  1. Not to be biased but the photography is possibly the most important investment we could make on a wedding. It's the one thing that will last longer than even the rings possibly will and the memories are priceless as we get older. Very very unappreciated at times. Dont get me wrong, i look back at them now and consider them priceless, just at the point of putting my debit card in the machine i thought "these pictures better be printed on gold leaf!". I realise now how hard the photographer works and i didnt realise how many they actually take. He didnt miss a trick, the amount of superb pictures he took without us knowing was brilliant. Ye, at the time it's a lot of dough and when everyone is stressed trying to pay bills and for the rest of the wedding it seems worse But exactly, get the right photographer and it's well worth it. Only looked at mine once since they were done. How often do you lot look at yours? I've looked through mine a couple of times since ive been married, im sure that will wear off over the years. But its something to look back on when you kids grow up.

  5. You rich, opulent bastard Eames. I have no idea what opulent means!?!?
  6. The photography was the really bad one, because we were on a resort in Mexico, they had their own on site photography company, so you can imagine that we paid way much more than if we had the chance of shopping around as you would do over here, or even having a friend of the family who was decent with a camera in hand.
  7. The part of the wedding i found expensive for what it was, were flowers, cake and photography. Those 3 alone set us back around £1500!!!
  8. Honeymoon Jon lad? A wedding can be as cheep or as expensive as you want.
  9. Save save save & tap the old folks up for a couple of £££££££. It's only like people saving for a house, you dont need to do it now if you cant afford it, no point in getting up to your eyes in debt for the sake of waitng a couple of years.
  10. As you know mate, exactly what i did. Got married in Mexico, with only my son, mom & dad, Sister & her boyfriend and Mrs. Wig's mom & dad and obviously the missus. Then had a 'do' when we got back with 100 or so people there. So glad we did it this way, saved a fucktonne of money and felt more intimate than a full blown wedding over here. Each to there own, but it felt more special doing it that way. This is pretty much my thinking too. I'm loathe to spend £10k - £20k on a single day when there's a whole world out there that could be explored for similar money. I really do like to idea of having a small, intimate wedding and then throwing a really good reception at a later date. I'm not really one for tradition anyway, and neither is my other half, so it definitely sounds like the way forward. I will say mate, even doing it this way, you still dont get much (if any) change out of £10k. Depending on where you go & for how long obviously. Still cheeper than the traditional way of doing things.
