    Even if you included the unsignable ones there aren't that many that are a clear upgrade. That isn't because I rate them so highly but because there is a dearth of top strikers in football now.

    Terrible idea for the signal it sends out to youth players we want to sign and 'stepping stone' players we want to sign. To clarify a stepping stone player is someone who is presumed to just get better and better who has their career planned out to moving to a truly elite club. Like Haaland for example.

    I think it’s likely he will be sold for peanuts this window unless the club think there is any hope of him signing a contract which I am at least 90% sure he won’t. it serves the player no purpose to stay without signing as everyone is going to be in front of him for minutes for obvious reasons. it serves the club no purpose as they have to pay him, they don’t want to look like they are being punitive to future youth signings as well

    It’s off topic but I have always thought there should be a loophole in it where the owners put excess they want to spend into a bond which is drawn down. that allows more money in football and doesn’t put a clubs future in jeopardy

    The way I see it if Luiz goes then we get a midfielder. If he doesn't but Sanson and Chukwumeka goes we get a midfielder.

    Luiz has been offered a deal, I think even if we manage to move Sanson on that it will require a second to go before a player is signed.

    I still think another player will come in. I think a lot depends on outgoings, I don't think we will sign a central midfielder now if Luiz doesn't go.

    I have nothing to base my feeling he could play there other than his attributes. We have to do something with him, he is a very effective player when played right.
