverpool in the run in but wasn’t sure which teaM we’d beat however after that victory today we will do Liverscum at home. Last home game of the season CL music blaring.
  6. Where was Spurs’ defensive application and desire today? Where’s their strength and defensive attributes that some were crowing about? injuries have derailed our season we have a smaller squad than most of the top half. Next season when we have a settled back line we’ll see how many goals we concede (it won’t be many).
  7. I’ve always said that we will get a win against Liverpool, City or Arsenal but I wasn’t sure which team but we’d lose the other two. That leaves Arsenal or Liverpool so I still don’t know which one we’ll win.
  8. If Newcastle win their last 6 in a row they deserve to finish wherever they finish. Likewise if they don’t win another.
  9. Yes and? The same Brentford that created over 30 opportunities against Manure. The team that you stated (loosely) that caused us disruption. Why didn’t Brentford created 30 chances against us if we’re so bad defensively? Brentford are below where they should be due to injuries and a misdemeanour from their star striker. 9 minutes of madness and they took full advantage. Even then their first goal was the mother of all flukes.
  10. @TRO we did see off Man City and Arsenal with clean sheets - but that was with a very settled team. Since the new year we’ve had to chop and change our back line and midfield. Im surprised for someone who goes on about the Ron Saunders years that you wouldn’t consider the injuries and the mental fatigue that is setting in. If we get CL one or two of the players will be told to find other clubs as our Elite manager will know they’re not capable. As our Elite manager says it’s a process. And we’re ahead of schedule.
  11. I love it when people compare us with the top 3 in fact any of the top 6 or Newcastle. The top 6 who have locked away any new competition and are able to spend vastly more than us. Newcastle who have a bottomless pit of money and dodgy deals to fall back upon. Defenders that cost 50m plus (Man City) , CDM’s costing £100m + and yet we’re only 10 points off top and still in with a shout of top 4 / CL qualification. These clubs have monopolised the top 6 positions for the last decade or so but for a few exceptions (Leicester failed and got relegated). Newcastle broke their monopoly on CL qualification but how much did they spend? Our Upper mid table squad is on the brink of CL qualification and they are wobbling slightly due to mental fatigue and the fact a lot of them haven’t been this high in the league ever. We need a win or two to get the confidence back and see us over the line. Saturday showed the effect of not being able to compete financially with these clubs. A decent CDM would have helped. Which means Dougie gets rested and McGinn in the middle or Tielemens alongside. Another good RB and Konsa plays in the centre. And Pau or Carlos get rotated when needed. Under Slippy winning mentality G we lose that game. Not having a settled line up is hurting us. When we did we were hardly conceding any chances. But we came back to draw. So maybe these guys have got a bit more character than the reams and reams of the same posts people are giving them credit for. In the summer regardless if we get CL the same 6 clubs will spend and offer more wages than us.
  12. Oooo even I can afford that… meow…
  13. I wonder if McGinn was standing in front of him when he posted that.
  14. Any players we bring in will have to be good on the ball to play for Don Unai. He mentions possession a lot in his interviews.
  15. It was Wissa who injured his ankle at the Brentford ground in the first game. He’s been carrying it ever since then. He’s most likely still recovering from the injury but he’s been playing through the pain barrier. Class player full summer to recover and he’ll be back on top form next season.
  16. He in addition initiates the press. In the Liverpool game he would have harassed Trent when he dropped off and started pinging balls over our back line. The same in other games too.
  17. That first tweet is exactly it. People need to get a lot of perspective. I mentioned it before the First Man City game that this is a different kind of pressure for the majority of the squad. If we make CL the experience will enhance most of our squad.
  18. This is where one or two freebies even if they’re older will be great for us. I would love someone like Dani Parejo to come in and help out the Cm/Cdm position he wouldn’t be expensive but he will provide us with a lot of control in the middle. I’m sure there are others available for various positions.
  19. Concentration and possibly a lack of a Mings type who keeps everyone on their toes.
  20. I’d say it’s more about the squad depth more than anything. Losing key players at key moments is the main reason for this.
  21. It’s alway between 46-65 - maybe Don Unai tells them to relax and the players take this as a cue to go to sleep.
