  1. anyone fancy a slice of keane flavoured humble pie *chomp*
  2. because Bannan isnt all that yep and Gardener looks better
  3. Keane used to run at defenders didn't he? At the moment he looks like a poor man's Stephen Ireland. Petrov, Gabby and Clark have been poor - Dunne has also been a liability. Albrighton and Gardener are the only players who can hold their heads high (ish) right now.
  4. i would be happy if we lost just so Eck would get sacked, but Lerner wouldn't have the **** balls to do shit!
  5. i am utterly sick of this defence, it is clueless. How can Eck and Lerner not realise that we need a new defence and that ultimately the fact we can't defend any set pieces is the reason we will go down.
  6. i'm pretty glad he signed, its funny Kyle Walker went from being incredibly a headless chicken when he first played for us to above average to good to England and Spurs regular in just over a year. From what Leed's fans have said Lichaj has been pretty good for them and from what i've seen for us he's not bad, definitely better than Hutton anyway!
  7. never seen anyone make those type of claims, Albrighton is an excellent prospect who has done really well for us, and deservers every bit of support from the fans. But he's the new Gabby, i.e. everyone lines up to criticise him and say what a brainless footballer he is who can only run fast, and then Gabby comes good and he's everyone's NO1 now. The negativity from fans is utterly staggering, Ash Young was only any good 1 match in 10, was average at crossing and was lousy at set pieces and yet people jism over his memory. Albrighton scores and sets up goals, he has raw talent in abundance and still has much to learn, but by all means start threads like this which make you sound like you want to date him! **** morons! So am i a moron for saying that i dont think he is as good as some people on here make him out to be? So is everyone who has a different view to others a moron? To call people morons just for having a point of view or not subscribing to the wholesale view on a player is pretty stupid mate. I agree he is raw, and yes i agree that he has talent in abundance, but at the moment he hasnt fulfilled it. Im sure he will and im not stupid enough to not take into account the fact that it is only his 2nd full season, but at the moment i dont think he is all 'that', and certainly nowhere near as good as some people make him out to be. And trust me, Albrighton's crossing was 100% referred to as 'as good as any in the league' and 100% the phrase 'Beckham-esque' was mentioned regarding his crossing ability. you're entilted to your opinion but at a time when all we have is negativity and bitching at the moment is a really necessry to slate a player who at the end of the day cares about Villa and all in all has been one of the better players over the last two years even if he isn't the finished article and unlikely to reach the heights some may have suggested he could. Better than average with a chance of being pretty good, is that a fair summary. and i wasnt cally you a moron specifically, just all those on the boards moaning and doom mongering, most Villa fans would go support another team if we were actually to become successful as they couldn't handle it!

  9. Bent was signed to be the striker we needed to get the goals when Carew and Heskey bombed out, and he got us the goals we needed and he will continue to do so if Ireland continues to play well, Zog continues to improve and Gabby gets his mojo back. If we sell another player after a season or less and not at a huge profit then what message are we sending out to the rest of the premiership? Most can accept losing players to Chelsea, Manure, Man City and Arsenal there are few teams in this country let alone the world that have their money and resources, but if we give in to pretenders like Liverpool who are living of past glories and aging idiots like King Kenny then we just become bottom feeding pond life scraping by and hoping to avoid relegation. If Bent gets sold for a big profit and we buy some decent players then maybe we can look forward, but if we end up with a load of rubbish loan signings and rejects then this club has lost the plot completely and i for one won't be part of this anymore.
  10. That performance was completely baffling, but we need to put this in context Swansea even managed to get something against Spurs. Our confidence and ethusiasm seem to be so fragile though and we lack quality all over the pitch, dropping Albrighton for Bent should not have back fired this badly, Warnock's **** up also shouldn't have meant the whole team lost its fight. But it was back to square one and back to our clueless negative best. words fail me. Our fwd line is really awful of late though, Gabby, Bent and Zog need shooting! I'm not sure i can blame this all on McCleish though, even if i want to!
  11. not sure why there is such a wave of Barry worship on her - Barry was never the best left back or the best CB, and it was only the last two or three seasons with us that he developed into the midfielder he is today (thanks to MON). Now not saying he isn't brilliant or wasn't brilliant, but he sure took his time reaching the level he is at now. so the moral of this story is, be patient with Clark and eat your greens or something like that.
  12. We never deserved to concede a goal when we did, but i feared the worse in the second half as we defended too deeply and Ireland looked lethargic, then the subs and suddenly we came back. Really pleased that Eck got everything right and Ireland played a blinder, thought Cuellar and Warnock had good games as well. I just hope Hutton, Delph and Heskey don't get anywhere near the side now we look a thousand times better without them involved!
  13. superb and just what we needed from him!
  14. One of the issues is we have some good youth players involved in the team and coming through but the issue is most teams with youth players shining have a team that don't need those youth players, i.e. in many cases using the younger players are a luxury they can afford to play from time to time, there is little pressure for those players to come in and instantly succeed and form that team's backbone. Teams like Arsenal, Manure, Chelsea etc have the quality in the team that can carry the naivety and inexperience of a youth player, or let them develop on loan at a lesser team in the same league (hmm like us). At present we are using youth players due to injury or because our experienced players are not performing and we put a hell of a lot of pressure on them and none of them get a run in the team. Herd and Delph have had the most games but there is nothing to suggest they will stay in the side and Delph has been dropped already, Bannan, Delf and Clark are utility players who 'fill in' none have the class to be automatic starters and none would walk into an other Prem side. We've not seen Gardener or Johnson yet or much of the next wave - but as far as i can see the last wave of youth players hasn't really shown anything to make me think they will be players that form the foundation of our future.
  15. yes sell him for a pittance, having someone with a bit of quality at Villa is the last thing we want, after all we've got cloggers such as Herd and Delph to help relegate us. Ireland may not come good, he may not deserve to wear a villa shirt, he be a total prong who doesn't appreciate the career he has and is a few songs short of a broadway musical....... but we are: a) Unlikely to bring any quality into the squad anytime soon Unlikely to find Gary Gardener, Bannan, Johnson or any other youth player is enough to rejuvinate our midfield and help keep us from relegation. Therefore clenching our teeth and putting blind faith and hope into one of the few players we have who is allegedly half decent - is all we have. Our squad is weak, aside from a 3 or 4 players we have a side that would struggle in the championship on current form and ability, i don't like McCleish but i am not convinced many managers could do much better with the mix of promising youth, ageing cloggers, overpaid idiots not delivering and championship quality players we have presently.
  16. I hardly think Peter Whittingham's fondness for Sherbert Dip-Dabs is comparable to this. Gary Gardener is partial to a cola cube so that is likely the reason he's not in the team presently. That and the fact sir gary cahill doesn't rate him.
  17. You mean Ethan Moore surely?
  18. King Kenny can go **** off! if after all the crap about Young, Downing , Milner, Barry etc we then sell another player we don't need to sell then what is the **** point. all this we need to cash in and are desperate for money is just horseshit - Randy may not be the full ticket but he's not going to take a loss on a player which in my opinion we didn't pay over the odds for - compared to fat thug carroll at 35mil, that makes Bent worth at least £60 mil as he scores goals even Torres doesn't manage that. where will the goals come from if we sell Bent? Gabby has been excellent but he's not a prolific goal scorer, so Delf, Heskey and Weiman?? Yeah right..........
  19. i'm bored of all the negative crap about Ireland he is one of the few players we have with a bit of quality and has done nothing wrong this season, he needs to get a run in the team to prove his doubters wrong but McCleish is afraid of being to creative so it may never happen. if you read the boards you'd be hard pressed to find a Villa player anyone does actually like, so many used to brand Gabby 'not good enough' now he's our best player. I love this club, but there are two many fans who are totally delusional with unrealistic expectations, not saying its not realistic for us to do better than we are now and have a better manager than McCleish. But we no longer have the squad or the budget to be anymore than a team that finishes 10th or lower. Gary Gardener and other youth players aren't going to change that either and we are not in transition we are just doomed to be average for many years to come unless Randy sells us.
  20. Anyone know why Bent didn't play and how far away Herd is from returning? As clearly we can't believe a word anyone at the club **** says re-fitness - we've currently got Kim Yong Il's propaghanda machine on loan at the club. Reporter: Is Bent fit for Chelsea? McCleish: Absolutely, and we're expecting Collymore and Yorke to make a comeback, Heskey is so good he has to try and play down how good he is so he can carry on playing otherwise the FA would bar him from playing for giving us an unfair advantage - so he pretends to be shite, and Hutton is a respected international who almost moved to Barcelona before he decided he'd prefer life at Villa.
  21. Stoke dont have to play anti-football they have plenty of flair players and were the home team for gods sake yet.......they were utter toilet. We weren't much better though. People cry out of us to not concede from set pieces and look more solid and i can't really criticise that performance from the players. What angers me is McCleish must have realised how poor Stoke were playing and could have brought Ireland or Bannan on to go on win the game - but was still crapping his little knickers about losing. Will Nzogbia ever score or get a shot on target? I just hope that McCleish goes for broke against Chelsea and doesn't serve up a crock of anti-football of our own, hmmm no Heskey but i'm sure Hutton's return (the McCleish golden boy) will help us serve up something awful.
