  1. theres a set price barcelona can buy him back for during any of the transfer periods during the next 3 years only, also a first option to match any transfer bid that villa accept for him but thats only if villa would sell. the buy back clause doesn't really worry me, 3 years isn't long and he's only 19, surely they wouldn't let him go if he would be significantly better in 3 years. and I'm glad about the second clause, rather he went back to barca than a fellow prem team
  2. Ochoa would be a really good signing, and if we are looking at malaga how about Roberto Rosales for right back?
  3. maybe man u are just too big a team for johnny evans, perhaps he would flourish at us, where he'd be one of the more experienced players in the dressing room. still not sure i see the logic in giving baker a new deal, a new cb will push him down the pecking order further and he's already behind; clark, okore, richards, a fit senderos. if it came to a situation where those four and a new cb where unavailable, crespo or donacien would fill in
  4. so we've apparently bid for a man u player, not young, sky reporting rafael may leave, would you take him? think we would need a better centre half to cope with having 2 such attacking full backs
  5. Like Adebayor? I can see the benefit of bringing in an experienced, quality centre-back, even if he has no sell-on value. Lescott and Richards at the back is better than any pairing we can currently out together, and would give us some needed stability in a very attacking team. experience doesn't mean 30+ years, you'd say veretout is experienced, over 140 league games and only 22, just saying for such an important position id rather have someone who'd be a stable leader in the team for years to come
  6. lescott makes little sense, every other signing we have made have all been given at least 3 year deals, many have been given 5 years. I'm quite sure sherwood won't be after lescott for 1 season, he will be looking at someone who will be here long term
  7. "he's coming home, he's coming home", kyle walker? trippier likely to be first choice at spurs
  8. i must have it wrong then, only seen him play a few times to be fair
  9. just think crespo is similar to baker in that he's a centre back that can cover a full back if needed; left for baker, right for crespo. and with ayew being able to play wide or through the middle and veretout and gueye playing any role in the midfield looks like sherwood has gone for players with the ability to play multiple positions and formations http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jose-angel-crespo/profil/spieler/37397 maybe you're right, just doesn't really look like a right back, 6ft tall, not a huge amount of pace. and with sherwood playing amavi who is such a strong attacking player, crespo is just the complete opposite
  10. just think crespo is similar to baker in that he's a centre back that can cover a full back if needed; left for baker, right for crespo. and with ayew being able to play wide or through the middle and veretout and gueye playing any role in the midfield looks like sherwood has gone for players with the ability to play multiple positions and formations
  11. goalkeeper and right back for the first team and cover for centre half = job done
  12. makes no sense to offer nantes more money if they've accepted a villa bid..., he will be holding up a villa shirt leaning on a goalpost by tomorrow night
  13. http://www.ouest-france.fr/fc-nantes-jordan-veretout-choisi-aston-villa-3588087 Woah woah woah, who's this Mendy fella we've supposedly signed from Nice? Nampalys mendy, plays for Nice and was gueye's midfield partner, journalists got a bit confused
  14. striker, right back, goal-keeper. add veretout(maybe?,hopefully)for around £7million and we still have £8million of benteke/delph money left, sell n'zog, baker and a few more duds and we could be looking at a decent villa side for next season
  15. right now the people wanting adebayor will be the same people celebrating when he runs out his contract, in a similar way to when he played for city and spurs, in a bobo balde-esque manner and his astronomical wages are off the villa books. saying he should be brought in to mentor anyone is the most ridiculous idea i think I've ever heard since offering a minuscule release clause to one of your top players
  16. just a though if we do indeed sell benteke, id rather a foreign club but suppose man u > liverpool. anyway, as we have been linked with a move for dennis praet of anderlecht i would love to see a double deal for mitrovic swell, although the young serb striker has been linked heavily with a move to newcastle
  17. with villa being sold, and with that announcement of an exclusive negotiations bid coming yesterday, with this sponsorship being released by the club today, maybe we should take a look at who owns intuit quickbooks. Wishful thinking, coincidence or maybe more. this would probably also mean the sponsorship deal is better than we think, example man city with etihad as the owner also sponsors the club, gets us round the financial fair play rules also
  18. are we officially advertised to players as a club you go to for a year, play rather poorly for most if not all of time spent at villa, then get a deal from a better premier league yet??
  19. Lustig is a calamity, you think you've seen shocking defending watching villa, my goodness. unfortunately matthews has been injured quite a bit over the past couple seasons, 2 years ago celtic had quality full backs with him and izaguire but injuries have hindered both I'm afraid
  20. wait so a championship clubs fans will be disappointed to see one of their better players leave for a premiership club, shock horror...
  21. just want a transfer window that leaves me excited for the season to come instead of annoyed and frustrated at our dealings
  22. so premier league season is over, if reports are to be believed we shall be looking for a new left back (again...). Hull have been relegated, andy robertson plays for Hull, id take him in a heartbeat
  23. the final that was last night???, and the design doesn't really lend itself to a claret body with blue sleeves, unless its used for an away kit, with the main colour being white and the details being claret
  24. tristram hunt shouldn't be selected for his name alone, if he wants to connect with the working class in northern england and the whole of scotland surely he'll have to change it!!!
  25. So why did you all vote for a party whose policies were less anti-austerity than Labour and will blindly lead you out of Europe like the Pied Pier if you get independence? Another shining example of how the people believe a message but don't look at the actual substantive policy. Scottish independence is a ridiculous notion. Wanting independence and being a part of the EU? How does that square itself, even if they'd let you join, which they won't. If the Scottish are more left wing than the English they should have voted Labour If the Scottish are pro-European independence is an utter nonsense. Sorry but the SNP sold you all a pup or we could be led out of europe by the conservatives and ukip nutters via the english vote. it all depends on the terms of the eu referendum, if all countries need to agree to leave then scotland and northern ireland certainly will vote to remain part of the european union, but if we are dragged out because england votes to leave with the greater population size, it'll be mandate for another scottish referendum. why would europe not let in the 14th most prosperous country in the world?, as a whole the uk is 18th by the way I think you are right that a national vote to exit the EU might lead to another referendum in Scotland - and fair enough if the majority there had voted to stay in. However following the oil price crash the new economic reality facing an iScotland creates a gap (actually a chasm) between what you'd want to do (welfare, health service provision, free education etc) and what is financially possible. I just wonder how the Nats would react if the financially savvy majority in Scotland rejected independence for a second time? Would the SNP risk an outcome that effectively torpedoes their core reason for being? Ironically an EU exit followed by a Scottish Indy referendum might actually create a viable route back to relevance for Scottish Labour, campaigning for the Union as a National Socialist Party*. I think we still have far more in common than the Nats on both sides of the border care to acknowledge. *I know "Nazis" etc etc, I'm sure you understand what I'm actually suggesting. perhaps by being 'financially savvy' and not wasting money on trident, the house of 'lords' of hs2. i think you are right though if we have another referendum and the results are similar to that of the last one, perhaps independence will not be achieved while i am young enough to enjoy it, maybe not in my lifetime at all. and yeah a separate party in scotland with the same values as the labour party, while wanting to maintain a union with the rest of the uk is the only way they can succeed in scotland. a lot of work required but for only a possible 59 seats, labour losing this election by over 100 to the tories shows its not just in scotland they have a tough task to regain votes
