  1. Don't understand this one. He came to us and was ridiculed by most fans before putting on the shirt. Then he instantly performs and helps gives us the best start to the 14/15 season we could possibly imagine. Gets loads of praise, gets injured and then labeled as no good and made redundant! Personally I think we need another 2 experienced/quality CB's and I don't expect us to get both. So why are we not using this fella? Please sherwood, with all your efforts in building an exciting midfield and attacking force please don't let it go to waste by neglecting our defence. Either sign two useful CB's or use the ones we have!
  2. Is he still average now he's staying?
  3. Besides....loyalty gets you nowhere! Look at agbonlohor, he's been loyal through and through, and the fans can't wait to criticise him and boo him! Fans are just as loyal to players as players are to clubs! Time to get over it and look forward to Gueye!
  4. Buy you, like many others, are confusing the real world - where the average annual salary is £26k to the premiership footballers world where £26k could be your weekly salary. The comparison doesn't stick. The comparison does stick! You never heard the phrase the bigger the bath? They live a complete different lifestyle and 60k a week is prob not extortionate to them. If you told a man who had nothing and lived on the streets that you were on 30k a year and that wasn't enough, so you were ditching that company for a new one which would pay you £60k a year, you don't think he would class you as greedy? Not loyal? He would see that 30k you currently earn as more than enough to live comfortable and not to want more. That's the real world! There are different classes out there, and different lifestyles. Just because we can't comprehend what earning 60k a week would be like, for others its not enough!
  5. You can't say people aren't Villa fans for wanting Delph to fail if he joins them. Once he's gone he's dead to me. I didn't say that lol. What I meant is a lot of football fans who weren't villa fans have criticised delph over the years, ridiculed us villa fans and said that he is average at best. I would like him to prove them all wrong!
  6. Love the amount of people on here saying delph is shit, average and we won't miss him. Every villa fan in the world would rather keep him than lose him, he's a huge loss, but let's not be bitter about it now. He's a good player, and I hope he gets games at Man city to prove all those doubters (that weren't villa fans) what he is actually capable of doing. He did us a favour in Jan, signed a contract, helped keep us up, and we get 8mill for him. Yeah it's not the best figure but he wouldn't of imagined Man city being interested and coming in for him. As much as us fans want loyalty its delphs job at the end of the day, and if you had been offered twice as much wages, to go work at a better company, with better prospects and a real chance to make a name of yourself, you wouldn't turn it down. And if you did it would be because you lack ambition! Put yourself in delphs boots!
  7. Not sure why there is so much debate over this. I was really excited by what I saw in Gil when he played, but sherwood will probably have his reasons for not playing him. He's been injured a couple of times and might not of got back up to speed, might be slight language barriers and he could well be saving him for next season when there is less pressure for us to get results. Like someone said above, he is only 22, still new to the league and learning. He's one for the future I am certain. Won't be going anywhere in my opinion. Sherwood has to pick a team that gets results, the time for players to prove themselves was the first 25 games, we've run out of time to trial players. From what sherwood has done so far I don't think anyone can complain, if we had accumulated over the 38 games the same kind of points he has earned us since taking charge, we would be finishing with 50+ points!
  8. He's fallen out of favour somehow, but I wouldn't look into it too much yet. He' probably using players such as nzogbia and Sinclair for premier league experience, and grealish because he is young and fits his ideal player mould. I think if we stay up he'll play a lot for us next season.
  9. It's okay us playing better but I'd rather us play dead shit and get 3 points! If we don't get at least 3 points from this game and Tuesday's I believe we're down! Need a huge turn around in character this half, and some much awaited luck!
  10. I bet their fans remember the cup win much more than finishing 16th in the Premier League. Personally I'd rather still enjoy going to watch premiership football and go for a cup run when we're more stable in the premier league! My main fear of going down is not the year out of top flight but the fact we might never return! Anyway, I'm going for us to reach the final and stay up....then a takeover in the summer and a top 6 finish next year!
  11. Rather get knocked out by west brom and stay up than win the cup. How much are Wigan and birmingham celebrating their cup wins?
  12. This.....we should do this! 'We will not be interviewed by a manager, we will interview them!' That quote is so true!
  13. And they've played really well, could be more! Another worrying factor for us villa fans!
  14. Any positives you feel he can offer Villa? A lot. Short term he should give the club a lift and it will help if the fans buy into him and create a positive atmosphere. I think he's a good judge of player, when he came into Spurs, he favoured a young lad(Bentaleb) over far more experienced players with big reputations and price tags, it took a lot of balls to do that and he's been proven right as Bentaleb is now a key 1st team player for us over those established names, he also brought Kane in ahead of Soldado, a move which wasn't met positively with Spurs fans but again he's been proven more than correct on that one. I wouldn't like to guess where you'll end up this season if you were to hire him and there probably are safer options but long term I think he'll do a great job if he's given a chance. He 100% believes in developing young/home grown players over buying, he'll build a team that the fans find easy to get behind, any blasé players putting in minimal effort will quickly be shown the door - no matter who they are. He hates players who aren't good on the ball and he sets up to play attacking football - which could go some way to explaining why we had a high win % as well as a relatively high loss % and little in the way of draws while he was here. Anyway, I've met my posts limit for the day so this'll have to be the last one. I like him and if he is appointed it's good to see a young British manager getting a chance at a big club, he'll do well if you support and stick by him imo. I like how a Tottenham fan is the most optimistic participant in this thread! People are quick to criticise and slow to praise. We need to hire someone asap, we can't rely on the current back room staff. And if sherwood can mix things up and inject a bit of confidence into the players we can get a good number of points from the next 5 games. Or we could spend months trying to find the right manager to coach us back to the premier league as with the current staff I can't see us getting many points. Marshall has already made it clear he will continue to seek lambert's advice so I can't see our performances changing much. If we can get a good assistant in, I say hire asap and concentrate on keeping up. We have all summer to worry about the future then!
  15. But of a silly comment, we've known for a good 6 years agbonlohor hasn't got many goals in him, that's not the point. He offered more tonight than Benteke has in the last how many games! I rate Benteke highly and I believe he'll come back to his best but there is no point playing him when he is in such bad form. Gabby and wiemann gives us legs and work rate, that's what we need at the minute to scrape chances and goals. Proved it today, we scored first goal in 7 games without Benteke on the pitch! A striker offers more than just goals nowadays!
  16. I was right about the starting 11. I hope we continue to drop Benteke for next game, until he earns his place back!
  17. Happy with the line up. Glad he's dropped benteke and Sanchez. Benteke needs to know he's not irreplaceable and Sanchez put in the worst performance from a football I've ever seen last game. Would of swapped cleverly for Sinclair but all in all I'm happy with that line up!
  18. Guzan Hutton Vlarr okore cissokho Gil Westwood Delph Sinclair Wiemann/agbonlohor Benteke
  19. loan offer, he turned them down Yeah, the ambition is there though. Teams around us are trying to make things happen, some might be panic buys but a panic buy is better than no buy at this stage. We need striker drastically to help benteke. Someone who will work hard and create openings and space, give something for Gil and Sinclair to work with. You can have the most creative players in the world but if your strikers are static, flat footed, low on confidence like ours is you'll find it very hard to find the end product!
  20. West brom made capoue offer!? Jeeez they aren't holding back are they!
  21. West brom getting Cole and fletcher......we really need a striker!
  22. Yes. Till the end of the season anyway. Tim Cahill would be a great signing in my opinion, as soon as I saw him available my thoughts were we should get him. Experienced player, really knows the premiership, good leader, can score goals anything else?
