  1. Leeds still cutting through us. We have been absolutely rubbish. Nothing here to be positive about.
  2. Yeah I thought the hype abut Smith was premature. Bielsa gets the best out of players no matter what their lack of ability. Smith is too scared to make a change and only ever brings Traore on for Trez. It's just too obvious.
  3. It's actually been a shocking performance. It's been really woeful. I don't care we have won 4 games in a row, this performance is simply not good enough.
  4. On paper we're so much better than Leeds. That's what's so ridiculous.
  5. We need to play through Leeds to open them up. All we're doing is lumping the ball up. It's so frustrating. Just get some passes going. We're making Leeds look like fricking Barcelona FFS.
  6. We need to start playing football if we're going to win this.
  7. Leeds been better so far. Need to improve in the 2nd half.
  8. That's a depleted back line. I'll be shocked if we don't get at least 2 goals tonight.
  9. Ezri Konsa's birthday today. 3 points and a clean sheet would do nicely
  10. To be fair 3 of them finished bottom half last season and 1 of them is newly promoted. Add to that 3 of them are at home (if that counts for anything any more without fans being there) and I think before the season started we'd be looking to win at least a couple of them and maybe draw a couple too. But I take your point, no game is easy in this league. All of those teams have players that can hurt us. We lost to Southampton at home last season and only just beat Brighton, drew with W'Ham and narrowly lost to Arsenal. I don't see those games being easy. But we are a better side than last season and have just beaten two very good sides. In attack and defence we look so good right now. Predicting 10+ points from those games is optimistic, but not delusional or arrogant. If our players stay fit and firing I think we'll achieve that.
  11. Being cautiously optimistic but I think with the way we're playing: Leeds (h) - W Southampton (h) - W Arsenal (a) - L Brighton (h) - W Spam (a) - D So I voted 9-11 with 10 points. I'd be a bit disappointed with 6-8 and anything below that is poor. Looking at our next 10 games, there is a good possibility we could have 30+ points after 14 matches. That would be incredible if so. But the games get much tougher in the second half of the season, so important we keep winning now to gain momentum.
  12. A chance for the team to make history on Friday by being the first Villa side to win their first five games EVER. And we'll go top too. No better incentive to win the game. I believe they can do it.
  13. Yeah I agree. I'm not sure they would go as high as £50m at this stage, but I think they'd pay up to £40m. They may pay more than £40m if it included add ons but it's all guess work really. I'd much rather pay that sort of money for a player like Barkley, particularly if he (as is looking likely so far) has an excellent season for us and is proven in this league. If you think that Wolves paid £35m for an unproven teenager, Newcastle £40m on Joelinton, and Spam £40m on Haller, the money we spend on Barkley will be much better value.
  14. Forgot about Oxlade-Chamberlain, that was a bit of an odd one on Liverpool's part. For arguments sake, let's say you're right and they did want that much. Do you think our owners would pay it?
  15. Sigurdsson was a very good player at the time and was Swansea’s best player by a mile. Nothing like the Barkley situation as he’s already behind 2 players. People saying £50m are wide of the mark, but equally £25m is prob a bit low. £30-40m would be fair and a huge profit on the £15m they paid Everton, I think they’d take that. He’d be our most expensive signing but worth it I think.
  16. If I were choosing the current England back four, him and Mings would be a shoe-in to start. I'd be amazed if Konsa doesn't make the next squad.
  17. I'll never hide from the fact I didn't think Dean was good enough last season. It was always going to be tough first season back with so many new players added, sure, but tactically we were naïve and were fortunate to survive. And I feel anyone questioning him when we looked so poor for so long last season shouldn't be shot down at this point - that's what caring for this club is all about. He's doing a great job now and long may it continue. It's still early days in the season and it will be interesting to see how he does if we have a slump in form, or first 11 players are injured or suspended. But ultimately he takes a lot of credit for the turnaround in form that this great club has shown and he deserves full respect for that.
  18. Even if it costs as much as £40m we need to get him in. He's improved us massively. Didn't really have a great game last night but still popped up with the winner which shows what he can do. It's a shame we couldn't get a pre-agreed price to sign permanently included in the deal but I imagine Ch£ls£a were behind that. I juts think regardless of how he plays for us he doesn't have a future with them anyway. They've just signed Havertz for £70m and Mount is also preferred. If he stays it will continue to be cameos from the bench which isn't good for his career considering he's at peak age now. Surely he'll want to come here over anywhere else. We can certainly afford him and he's playing like he's been here for years.
  19. A lot of Arsenal fans actually say he's better than Leno and it should have been him sold rather than Emi. He's certainly improved our defence much like Allisson did at the scousers. Certainly better than the likes of De Gea and Lloris who are nowhere near the keepers they once were.
  20. Arguably best GK in the league. How he can't get in the Argentina team I do not know.
