  1. Agreed. The lowest scorers in the top half last season have lost their manager. We're looking for direction from the Board to appoint someone quickly (surely we must know who we want) and we badly need another striker. If we don't have both by the close of this transfer window it's another failed opportunity and backwards step.
  2. Did Downing actually touch the ball?
  3. Friedel - 2/10 Young - 3/10 Dunne - 2/10 Clark - 1.5/10 Warnock - 1/5/10 Albrighton - 2/10 Petrov - 1/10 Ireland - 2/10 Downing - 0.5/10 Young - 4/10 Carew 1/10 McDonald: Tactics 0/10 What a surprise Irleand/Petrov (two attacking midfielders) lost the midfield battle. No one could have predicted that could they! No shots on target whatsover! Failed to make the right changes until way too late Emile Heskey - there really is no point to him getting 1 minute on the pitch. Utterly useless! A disgrace, a shocker surely there has to be some positives: McDonald should now not be our permanant manager! (if they have any sense) It's even clearer we need a striker (although it's been clear for about 2 seasons now!) Hopefully we'll learn away from home Ireland and Petrov on their own in central midfield does not work. Hopefully the game will be a lesson that you have to hit the target to have a chance of scoring.
  4. McDonald was proven as way out of his depth today. Poor team selection, poor substitutes, little heart and little organisation. The worst and most gutless Villa performance I have ever seen. About time we use that £18m to get a striker who can get a shot on target in 90 minutes don't you think?
  5. Looks like Spurs are about to announce another youthful signing.
  6. I really hope we learn from last season's match. We played Heskey alone up front and obviously didn't score. We really need an away goal so let's go for it.
  7. Which they have no chance of winning. Big deal. If they concede 3 away to Young Boys (who also hit the post) think what Barcelona and Inter will do to them!
  8. Redknapp is pretty small time - but in that way he suits Spurs down to the ground.
  9. Hi General In terms of offering players new contracts and/or reviewing contract extensions please can you confirm whose responsibility at the club that is? A number of our rivals have signed important youngsters and key first team players on long term deals to maximise their re-sale value. How do we control this? Thanks for your efforts and good luck with the manager search. Cheers UTV
  10. Hi General Why do we allow our better players contracts to run down in such a way that we risk not getting a fee for them or a potentially reduced one? Surely it is the board's responsibility to safeguard the assets of the club and maximise their return. While many other of our rival clubs have quickly and with little fuss secured their top players on long term deals we seem to be weak in this area. Cheers for the updates by the way. Please don't get Sven - he won't be a popular choice with many! Guus Hiddink or Martin Jol please.
  11. Hi General It is a shocking state of affairs when our manager decides to leave days before the start of the season. It's been clear for months now that Milner was going to go - why oh why wasn't it clear a long time ago what portion of that fee O'Neill was going to get to reinvest? In terms of player contracts why aren't we smarter? Why do we let contracts get down to 2 years or less when we want to keep players? How did Milner's get down to 2 years without us doing something? Why does Young's have just 2 years to run?? Sounds a mess with no proper controls to me. In terms of the future: a) We need Stephen Ireland and he is a signing that will excite the fans We MUST not sell Ashley Young and in particular not to Spurs! It that ever happens I will be disgusted! c) Don't get Sven! It's time for some answers because the vast majority are feeling let down. So much for the 5 year plan
  12. An interesting comment from one of Spurs main transfer targets this pre-season http://fourfourtwo.com/news/england/60733/default.aspx "Blanc told me I shouldn't join a smaller club like Tottenham Hotspur"
  13. Milner - doubt it given his likely move - probably will be rested from his "injury"
  14. They've won 3 mickeymouse European trophies. No creme de la creme for Spurs. In the main 2 competitions one winner or runner up outside 1950 to 1963 in their entire history. The smaller honours you listed haven't made up for it. Cheers for your opinion though. 8)
  15. Should make it as the game should finish by 9.30 and you could always leave 5 minutes early if you were worried (by then hopefully we'll be 5-0 up anyway!) :winkold:
  16. Just as I said: Spurs 2 top flight league titles, no european cup and lot's of talk That's it 2 league titles and no European Cup but they are HUGE
  17. Come on guys get yourself down to Villa Park. There's a great deal on for this and the Euro tie. Sky plus the match as well! UTV!
  18. I used to be a big Fiorentina fan back in the days when Rui Costa was there! What a legend! As for Spurs 2 top flight league titles, no european cup and lot's of talk
  19. 1-1 second half! First half crap, second half much better. Let's get down to Villa Park for the Valencia match and support the lads!
  20. Downing doing better tonight!
  21. Just hit the post!!! This is awful!
