  1. Hi General, Did you expect the lack of loyalty of players when you joined the club? Is American sport also riddled with players who constantly jump for the dollar signs despite what the club has done for them? Do you get players leaving teams moaning about not being showed enough respect, despite being well played to do very little? Do you get coaches who fail to show passion for their team? Or is this just something that blights football?
  2. So because we buy players we should be quite happy to let any player leave when they decide so? Sorry, did I say we should be happy he is leaving by accident? No. Read my post please before you quote/respond. I said we should try and keep him BUT if he wants to go he will and that is the nature of football. All of our moaning on a VT site is not going to change that. We have to accept it, get the maximum profit and invest it wisely in trying to improve the team. No, but you called people on this site hypocrites for moaning about him wanting to leave.
  3. So because we buy players we should be quite happy to let any player leave when they decide so? Leeds and Middlesborough were both desperate to sell the players because they needed the money. Most people on here accept Ashley Young going because he has given us 4 good years and battled for us. He has shown passion for the team and left us with a lot of memories. Downing has given us one decent season which is definitely not what we deserve after the faith the club showed in him to sign him with a serious injury and the patience shown as he spent 6 months trying to avoid anything like a tackle with a full back.
  4. So there was a long queue of teams lining up to sign a player with a broken foot held together with a metal bolt.
  5. Downing proclaiming he doesn't want to sign a contract is an obvious come and get me plea, unless he has been severely misquoted. We sign him after he's been relegated and crippled. We show him patience as he settles back in, regaining fitness and overcoming the obvious mental concerns he had about tackling/being tackled. Now he has a decent season and he's looking to move on. He owes us, we took a big risk on him, gave him the time he needs and are due more than this. Spineless git.
  6. I lived in Great Barr for the first 30 yrs of my life, virtually no noses around, occassional baggies fan. Live in Hall Green, decent mix of both. Have taught in Stechford - some Villa, slightly more blues Erdington - All villa Shard End - more blues than villa Moseley - fairly even.
  7. He didn't. TV replays showed the ball hit off Joe Cole I think it was. And he gave the corner. Even Joe Cole was laughing about it.
  8. Can't possibly see what use a ref can have in smirking to a crowd who are furious about a decision and insisting he was right.
  9. Are you joking, aren't you? Did you see the goal the he conceded to an unmarked RvP? And the penalty that was going to concede? It's mathematically impossible to keep a clean sheet with Dunne in the team. The goal that was caused when Collins totally misjudged a ball in the air, exposing the whole defence. The penalty appeal where Dunne desperately tried to cover for Collins being caught out by a ball straight over his head and managed to get his leg between Ramsey and the ball? Dunne played on the edge and was lucky at times but the tackles and blocks he made earned him that little bit of luck.
  10. Just in case the bbc get it wrong again next year, our record at the Emirates: P5 W2 D2 L1
  11. If we're going to play the offside trap could someone inform the ginger lump
  12. If he puts Pires on at any point in this game, Gmac better watch out on his summer hols, there could be a second decapitation.
  13. West ham got Sunderland at home on final day. If blues lose today and next week and West Ham win today and next week, blues go down.
  14. If Downing could start delivering the ball properly who knows how many we could get!
  15. Heskey should have been banished from the squad today after last week's pathetic actions. Also, Gmac comes out about wanting Carlos to stay yet Collins still is in ahead of him. How poorly does Collins have to play before he is dropped?
  16. The basement of grand central station is a big food place. Hotel is a mile at most to times square, right next to shops on Maddison avenue and 5th avenue. Subway station right next to you which will bring you to any attraction you want cheaply.
  17. Next to all the shops. Grand central means excellent transport links and great place for lunch. Only 5 min walk from times square madness
  18. Dunne had the ball passed behind him when under pressure. Yes he should have found Friedel but that pasage of play showed exactly what was wrong with our midfield today, sidewards passes, passing to players under pressure, no movement and playing the ball behind each other. And yes, today Downing did track back and make a few tackles, it was so noticable because it is such a rare occurance.
  19. General, don't suppose you can get a flight over and give Heskey the kick up the arse that the big tit deserves.
  20. Disapointed me today. When he is marked, he stands there, he doesn't look to get into space, he just resigns himself to the fact that he is not going to get the ball. Secondly, whats with the cutting onto his right foot when on the left wing. He had a few chances to cross from good positions and instead was too greedy.
  21. Friedal - 6 virtually nothing to do. Walker - 5 - one of his poorer performances. Has been playing with no fear but lacked confidence today. No impact going forward and caught out for the goal. L Young - 6 - Satisfactory. Nzogbia strolled past him into the box at one point but apart from that sound. Collins - 1- dire. He spends the whole of the warm up pracitsing shots, was still out shooting with the subs when the team were back in. In the game he has no discipline, he just wants to dive in all the time. Commits himself fully, which looks great when he gets the ball, but you can't play like that. His challenge for the goal totally exposed the whole challenge, when Wigan nearly scored from the corner in 1st half injury time again he defended like an idiot. Dunne - 6 - apart from one back pass, he did ok. Think he has improved recently and he must be fed up of being exposed by the useless lump next to him. Downing - 5 - His work rate was much better today, but not one decent cross in 90 min. He had two or three great chances to cross in the second half but instead cut on his weaker right foot. Some lovely passes at times but he needs to think about what has got him to where he is - delivering quality balls into the box. A Young - 6 - Good first half, took people on, looked to link up with others, showing some of his sparkle. Then thanks to our tactical master on the bench he is put into the hole and struggles to get onto the ball, becomes frustrated and loses his effectiveness. Still managers to put Bent through though, and never hides from the ball like other players, even when things aren't going right he still is on the move looking for the ball. Petrov - 5 - He didn't do anywhere near enough going forwards or backwards. NRC - without ball - 8, with ball - 5 - Not his biggest fan, but his effort was great today, and his closing down was fantastic. Unfortunatly, he still shows his weaknesses far too often. At one point it almost seemed that Wigan's tactic was to leave him unmarked so that we would pass to him. Heskey - 0 - stupid big lump. When a young impetues kid act likes that, you put it down to lack of experience and hope they learn the lesson. At his age he should be embarrased. Bent - 6 - really worked hard today, tackled back, chased. Unfortunatly, when the team finally created the chance for him he didn't rise to the occassion. Albrighton - 5 - No impact on the match, devoid of ideas and strength. Needs a good summer and come back ready to move onto the next stage of his development. GMac - 0 - Calls back Bannan to give him game time and then puts Pires and Bradley on the bench, both who have no future at the club. Calls back Delfounso and when our striker goes off injured puts on a winger instead and moves Young into an ineffective position. Second half - obvioulsy content with our performacne, no subs, no sign of subs, no sign of instructions to the players. Obviousy playing for a draw, giving instructions to Walker and Dunne at different times to stay back at set pieces.
  22. To be honest, I don't care what you think about any player. However, i think it is really crass to slate young kids who are playing for our youth teams. They are following a dream. They have been closely watched by Villa scouts and they have seen something in their games that impress and they would like to develop. The majority will never make it and that is a fact that i'm sure Villa stress throughout their spells at the clubs. What if these young lads look on the forum, or their parents? I think at such a young age they deserve to be given a bit of a chance. As soon as they make the first team squad, then everyone is entitled to an opinion. But as young kids learning each day, surely they shouldn't be open to such negative crap.
  23. Is he the lad from Killkenny in Ireland??. No, thats Micheal Drennan, who SGC has slated endlessly and said he should never play for the club again. Got to question somebody who gets their kicks tearing teenagers playing fo youth teams to shreds. Pretty tasteless as far as I'm concerned.
  24. Collins and Luke young show exctley they have never been good enough, despite both flattering to deceive at various points in their villa career.
  25. WTF are you talking about NRC is the best player on the pitch. He's been everywhere. Everyone has been guilty of misplaced passes. Petrov has made one great pass and the rest have been hospital passes. NRC played great fast ball from outside our box that put us on a good counter. Do you just hate NRC? Don't hate him, just think he is a limited player. His battliing qualities are great in some games but in possession of the ball he is poor.
