  1. VillaTalk won't host your image. We have no way to validate all posted images to ensure you have the rights to make a copy. Sorry. No worries, thanks for the reply.
  2. Another 4am game for me, another game I missed, another decent result. I need to stop watching games it would seem Highlights - 00:53 - English - 576p Match of the Day - Full (Midweek) - 720p ^ Video is split into two parts. Villa start at the 35 minute mark in the second part.
  3. I'm an hour in front of you, and only missed my first Villa game of the season the other week when we played Southampton on the Monday. I keep toying with the idea of staying up late to watch this, but I just don't know if I have the drive to go to bed as the sun is coming up... if we lose, or simply draw after playing shit
  4. Yesterday I took a screenshot on my laptop, which copied to my clipboard. I figured I could just paste the image directly into the reply box, it did appear but when I hit the post button I got a notice popup saying the feature was disabled on this board. Any particular reason why? I ended up saving the screenshot locally, and then uploading it, but it was an extra step I didn't want to do
  5. Oh look Leicester are in dire form No worries Nigel you play villa soon Why dont you put up an away form table Chewie, we are 10th in that? Last 12 matches, 16th and thats the only table that matters. I could pull out a 100 tables to fit an agenda if i wanted. First off, I have no agenda (as you so eloquently put it). I was tinkering with my Fantasy Football team and came across this table, I thought other Villa fans would be interested in visualising where we stand in form. Which brings me onto the word form, "a particular way in which a thing exists or appears". When used in football, people don't tend to preface the word 'form' with 'recent', but recent form is heavily implied. As such, I think ordering the table by form (last 6 games) both home and away gives the fairest view on how we have been performing recently in the league. If you know of a better methodology then I'd be interested to see it. In fairness to Chewie ever since I can remember, and I am 40 now, then the current form table has always been taken over the last 6 games and is very often used by numerous media outlets. Yeah, thanks. I can only use the data which is available. Oh look Leicester are in dire form No worries Nigel you play villa soon Why dont you put up an away form table Chewie, we are 10th in that? Last 12 matches, 16th and thats the only table that matters. I could pull out a 100 tables to fit an agenda if i wanted. What have I even read. So because he's posted an overall form table, you know because points from home and away games count, instead of just the away games (because that would obviously paint a more balanced picture) he has an agenda? Says more about your "agenda" that you've taken issue with it imo. Pretty much summed up what I am trying to put across, cheers.
  6. I didn't really know where else to put this, so i'll stick it here. Most people are aware of our form, but if you actually look at the overall form table, it makes for pretty grim viewing. I still say that we need to see how the next few games go, and wait to see what happens once we have our key players back, but it very well could be too late by then :/ Premier League Form Guide
  7. Another 3pm game, another game that was hardly televised anywhere in the world to capture a decent stream. So no full match video for this one lads, and only very limited highlights I'm afraid. Highlights - 01:50 - English - 576p Match of the Day - Full (Saturday) - 720p Proper (Downloadable)
  8. I voted Cole, Good, Average. Looked exciting in the first half, like a new lease of life has been put into us. A bit shakey at the start of the second, then solid for 20 mins. Once the clock hit 80+, everyone knew something bad was going to happen (this is Villa after all), and it did. Last 5 minutes was just nail biting. Can't say much more than that. Hopefully, we can start the next few games like we did this game, maintain some composure throughout the match, and have Benteke back in the side to knock in a goal or two to finish off the games. Overall, a lot better than we have seen recently, just a shit final 10 mins as usual.
  9. 8/1 the 0-0 I left Villa out of my weekend accumulator (as always), so just stuck a fiver on this at 7/1 on Bet365. Cheers for the heads up
  10. Lambert's pre match interview for anyone that is interested... He seems relatively upbeat about the game. Let's see how he feels after :/
  11. I'm going for a boring 0-0 draw for this one. No real reason, just my gut feeling. Although I thought Saints would beat us 1-4 on Monday, so what to do I know?
  12. I didn't bother staying up until 4am to watch or capture this, and there isn't much out on the net in terms of highlights. Highlights - 01:57 - English - 576p Highlights - 05:07 - Russian - 576p
  13. Pelle to score any time and Southampton to Win 0-4 is 35/1. I stuck a fiver on which I'll be happy to lose if Villa manage a win :/
  14. I never knew Walder Frey was a Villa fan. It should have been called the Claret and Blue Wedding
  15. Slim pickings for this one lads. Highlights - 02:00 - Russian - 720p Match of the Day (Full) - 720p Proper
  16. Not a bad game for us (I thought), the end result wasn't the best, however. Highlights - English - 11:26 (720p recorded) Highlights - Russian - 03:05 (SD) --- Full Match - 1st Half - English - 720p (Recorded) Full Match - 2nd Half - English - 720p (Recorded) --- Match of the Day (Sat) - 720p (Proper)
  17. 1) I thought we started well today but after the goal we slipped into our usual habit of sitting back and letting the other team back into it. You could argue that this is because we're low on confidence, but as it happens fairly regularly and I can only assume this is what the manager asks of the players 2) take on board Benteke hitting the post but how many times did we create quality chances? Most of our chances never seem clear cut, almost as if the ball bounces favourably. You could argue it's down to quality but if we miss a decent chance like Benteke's I usually think "That's our best chance gone" it's defeatist but fairly realistic on what we've put up with for too long. Which brings me onto..... 3) He's got to go for me. I'm not going to reel off the records he's set and the cup exits we've had as everyone knows. Quite simply Paul Lambert is not good enough to manage in the Premier League. The stats back this up and I have had enough of his excuses and too many dire performances to mention. Time is up Paul. Time for you to pick yourself up and go again. Just not with Aston Villa My apologies for the short reply, benirdek, it's late where I am and I need to get to bed. Your points are very much valid, and I find myself agreeing with what you are saying. That being said. I still think that today's outcome had an air of us doing 'something' (mostly) positive. And as per my previous posts, I personally felt that we ultimately lost the game due to the ref. Not because he made a single bad decision, but because he made many poor ones.
  18. I think you missed most aspects of my post donnie. Especially since the part I quoted above had some of my insight in the original post. Maybe I should have worded myself better, I'll admit that.
  19. Sorry, I didn't realise the ref was responsible for ensuring they don't lose their head. How about the players control themselves. Do you not think that the Ref has an influence on how players react by judging his decisions? Edit: I'll just add that my 'argument' about the ref applies to under 8's Sunday league, Pub football, League Football, and unfortunately Premier League football. Of course, but the place the blame on the ref is unfair IMO. His jobs pretty difficult as it is, without being solely responsible for the players behaviour, which is what your posts suggest. Yeah fair enough, I may have not worded my post in the best way. I agree with you the ref isn't to blame, per se. But I also feel that he had an impact in the way the game went by not controlling it at an early stage.

  21. I'll reply to your points in a 3 part 'bullet' point, not to be condescend in sort of way (that can sometimes come across on the internet), but because faffing around with the coding system to split your reply is a pain in the ass. 1) Yes, I agree that luck is made by oneself, but do you not think we made a decent amount of luck today? But were just somewhat unlucky? If we had been on a run of 5 wins against the top clubs and then lost today, would you feel that 'unlucky' would be the wrong term for the result? 2) I know getting into stats is never an argument that anyone wins. But in the case of today's game, we hit the bar and came close a couple of times. The fact that Tekkers hit the post and it's counted as 'not on target' doesn't mean that we haven't got goal opportunities more than we have for, what, 5 games? 3) I'm completely on the fence about Lambert, I'm neither for, nor against. That being said, can we really attribute today's loss as being down to him? I don't mean to argue with you, but the gist of my original post was that I think the Ref had a massive part to play in the result, and I don't think Villa did too much wrong.
  22. Many people commenting about it being our worst run in 47 years. Many people posting in the "Lambert - Out" thread, and also looking for our next manager. I'm not going to get into the parts of that because the bottom line is that we played well today. We lost 2-1 after going ahead, having multiple close chances (not just creating them), and then losing to a deflection from a pretty poor free kick (Guzan was already across the net before it hit Bakers(?) head). What I will talk about is the ref, as I voted him poor. Sometimes there is a decision in the game by the ref where it changes everything. A stupid free kick decision, or a peno that never was. This was not the case today. The ref was poor from start to finish, he failed to control the game, he failed to calm the players down after a fiery 10/20 mins. His fourth official rightly indicated that Benteke should be sent off (read the rules if you disagree with this), but then failed to ALSO follow up on the rules for a 'headbutt' by Mason into Tekkers face. The ref should have had the game under grips early on but he let it spiral out of control multiple times, and that cost us. Did it cost us just because the ref made the wrong decisions? No. It cost us because he let all the players on the pitch lose their heads, and ultimately, and in my opinion, that was directly responsible for the end result. Should Premier League players be able to deal with this, and keep an deserved 1-0 lead? Yes. But this is an instance where this didn't happen. We lost through bad luck, extremely poor refereeing, and a lucky deflection at the last minute. Saying all the above, when Spurs went 1-1, I stuck an inplay bet for them to win 2-1. Was only a fiver on at 3/1, shoulda done it for 5 grand
  23. In my opinion there is no chance that Moyes would 'drop down' to manage the likes of Villa after the UTD gig. Would anyone take Nigel Pearson from Leicester? Granted they have money, but they didn't spend too much in the summer and they always play with a certain hunger which is sorely lacking at Villa. It seems to me that he could ignite some fire in the bellies of our players, especially when we go 1-0 down after 10 minutes.
  24. I'm not sure that many of you are going to want to watch this, but the first half was relatively good :/ Highlights - 01:45 - English - HQ Highlights - 02:45- Russian - 720p (Recorded) --- Full Match - 1st Half - German - 720p (Proper) Full Match - 2nd Half - German - 720p (Proper)
