I think this team will do well for us this season, we were all over them second half and well in the game. Thought benteke was poor today and that gabby looked more lively, and should have had a penalty. Weimann looked busy but his end product is so utterly frustrating. Delph and Sanchez were commendable and I thought Cleverley had a very good game. Grealish was quiet, which was disappointing - but i thought he could've come on a bit earlier, and defence was solid although Clark looked a bit lost at LB. probably right to bring Cissokho off though. So many teams worse than us, i like this team and think Lambert might just get us playing some good football by the end of the season. up the villa!

I could see it being Palace, West Brom and Leicester to go down

Excellent point for us, albeit frustrating. Benteke is back to his best, Clark and Okore brilliant again, Sanchez improving all the time. Half way to 40 points, with winnable games still to come, we could be in a very good position by the end of January. Well done Villa.

Decent half, defence looking good again and wouldn't be surprised to see us score again. Can't see this finishing 1-0 though.

Just heartbreaking, probably the best football we've played all season in that first half. Second half started shaky, but we seemed like we had things under control, certainly looked fairly comfortable until the penalty. I thought Hutton, Clark, Cleverley, Weimann, Westwood and obviously Cole all looked good. Sanchez looks useful, but still too much dawdling and poor passes. It was nice to see Grealish get on, and the substitution did really look like it was taking pressure off us to start with. Felt Richardson was very poor when he came on, seemed to give the ball away a lot. We really could've done with the three points here, Benteke back now and a win against Leicester is vital now IMO - we'll make it 3 months without a win if we don't get the three points next Sunday.

Spirited Villa performance, ultimately short of the quality needed, leading to an inevitably frustrating 1-2 loss. Weimann to score for us, defensive error for Soton's second at some point after the 75th minute. Taking the Mrs to this, she's excited and can't understand why I don't share her enthusiasm
