  1. greAT, report, Pete. from what i saw, these, marks look, spot, on. we're becoming, one hell, of, a team, these days, with some, great individual, performances, too. I, also, thought, Ozzy, was, excellent, when, he, came on. A real find, this, kid. Great, engine, box to, box, a bit Taylor-esque almost. Love, the, commas, too,
  2. the Green Cross Code Man? :winkold:
  3. what, like when Major replaced Mrs T? Where was the GE then? There does not have to be a GE after a change of PM/leader Nick. You know that. There is nothing in the UK constitution that necessitates that. Could you explain therefore why there WILL be a GE in the next 12 months, as you won't find much support or evidence for that view, IMO.
  4. hey? :? there is no looming GE in this country. Not for the best part of 2 years, anyway. Do you know something we don't? If the independant BofE were to lower IR as a GE sweetener, i doubt they'd be doing it now.
  5. Not for the next 2 years, anyway! :winkold:
  6. what do you base that on, though, Nick? I mean, interest rates rose in this country for 3 years up to the end of 2007, and in the last few months have actually been cut twice. So they are coming down, albeit only slowly and by small amounts.
  7. where's this boom and bust evident? :? where are these high interest rates? :? apart from that, excellent post.
  8. I agree. Its a great time to invest in property and thats exactly what I'm doing. kinda agree trent. I've just bought an apartment (complete next weekend), and have managed to hold onto my existing one for the time being as it's not the right time to sell. It's a stretch, but for the moment i'm an owner of 2 properties, and have managed to get tenants into the one i've just left. Prices in my area have dropped quite a bit these last 6 months, so around here it is defeintely not the right time to sell, but is possibly the right time to buy. Depends if you think prices will continue to fall off, or just level out or recover. I don't think for hereonin we are going to see big price drops. I'd have my money on more of a leveling off, followed medium term by a slight recovery. I think the market is still trying to find a new equilibrium.

    Alcohol

eh? :? you've got me here tone. Petrol is usaully more of a necessity than a luxury. People need petrol to get from A to B, to get tow rok, to the supermarket, to deliver goods to factories etc, etc. The luxury petrol spend i'd guess is a very small part of the petrol market. Alcy-hol, on the other hand, is a want, not a need (unless you are an actaul alocholic, which is weher the line is more blurred), and so this is not, IMO, a valid comparsion. Putting the cost of alcohol up would probably mean i would buy a little less, which would be no bad thing, but i think they are talkimg about the cheap end of the market here anyway, the special offers and the ludicrously cheap "lighter fuel" type ciders & beers, so this wouldn't affect your "standard/adult" drinker too much, if at all.
  12. might do for someone who's had both arms amputated :winkold:

why are you confused about your age, Ali? too many long hours at the hospital? :winkold:
  19. Inflation figures up to 2.2%, figures just released say. I think there won't be further interest rate cuts for a few months now, as the BofE will need to keep this in check ....
  20. Buy my flat, please!* *This does not constitute financial advice and should not be taken as such. Jon urges you to obtain professional advice before proceeding with any investment, unless you want to buy my flat. Then, IMHO, the time is exactly right to do so ......
  21. agree with all of your post Pete, apart from this last bit, although i understand where you're coming from with it. I think MON uses the "small squad" line/argument in an attempt to bring unity/close-knit-ness/bonding/sense of purpose/team spirit within his "small squad". Bonds the lads together, kind of thing. Mourinho used it, to a large degree, in his constant portrayal of "everyone is against us/hates is/doesn't want us to win/especially the refs/the FA. We will show them, as we are stronger than that. Hence people on this board started calling him Moaninho. And IMO to a mlarge degree it brought about the squad unity/sense of purpose that he was looking for. MON is , IMO, using a similar approach with his "small squad" thing. Trying to use it to bond the team together and use it to his advantage. "we've got the smallest squad in the league, but we will show the others what we are really made of" type thing. That, and the fact that we Do have a thin squad, is why we keep hearing about it, not just from MON but the media in general. I honestly don't think it's ever been used an an excuse for dropping points this season, by MON anyway, yet .....
  22. F1 cars instead of horses maybe? :winkold:
  23. alternatively ...... MON stopped at 2 different petorl stations along the way, and refuelled with both premium juice and standard juice, just in case that the amount he knew he had in the car proved to be insufficient, although he thought it was really enough. Better to be safe than sorry he thouhgt, and filled to the brim with both quality fuel and standard fuel. BUT: the new fuel didn't seem to work so well in his car, and he'd lost time getting to his destination. The car was heaver, was weighed down by the new fuel, and kept spluttering. It was just far slower than before. It almost stopped completely. The mix wasn't right, and he had wasted time and money and upset the running of his car. MON then vowed to have more faith in his original belief that he had plenty of fuel to complete the full journey without any need for panic stops along the way. How's that?
