Who would you have put on in CM instead then? The McLeish comparison doesn't even make sense. Maybe if Lambert hadn't left Lowton out of the squad again (for "tactical reasons" no doubt) he could have brought him on for Westwood and moved Bacuna into midfield. He could have brought Albrighton on then moved Weimann more centrally at the front of a mid 3. Or even switched to a 4-4-2. Sylla is the worst player i've seen in a Villa shirt. He's garbage. Not even a footballer. If i was Lambert i'd have left Sylla out of the squad for tactical reasons. Send him out on loan, release him whatever. He's useless and changed the game today.

This a million times over. Yes we want to cut the wage bill. But bombing all the players out has/will cost us millions in resale fees as well as weakening our squad which equals lower league position at the end of the season and less revenue as a result. Absolutely idiotic scenes

I put Ben Arfa in my fantasy team after Cabaye left. Though Ben Arfa would be guaranteed a start and would perform. Was annoyed he started on the bench yesterday. Might make him captain now they're playing us

Well maybe full back isn't his best position. Plenty of players change position during their career. Half our team have played in 2 or 3 positions this season. Lowton's better in the opposition half. And yes I would play Albrighton RM

No. Our midfield doesn't create much. Lowton was excellent last season, particularly creatively. Benteke looks a bigger threat IMO when Lowton bombs forward. Lowton has been caught out too many times defensively this season and Bacuna is a better defender. We clearly need to try something. I think Lowton will end up playing in Midfield (as his best position) either centrally or RM and I think this would work.

Why so strange? He's very good going forward, his link up play, passing, crossing are excellent. Him, Albrighton and Bacuna linking up on the right would work really well. Or we could just put a clueless lump like Sylla in there.

Lambert's biggest problem(s) is that his team selection/subs/tactics(!) are baffling. I truly believe that our squad is good enough for us to have had 6+ more points so far this season. Maybe we just need a new manager

This is the formation we played so well under last season. Lowton's much better creatively than defensively and would excel in midfield IMO.

He got the ball to be fair, hardly luck, if anything it was a good tackle. I actually thought he did alright when he came on, a lot better than his recent performances anyway. Looked like he got his foot to me.

Liability when he came on. Lucky he didn't gift them a penalty.

Yacouba Sylla.

<br />I can't understand how anyone can prefer Sylla to KEA. KEA gets a lot of (mostly unfair) criticism for me. Whereas Sylla deserves all the criticism he gets. What are his attributes exactly? Maybe that he has good stamina, is fairly strong, is Benteke's mate. Certainly not anything to do with ability or a football brain. <br />All about opinions I guess and our manager seems to rate him! I'd sooner release him on a free than see him wear a Villa shirt again.

Our worst midfielder/player. Not good enough for Aston Villa.

At least we restored a bit of pride! Hope Benteke back to old self now. Thought Lowton instrumental 2nd half. Should play in midfield. Hope we can play on front foot more often again now.

Can we send them Bowery on loan as a thank you?

I think Lowton is a good player but he isn't a particularly good defender if we are being honest. Would rather see him play in midfield eventually. I think it's only Lambert's negative tactics that are preventing Lowton from showing us the same performances as last season when most of his best work was done in the opposition half. Which he rarely sets foot in now. As instructed. So may as well stick Bacuna RB and play to Lowton's strengths going forward.
