  1. Berger was in jured in the pre-match warm-ip according to MON. He was going to have been on the bench. Walking sicknote if you ask me, who you'll be lucky to get 6 or 7 games out of per season. Having said that, Scarewood (and MON) cost us the game. Wasn't heppy when we signed him as i think he's sh*t. Strangely, he hasn't changed my mind. this sort of result adds to the pressure on the home gomes when there's no need for it to. we could have gone into the West Ham game on the crest of a wave high up the table. Now we play the game midtable and needing a win more badly. It just adds pressure. Hopefully Maloney will be fot for that game and can replace scarewood on the bench.

split personality maybe like Ali Larter in Heroes?

excellent analaysis there Ali. that means i don't have to respond to MMfy now, as you've done it for me.

i would completely disagree that MON is a low profile manager. Allegedly, one of the reasons he didn't get the england job is that he was too forthright with his opinions. if you want low profile, look for the likes of McClown or Curbishley. MON is not IMO low profile.

spot on Ali. proved he can do it both domestically and in europe. with money and without. a class manager. MON is a very good manager but does not have the track record of a mourinho as yet. MON needs to prove himself capable at the top level in a competetive domestic league like the premiership for starters. Let's hope he proves that with us.

what a lot of uninformed rubbish this seems to be. can you back any of these statements up? Not quite a one man team, but close? please expand? you think Chelsea were a one man team and that CM was that man? why are you ignoring his porto record too? :?

i would be happy. very happy. i think moaninho is a great manager, with or without money, as he proved at both porto & chelsea. i like MON a lot too, but JM's achievements speak for themsleves. great entertainer too, a bit like JG. Mind you, so is MON.
  8. that bird has already flown mate! :winkold: : good to see he's now fully recovered from his kidnapping ordeal Pete! :winkold: That Michael Johnson's not a bad player for Citeh either.

  10. at a guess Pete, i'd say that MON sees the non-specialist options of Ollie and TINA as improvements over what was served up to us by Hughes, and so didn't have any problem with selling him to Fulham. I'd agree with him TBH. I just thought Hughes was very poor. as to the rest of the window - largely satisfied. MON knows what he is doing IMO, and the only signing i have really questioned is that of the Hare.
  11. indeed. That was the last time i went too - villa v evernot reverses at the bescot - must be about 4 or 5 years ago now. It was the start of GT MK II's tenure. Cooke was superb - always was for the reserves - constant threat. The 2 Moore's & crouchy played. Davis played & was superb - he looked like he would make the grade. Ridger played too but i was less impressed. Of all those that played that match - only Sir Luke of Moore is still at the club!

    How-Zat Roman?

I agree "wiv" you 2007. i thought Stan did well when he came on - one sloppy pass aside, he looked composed and controlled and added a bit of calm to proceedings when we needed it. This was not Super Mart's best game for us either - but the was up against the likes of Droggers and SWP so understandable - coped admirably i thought - and not many do that against Droggers.

    How-Zat Roman?

for me he'd get an 8 max Bri. Yes - i agree he played quite well. But i did see him got "done" once or twice which is no shame given it was the likes of SWP & Droggers. But he could also easily have given away a penalty. I thought NRC was our MOTM. He was awesome.
  14. Yay! I'm the only person on the internet without an opinion. how cool.
  15. Zak? :? you've been watching too much emmerdale Dem! :winkold:
  16. who? Sven? :? he's been laughed at by some small minded people, yes. Certainly not by all. where did you get this impression from tarj?
  17. Sven Goran Erickson did, or at least said he had the potential to be.
  18. agreed Trickie. Couldn't help but chuckle though :winkold: TBH i think we're in for a fair bit if this over the coming days.
  19. i'm pleased to say i din't contribute to this slagging of knight at the time. I actaully think he's a decent player. this is a highly amusing thread though.
  20. we've had no "summer" 3PO = we've had no sun/decemt weather. which is a lie. We've had at least 2 days of decent weather this "summer" :winkold:
  21. Carson just signed a new contract at Liverpool until july 2011 a few months back you sure about this? All the papers are reporting he's in his final 2 years. :? If you are correct, kind of blows my theory out of the window! still, can't see him being at Liverpool as No. 2 next season, long contract or not. He'll just cost a bit more, t'is all. EDIT: you are correct - just checked and he penned a 5 year deal in 2006. Eeejut! can't see him going anywhere now unless it's VERY big money in the summer. Ah well. at least we have very big money :winkold:
  22. should be interesting to see how we line up in this one. Barry has been playing central mid and for me it's his best position. so we could see a kind of hybrid 4-3-3 type formation. or even a kind of 4-1-2-3 thype thing with NRC anchoring the back 4. However, i think it'll be more fluid than that, as NRC has a good engine on him and will get forward and back regularly. It'll be interesting to see if Ash is consigned to a certain wing or not, of if he just "roams". I'll also be unhappy if harewood comes off the bench before Moore to replace JC who will not last the 90 minutes.
  23. because the Loan - Arranger always get's his man? Jesus wept Drat! another Ian classic. he's got a book of corny puns somewhere, i'm sure of it :winkold: but in answer, yes. I think the loan - arranger will get his man at the end of the season if not sooner. That's why he paid a sizeable loan fee IMO. At the end of this season SC will have less than 1 year left on his contract, so his price comes down somewhat. So in some respects the £2.5m could be seen as downpayment on the player. Lob in another £6m or so at season end and you get your man IMO. The only slight problem in all of this is that "others" might come sniffing around too, pushing the price up.
  24. agreed. Top keeper IMO. a good signing, and one which i feel may well be for longer than 10 months if things pan out as MON minght expect .... astute bussiness IMO, even given the large-ish loan fee. It's large for 2 reasons IMO .....
