  1. That Brighton penalty should have been retaken. If they had gotten the lines out, I'm sure they would have seen that multiple players had body parts that could play the ball that were encroaching inside the box.

Yes, I know it didn't affect the outcome of the penalty at all, but if rules are going to be rules then the lines should have come out!

  2. I think it's because yellows can't be given for VAR decisions. If that's indeed the rule then I doubt we will see many yellows given for diving anymore, since they can't be given "retrospectively", and the ref won't give a yellow for simulation only to be potentially red-faced after VAR shows it's actually a pen.

  3. Warning: this post is full of lines that can be quoted with Kenneth Williams gifs.

The reason Jack gets fouled so much is because of how good his ball control is. He is so skilled with the ball that he constantly keeps it at such a short distance between himself and the defender. I don’t think he goes down easily to win the free kick. There are many times he has every right to go down but stays on his feet because he sees the advantage if he stays on his feet. It’s not like he’s going down without any contact, but if there’s no advantage for him to stay on his feet then he won’t because the ref won’t give the foul if he doesn’t go down.

Anyways, why are we talking like he’s Tom Daley? Yes, the reaction was slightly delayed, but he did get clearly raked across the knee studs up. Imagine how Bruno Fernandes would have reacted to that, or to Haller’s stomp on Mings.

Am I seeing this right? A leeds fan posting videos of Jack Grealish "diving" after actual contact?

O really? Does Bamford getting El Ghazi sent off by diving come to mind at all? Short memory, perhaps?

Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Or the Ayling dive vs Leicester? Or Samuel Saiz vs Hull? Or Adryan vs Derby?

Maybe they are just pointing out how "pathetic" his "dive" was compared Leeds players' Oscar-winning ability.

  5. Absolute spot on from Jamie Carragher. Surprised I could understand him, but he was just going on about how Watkins was only offside because (1) his shirt sleeve is longer and (2) Ogbonna was grappling him so he was using his arms to get free. So, offside because of kit manufacturer and being fouled.

  6. When something that is brought in causes more controversy than what it was supposed to replace, there are clearly serious issues.

When players, managers, commentators, journalists, every major media handle, etc., are taking the piss out of it, there are clearly serious issues.

Course of action by those in charge: draw more lines on the screen. FFS.

I liked the rule we used to have in Sweden where in every offside situation that was too close to call the ref should give the advantage to the attacker. We want to see goals, these micrometre offsides found by using iffy drawn lines are sapping the joy out of the game. For me at least.

Should add I've not seen this latest one in the Plop game.

Unless it's some sort of optical illusion, is VAR seriously saying that the inside of a perfectly balanced, upright defender's right foot is outside his left shoulder???

Lost my FF draft match by one point because I bought him in for this game.  That booking was terrible.

    He's dead to me.

I lost by 1 point because I captained Jack...I win by 1 point if he doesn't get a yellow 🤦‍♂️

Potter and Smith summed it up perfectly at the end when they said they dont know what a penalty is anymore. That is 2 intelligent top flight managers who dont know whats going on. If that doesnt tell you its a farce then nothing will

Anyways, herein lies the problem...when smart managers and commentators (i.e., the ones who are supposed to intelligent with respect to the rules of the game) are constantly saying they don't understand anymore, there's a clear issue that needs to be addressed.

  10. To be fair, other than the shout yesterday and the one given a few weeks back, I can't recall many other strong claims we might have had. And, despite the comments of many supporters from other clubs (e.g., have a look at the comment section on the BBC write-up from our game yesterday), we aren't a dirty team. If we (hypothetically only!!) had a Bamford or a Bruno or a Maupay and still weren't getting any pens, then maybe there would be something there. And no, you don't need to remind me about Bruno stamping on Konsa to win a penalty...
