  1. Wake up and smell the coffee Randy before it is too late! Houllier is killing our club, Taxi please
  2. The next game is crucial, if we can build on this result then we have a chance, if we revert back to a poor performance/result then we are back to square one again. Hopefully this is the turning point for us,we have to believe that it is.
  3. At the time we had to choose from K.Mac, Curbishley & Sven? Jol was the man everyone seemed to want or David Moyes, both were not available although Jol is now! I guess the board thought he was the most experienced and best man for the job, it has not worked out upto now, the next 2 weeks will determine wether he stays which he is likley to imo. If the board stick by him and it goes wrong ie;relegation then they will suffer the consequences big time even worse than us supporters, If he goes then the signing of players in this window will be very difficult we have to remember that.
  4. Wanting your team to lose is not the answer, even if we get well beaten GH is unlikley to be sacked, the Games against Sunderland, Sheffield utd & SHA will decide his fate.
  5. Footballers these days do not care about the team they play for, it is all about the money, If we go down then players will move on or continue to take Premiership wages playing in the Championship league it makes no difference to them.
  6. General, after last night at Anfield, Houllier has lost the Villa supporters backing what little he still had, parting of the ways by mutual consent could save everyones blushes here. Time to get in a hungrier, younger Manager who cares about his job at VP rather than memories of his time at Liverpool.
  7. I was prepared to give him time but last night was a disgrace,it was about him and a nostalgic return to Liverpool, we rolled over and let them tickle our tummys! Well that is not what you want from a Villa team, he showed no pssion but merely sat there admiring HIS beloved Liverpool. The board may not be responsible for O'Neill walking out but they have made a mistake here and need to admit it and act before it is too late!!
  8. Good news about Houllier, hopefully he will assemble his backroom staff and get the team playing as a total unit gain. We needed his start date clarified and not dragging on any longer.
  9. Behave yourselves & get behind your club & support them for a change. Have a moan at the end of the season if it does no go well but GH has the job now so give the bloke a chance FFS.
  10. Gazton you could start the January Transfer thread :winkold:
  11. Andy Gray was Big Ron's number 2 at Villa - he quit the club to go & work for then Sky TV If Thompson is prepared to quit Sky Sports ( a well paid job) to join Villa, it shows a commitment & deserves to be given a chance imo.
  12. At least Thompson has some passion, IF he gets the no.2 role he will be bothered if we lose, as long as he gives Villa 100% commitment in the job that will do for me.
  13. I reckon it is Managers who have managed in the PL like Brown, Coleman & Dowie who have applied to Soton.
  14. I still don't understand who some supporters expect to be appointed as Manager, The people some of us & the club would have liked are not available, end of, If Houllier gets the job he is entitled to bring in his own staff & assistant . If we don't like that person then it is tough luck people are not queing up for the job as we would like to think they are. Give the new Management a chance before slagging them off. Where are the credible alternatives who are available & want the job?
  15. If Houllier does come in then he will need to bring in some staff as we currently are short in the Coaches area. It is pure speculation about Thompson & nothing else atm, but should he be brought in give the guy a chance before berating him. If we all live in the past the future would be a sorry state. It is time to move on, we are not going to get our own personal choices as Manager so get over it & support your Team.
  16. I would imagine that Randy has approached certain clubs about talking to their Manager & been refused point blank. Other than the Manager then resigning there is not a lot we can do about it.
  17. There are no guarantees that any Manager will have us playing in any particular way or achieve success, the team simply has to play to the strengths of the players available to select from and whoever comes in will only have the same players currently at the club until January at least. There will be no magic formula or change of style than we have atm, come on folks get real, there will be no quick fix or changes it will take a fair amount of time.
  18. I don't know what else fans expect the Board to do, All the good Managers are in jobs, they clearly would not be prepared to just uproot and move to Villa Park like many folk thought that they would. It was either a Houllier type appointment or a Manager from the Championship. Give the guy a chance if it fails nobody will suffer more than Randy & the Board & they know it.
  19. At the end of the day if the Managers the Club & supporters really wanted were not available then you have no choice but to look elsewhere. Houllier has to be given a chance, it will be interesting to see what staff also join us, Steve Clarke who was number 2 to Mourinho at Chelsea is available also? If it does not work out for both parties then Randy may look again at the end of the season.
  20. It may be too late but Hitzfeld clearly not happy in his Switzerland job.
  21. If you cannot get the right manager in then there will come a time when you have to go for second best, my point is simply that the club cannot expect the fans to be happy about it, nobody is saying that the club have not tried to get Moyes or Jol for instance but when you appoint a Manager it has to feel right as it is the clubs most important signing. I wonder how Randy is feeling right now?
  22. It has now taken so long to appoint a new Manager it is clear that the Board have not been able to get the man they really wanted. They are now working off the B list, do they expect the supporters to be happy with an appointment when they cannot be 100% certain themselves.
  23. I would think that Gerrard would be any Managers favourite, Houllier seems to be a nice guy but is he yesterdays man?
