  1. Really? His distribution is terrible. He must have turned over the ball 15 times over the 90 mins... Westwood might not be a match winner but at least he keeps it tidy on the ball...
  2. Agreed, very tidy when under pressure, and pushed on amongst the forwards once or twice. Hopefully he gets a start over Gana soon...
  3. So that's an excuse to be pricks then?
  4. Because it would appear he cannot motivate players to play for him? Because we have not improved at all since he arrived? Because he hasn't won yet? A combination of all 3, would be my guess as to why people think he would be a failure **** well isn't that symptomatic of society these days. He can't turn around 5 years of car crash in 9 weeks so he must be shit. Ok mate...
  5. And? That's no reflection on how successful or not he would be with us You still haven't answered why you think he'll be a failure, I'm curious to know
  6. I posted an article about his time at Lyon a few pages back, well worth the read
  7. What in particular makes him right? Not a great deal to say one way or the other in my opinion. About his CV? As I've already explained in this thread, the fact that he ran one of the world's most respected youth academies, then managed the same club for 3 years with an emphasis on blooding young players, into the Champions League, and you could somewhat realistically say "his team" should have won Ligue 1 last season, after he left.
  8. What in particular about his CV makes him the wrong man Richard?
  9. I dealt with things okay when I had my daughter, I wasn't on 25k+ per week either, and I had to work 40 hours per week. I refuse to give any kudos to him for that. My hero
  10. Not to mention dealing with a newborn baby at 22... respect!
  11. Yeh I know, I wanted the rest of the article though
  12. Anyone got a l'Equipe subscription? http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Article/Veretout-je-ne-comprends-pas-tout/622393
  13. Looks like an absolute unit, in the Kompany mould https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4aN1ILbJOE

I'm not sure what your point is. As I said previously, data and video scouting are here to stay, we can either choose to be clever and utilise it well like some of the smaller clubs punching above their weight on smaller budgets (Hoffenheim, Udinese, Ajax etc) or stick with our tried and tested system of 60k pw 5 year contracts for NZogbia, Bent, Hutton etc

You often need to wait for swelling to subside before X-rays reveal anything useful.
  16. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3388732/Borussia-Dortmund-tempted-60m-bid-Arsenal-target-Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang-not-want-sell.html I notice he was in the same Grongingen team as Bacuna for a few years...
  17. Is there a place on VT where all these pledges are kept track of?

It must be great living permanently in the 1980s You think the Southhamptons, Leicesters, Malagas, Udineses, Hoffenheims etc of the world are keeping it old school and relying on scouting everything in person? Wake up

I assume we're utilising this by all the slagging off over "data" he's getting in the media: http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11096/10120950/wyscout-the-scouting-platform-used-by-arsenal-manchester-united-and-others

Could be a blessing in disguise, in the same way that Amavi's ACL means be won't be moving clubs in the summer.... 8-10 weeks probably won't be long enough though

    Tom Fox

Could not have put it better myself
  22. IMHO, zero. His pedigree of running the academy at then managing Lyon positions him as a much better long term solution for the club than grafters like Pearson, Pulis, McCarthy or whoever is being mentioned atm Realistically though, I think he just needs to demonstrate *some* improvement between now and the end of the season.
  23. To be fair, the Fox interview was from about 5 weeks ago (was posted in this thread), when we weren't quite yet at meltdown stage, which Murphy neglected to mention (prick)
  24. His record when playing centre forward is actually pretty good (1 every 2 games) according to this: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/claudio-beauvue/leistungsdaten/spieler/58818/plus/0?saison=ges
  25. Lets not forget the absolute shite that they were playing by the end... that game against Hull at the end was one of the worst I've ever seen Villa play, including this season.
